I can’t believe I’m saying this, but...
In all fairness to Mimi, she was asked to do what she normally does at her shows...specifically picking people up. Production was just sweet enough to leave that part of it out. Kinda like the thing with Max. 😒

They did mimi so dirty. It was like when they asked max to sing a song on stage when she felt faint. And then editing it to make her seem like she went insane. Mimi has done some bad things but that moment ruined her career. She was seen as a joke and super violent since then. Look at how they treated her in all stars. It was bullying for no reason. I felt so bad for her.

Then appeared again on season 4 but as a gag and didn’t compete. And AGAIN on All Stars 2 disguised as Jujubee during All Stars 2 Snatch Game and finally on All Stars 3 as a competitor and got top 4 but still lost

Each time she came back she got better , I think they saw that as a way of her not deserving it due to experience because most of them had done it for years. Sometimes I miss the rawness of seasons 1 - 3. Stuff like them having different outfits and hairdos/haircuts in the confessionals, them not having a set placements on stage, Rupaul commenting after a lip-sync, stuff like that. I also loved seeing how Yara and Alexis were teaching Shangie how to properly do her make-up.
If only the footage were more crisp and all that, it's insane to think that in 2011 we didn't had a 1080p footage without distortions in the image. Because it wasn't THAT long of a time, just ten years! XD
I totally agree. Like there was no expectation for fame, catch phrases, gifs.. it was just so real. Now they all come in knowing they’ve all made it so they hardly work that hard anymore.
It all changed once they came to VH1...

I remember being so mad at the jury for letting their feelings towards Shangela cloud their judgement. They all KNOW she should’ve been in the top 2 and won the crown. She deserved it and proved it to them and to everybody who watched. Such a rising star. ❤️
Some of the queens said production had a heavy hand in that season and the performances they saw were not what we saw.

Shangela, like Alyssa, is a True Star! It can't be faked, it can't be forced, it's either there or its not. It's innate. That's why crowns and awards rarely mean anything real, those are all very subjective to who's doing the choosing. Most of the "losers" on shows are the ones who end up being more successful than the "winners" anyway. I've learned this even in my own life, when you know you have a special light inside you, hold onto it no matter what.

No. Trixie was superior throughout, when you look at each individual performance. Shangela does better in the Snatch Game and in Hey Kitty Girl, but Trixie was better than her on every single runway, and all the other challenges.
Trixie and Ben tie for number 1, and Shangela is number 3.

I love how Shangela’s and Ben de la Creme’s lip sync battles are more of a collaboration. Instead of being pushy or blocking the view, they worked off each other like improv.

Agreed; they fed off the vibes and positive energy each were giving out. And unlike some lip syncs (Mimi Imfurst), they didn't try to get physical with each other, unless you count DeLa VIOLENTLY flirting with Shangela during "I Kissed A Girl".
The thing about Shangela in Season 3 is that her personality and natural charisma were already there, and she was already excelling in challenges that required natural humour or personality. She was already the Shangela that she is today, it just took a while for the make-up and fashion to catch up.

Shangela, one of the few queens who did not need production pushing her to the top by giving her unnecessary wins or saving her from bottoms 2. That is why she is so loved. Production needs to keep this in mind. We are not blind!

@@itsdannyhoney the problem isn’t so much her going “mad” it’s how fast it happened. Yes there were signs, there were hints and foreshadowing, but is that character development? No. You don’t go from specifically not attacking KL in s7 because of the innocents to burning it down in s8 overnight. I’m fine with her going mad but it needed to be more dragged out and a slower process where you could really see it happen, especially for those who didn’t pick up on the “hints” or read the books. If it went on for a larger period of time (over several seasons) it would feel far more believable and not have the criticism and hate it receives, at least not to this degree. There was a lot wrong with season 8, this was one of those things.

Honestly, I think they should maybe focus on more underrated queens like Sonique, Shuga Cain, Trinity K. Bonet, Monique Heart, Alexis Mateo, Akeria Davenport, Asia O'Hara, Mrs. Kasha Davis, and Jaidynn Dior Fierce just to name a few.

Shangela has always been one of my favorite queens. She is a pure joy to watch, and her smile is so bright and genuine it can be seen from space. She has so much heart, and puts it all out there.

Her not making the finale is one of the biggest reasons they never did the Jury twist again I believe. It was completely unfair that she dominated the competition and didn't get her deserved spot in the finale because of a bitter jury. I'm very happy they only did this twist once and I hope that it is never brought back again.
Edit: And if they ever did decide to do it again, at least announce the twist at the beginning of the competition so maybe the queens can strategize a little better, sort of like Survivor.
