  • I couldn’t find anything good online for a Trax to remove the radio and dash parts. I kind of go over that because I decided to start towards the end. Hopefully this gives you an idea to be able to fix yours.
Defrost knob cable came loose. You could feel it from the top and bottom air vents but when you would turn it to floor and defrost it would turn loosely. I found a diagram online as well as the replacement cable part easily, but nothing on how to tear down the center and such to get to everything. Decided to break into it because I was going to have to go replace the cable regardless. Once I did though, you could see the cables were off the pulley connected to the switch, which is what I figured it was anyways. Ran them back around the pulley and put everything back together, and it works!
    Hopefully this helps!
The other half the cable runs back behind the center console somewhere behind the ignition switch. Not sure how to get to that portion but hopefully this give an idea on how to start the project.
This model is not the Bose stereo system one. I imagine pulling the radio on that one is a little different.
If it helps, give the video a thumbs up!
If I ever have the issue again, I’ll make a better video.. until then, sorry for a semi crap one lol

I have to do this did you just place the cable back around the switch? When you first inspected did the cable just slide off track?

I'm surprised they made crap like this. My chevy aveo was way cheaper and the climate control knob was electronic and didn't rely on a cable to move things around.

Nice video. Were having the same issue with the climate control and have been back to the dealer over 3 times and it's still not working correctly
