We already know that he fabricated A BUNCH of her personality and emotions, is it unreasonable for me to question Surge's decision to suddenly drop a key motivation of her character, especially one that is what effectively determines what separates her true personality to the one Starline put in, when Starline could have just as much built this emotional response into her whenever she received praise from the masses when she replaced Sonic as the 'hero?" This is why finding out about her past and who she was is important. It fully tells you how much of what Surge's feeling is genuine and what could still be a fabrication.

When did surge and kit have a manipulative relationship with clutch? Last thing I remember, surge originally agreed to help clutch because he knows about their past. I haven't seen single scene where clutch actually displays the power he has over surge and kit to make them so submissive to him. This also feels very different to how surge and kit were before where they already overcame starline(their previous manipulator) and were like "screw it lets just kill everyone and stop this endless cycle once and for all HAHAHA"
Yeah they don't even have him really do anything to suggest it's manipulative to either of them. They don't even have him try to string Surge and Kit along with the promise of revealing their pasts just so he can keep them doing his dirty work. Surge: Okay, we planted your stupid bomb. Now tell us about our pasts old man! Clutch: I'll tell yah...right after you do this other job for me. Surge: Okay, how about now!? Clutch: Not yet, I got one more job for you. Surge: How about now!? Clutch: Uhhh... I got one more job for you. Surge: HOW ABOUT NOW!? Clutch: Just ONE more job. Something like that.
@@hydrocityshark But he's not stringing them along with it, so it doesn't feel AS manipulative when it seems pretty straight forward and in line with what Surge wanted at the time, Destroy Sonic and his stupid friends and find out who you were as a reward. @@MariposaDeMedianoche Because he was wearing a helmet so they didn't see his face, and the people just view Sonic as a hero while they view the phantom as problematic. Oh and Surge and Kit are not okay, they need therapy
The major flaw i have is why in the world does surge wanting to quit, when they made a deal to clutch to find about there past. Isnt that there entire goal? She should have told kit last issue that, after there mission they can quit and be famous once they learned about their past, now they want to scratch that and forget about it? I still don't get why the writers messed up on that. It was the whole purpose on why they agreed with clutch to begin with
Yeah I noticed that too. They literally wanted to burn the world down in part because they didn't recall anything from their pasts, and yet it just takes some praise and a compliment from a kid to convince them that this doesn't matter anymore? I can understand Surge having doubts about it, but I think she just gave up on it a bit too easy instead of struggling with this internal conflict.
The writers DIDN'T mess up! Surge and Kit's goal changed! They got a taste of a hero's reward and liked it! After that their pasts didn't matter to them anymore; they were looking toward their future! Is it THAT hard for you guys to understand?!
@@videogollumer dude, I don't know if you have been keeping up, but that was their MO, their entire story is to find their past, all the way from their dealings with starline. Every issue that came out after that is their goal to find their past.

Well, this was interesting, pretty much the majority of this Issue was exactly what was featured on the Cover Page, didn’t expect that. Anyway, at this point, you really gotta feel for Surge and Kit, even though their first approach were a little poorly thought-out, hopefully that encounter with Clutch didn’t make them give up on the whole trying to become actual Heroes thing, so they can give a little more thought to things before trying again and it seems like that could be the case, based on what Kit’s idea is, Speaking of which though, considering how Kit’s demeanor has been since #67, I don’t know if i should be excited for or afraid of what Kit has in mind, hopefully he doesn’t let certain negative feelings get the better of him during the planning process. Aside from that, it seems like Tails and Amy’s job will be a little more difficult now, Let’s see how things goes from here, it’s getting exciting.
I feel bad for Surge , the reason why she hasn't attacked Clutch because he holds their past( could be a lie) she can't stand being controlled by other people, now for our boy Sonic right now trying to hide his identity, Jet almost mess this up for him, lucky Sonic got allys who will help him out with his situation

the Diamond Cutters don't appear in this issue at all, therefore whatever I predicted with Whisper getting into trouble with Lanolin for attacking Surge and Whisper appears to have been hallucinating or is a liar when her claims of Surge provoking her are shot down by evidence confirming otherwise (when actually she was not crazy or making excuses but was tricked) and therefore seems at fault and is suspended, along with Tangle for hiding information and appearing untrustworthy, with Mimic encouraging it, may happen in the next issue instead, which at least saves the trouble of squeezing in some stories in one issue CURSE YOU MISLEADING COVERS! ✊✊😠😠
Does anyone else feel like too little happened in this, and for an issue that takes a month to release? We didn't even see the Diamond Cutters, and I was at least looking forward to see Lanolin inch closer to her inevitable breakdown.
@@videogollumer Yeah, but it feels like Sonic's transformation glove was broken (which didn't actually happen in #71 since Mimic only touched it) just to introduce Nite and Don into the story. @@videogollumer Oh forgive me for wanting them to come up with a better reason for why these characters, characters that got me reinterested in Sonic again, would consider changing themselves for the better after EVERYTHING that has happened to them. And Sonic is being Sonic, he knows who he is and he knows what friend are. He is freedom, and freedom don’t care how someone else sees himself
Apparently finding out about their pasts wasn't THAT important to Surge and Kit.
They got a taste of heroism and that became their new goal. Were you NOT paying attention?!
@@videogollumer No I just figured that one of the key things that motivated alot of their decisions wouldn't be so easily casted aside like it was nothing important. But apparently YOU weren't paying attention to that T_T
@@Roark787 Cute, very cute. Get out of the house more often!

@@spookyblook Well how much is this "new motivation" not a potential direct result from Starline's programming? We already know that he fabricated A BUNCH of her personality and emotions, is it unreasonable for me to question Surge's decision to suddenly drop a key motivation of her character, especially one that is what effectively determines what separates her true personality to the one Starline put in, when Starline could have just as much built this emotional response into her whenever she received praise from the masses when she replaced Sonic as the 'hero?" This is why finding out about her past and who she was is important. It fully tells you how much of what Surge's feeling is genuine and what could still be a fabrication.
StormSurge, Jet pursues Sonic, Sonic gets caught by Nite & Don, Don fixes the device, Sonic morphs back into the Phantom Rider, Rough & Tumble exposed as Clean Sweep Inc’s mascots, Next Surge, Kit, & Clutch set traps for the Phantom Rider.
They were hailed as heroes and liked it. Clutch is threatening to ruin that for them if they don't cooperate.
@@Roark787 Even what you’re describing can be considered manipulative abuse bc Clutch is coercing them.
@@hydrocityshark But he's not stringing them along with it, so it doesn't feel AS manipulative when it seems pretty straight forward and in line with what Surge wanted at the time, Destroy Sonic and his stupid friends and find out who you were as a reward. It's only all going to come out as complete manipulation when the arc ends. It's pretty much a coin flip if weather or not Clutch is telling the truth or not. Maybe he would have fulfilled his end of the bargain, and maybe not.

@@Roark787 exactly, starline didn't promise them to tell them about their past, but clutch did, so why the hell did they quit?
The writers DIDN'T mess up! Surge and Kit's goal changed! They got a taste of a hero's reward and liked it! After that their pasts didn't matter to them anymore; they were looking toward their future! Is it THAT hard for you guys to understand?!
@@videogollumer dude, I don't know if you have been keeping up, but that was their MO, their entire story is to find their past, all the way from their dealings with starline. Every issue that came out after that is their goal to find their past.
@@videogollumer again they messed up, why all of the sudden they wanted to look in the future lol. They didn't want to deal with clutch to begin with, they only signed on because of the rewards. Even if they are famous they wanted to learn their past, which theyve be constipating since the end of starline
Well, this was interesting, pretty much the majority of this Issue was exactly what was featured on the Cover Page, didn’t expect that.
Anyway, at this point, you really gotta feel for Surge and Kit, even though their first approach were a little poorly thought-out, hopefully that encounter with Clutch didn’t make them give up on the whole trying to become actual Heroes thing, so they can give a little more thought to things before trying again and it seems like that could be the case, based on what Kit’s idea is,
Speaking of which though, considering how Kit’s demeanor has been since #67, I don’t know if i should be excited for or afraid of what Kit has in mind, hopefully he doesn’t let certain negative feelings get the better of him during the planning process.
Aside from that, it seems like Tails and Amy’s job will be a little more difficult now,
Let’s see how things goes from here, it’s getting exciting.

Physically she can. Mentally, she’s not there.
Some people are very good at asserting dominance, even when they are facing stronger people. Clutch is one such person.
the Diamond Cutters don't appear in this issue at all, therefore whatever I predicted with Whisper getting into trouble with Lanolin for attacking Surge and Whisper appears to have been hallucinating or is a liar when her claims of Surge provoking her are shot down by evidence confirming otherwise (when actually she was not crazy or making excuses but was tricked) and therefore seems at fault and is suspended, along with Tangle for hiding information and appearing untrustworthy, with Mimic encouraging it, may happen in the next issue instead, which at least saves the trouble of squeezing in some stories in one issue
