I own one of these fitted with a Gracie G-840f tonearm. I put a Sumiko Moonstone on it. I cleaned it up and had it setup properly by a trusted audio shop. It sounds fantastic.
I've never seen one of these on the used market. I got my 550 from Natural Sound back in the day, specifically to deal with a rumble problem. Only thing I've had to do is manually clean the potentiometers once. Otherwise it just keeps on running. I did get a surprising deal on an ADC arm, so I changed out the factory model. If you like manual, this is a really solid table.
I just picked one of these up a few months ago. Truly is a great turntable. One of 6 Tables I have including a Music Hall, Project, and a couple of others and this Kenwood become my prime table very fast. Does weigh a TON lol. Very smooth table. My biggest complaint is actually the power on/off button. Just seems they could have done better with that. The dust cover is very nice and love the light tint on it.
Nice table.... I just picked up a Kenwood KD-5033, that has those crappy hinges for the lid... Any idea what most do to fix ? Possible different lid and hinges. ?.
The best solution is probably to remove the hinges and cover and have a custom acrylic cover made. There are guys that make beautiful custom covers that encapsulate them entire unit and sit right on your table or stand. I had one made for my Oracle Delphi MKII and I love it.
it seems to me kenwood always used very well balanced Tonearms on there turntables possiably surpassing Denon & H.k. in the mid 19 80s ? ..Hmm one day ?

Thank you. Perhaps you could add info such as is it an automatic and is it belt driven, or similar facts?
Sorry I skipped right over the drive type. This is a direct drive table. Full manual.
