Over 30 years of knowledge and experience tells me that Joe can be as confident as he wants in his belts but it all gets hazy when it’s real. I’ve seen amateurs knock out professionals. People say Bruce Lee was “just” an actor , but all the elite from that time say he was the real deal. You don’t know the outcome and saying you do is ridiculous.

Joe Rogan stating that Wesley Snipes would not be able to defend against Judo, Jiu Jitsu, or other grabbing or grappling fighting styles is hilarious. Wesley Snipes is a 2nd degree dan black belt in Hapkido Karate. Just to advance through the red belts you have to learn how to defend against various grappling techniques, including takedowns. You learn how to defend against opponents while on the ground, as well as defending from multiple opponents who would "rush you".
Wesley Snipes is so advanced he is a weapons expert. He can defend against someone who has a weapon, and he can turn objects into weapons.
He also has a 5th Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, he is trained in kickboxing, brazilian jiu jitsu, capoeria, and perhaps other martial arts disciplines. Michael Jai White says Snipes is legitimate.

Joes is on the spot. As a martial artist black belt in shoryn ryu Karate trainning for 15 years if you don't have ground game, you are in trouble. Luckily we also practiced some judo and some jiu jitsu to a lower degree. We need to be like Bruce Lee. Learn all. And be versatile. Joe is a beast.
I'm not disagreeing with that but aren't there measure to take when someone is trying to take you to the ground or in that transition phase? Can't you attack the neck, eyes, groin? Skin grab, pinches, digging into a pressure point. I'm asking because I'm confused as to why these martial arts that are obviously effective at self defense (to an extent) don't seem to have answers for jiu-jitsu at a surface level.
@@thevillageyid solid question and the quick answer is that those things don’t work. Of course, if you are primarily a striker, training at least a bit of takedown defense will go long way. It still has to be proper grappling. However, once you go down against someone who knows ground fighting, you are almost done. Things like pressure points, pinching etc might work in a friendly training environment, but in a fight adrenaline will make you numb to those. I was actually successfully doing some pressure point “attacks” in my bjj class before my first competition and during the competition my opponent tried the same thing on me. I was completely unbothered by those due to the stress of the situation. That’s the moment i realized my coach was right telling me to stop with the pressure points lol. Didn’t want to listen at first because before bjj i spent several years in a martial art where pressure points control was a big deal. Works only on compliant partners or non aggressive victims (if they would be attackers they would be aggressive). The second reason why eye poking and pain compliance won’t work alone against jiu jitsu (or judo, sambo, wrestling etc) is because grappling means control of your opponent’s posture and limbs. You cannot poke eyes or do anything meaningful if you’re wrapped like a pretzel (before even discussing chokes, submissions and joint locks). This goes the other way around also: if you mainly train grappling, a bit of strike defense goes a very long way. The saying is that every strike to the head you get, your skill goes one rank lower in that fight due to the damage you took. And nothing is guaranteed to work against a blade. Have fun training and stay safe!

STILL, because of the effectiveness of BJJ I think we FORGET the Many times practitioners got TROUNCED by "just strikers or Brutes in the early days of.SUPERBRAWL(Hawaii),Absolute Fighting(Russia) the European NO HOLDS BARRED SHOWS. Yes Jujitsu guys were winning many of those Tourneys BUT they were Losing many too, often to "Street fighters" and Kickboxers(Vovchanchin) who had little or no grappling background s. Just saying.

stats show that mixed martial artists tend to win all of their fights in an art they didn't start with for example grapplers tend to win by knockout and strikers tend to win by submission. its because to adapt to MMA you have to train in arts that you don't have experience in to close the gap and as such you end up changing the way you fight@@edmeyer4800

Would never train BJJ. I get how legitimate it is for fighting. But I've heard on Rogan & elsewhere a lot of BJJ has a chance (not say everyone) to wreck your knees, shoulders & neck. Bravo & Big John are examples. No thanks.
Bravo is a master of BJJ who most likely has between 1-10 thousand hours on the mat. You'll most likely not even do a quarter of the time Bravo has on the mat. Unless you got problems with your knees and are up in age you most likely won't deal with anything significant like that. You could say the same thing about basketball. Look at how all the old pros walk with their feet all messed up.

Snipes has trained in BJJ and has practiced it, but possibly not as much compared to Rogan who has a black belt in both gi and no gi. In terms of striking though, Snipes does have the advantage. But yeah I agree on Rogan putting too much "emphasis" on BJJ because look at wrestling elites like Chael Sonnen, Colby Covington, Kamaru Usman, and Yoel Romero who freaking dominated the hell out of well known BJJ fighters. Hell even Judo deserves a lot of credit where credits due. Before Ronda got swept by Holly and Nunes, she was demolishing the likes Cat Zingano, Miesha (twice), and Liz Carmouche, who were all in their prime.

I know a guy that was locked up in a federal prison in PA & it was a “camp” that Wesley snipes actually showed up at. He said that when Wesley first came in to the Prison that this dude fucking stunk horribly!! What people who specialize in grappling techniques have to realize is you have to be able to get to that person you’re trying to grab. It’s almost suicidal trying that with a superb striker that will only go for vital pressure points.

Jon jones received his blue belt right before his second match vs dc so I really don't know whether jones is crazy talented or joe point is not that accurate
You can't think of it like that. There's another perspective you are missing and that is...Jeremy Horn from the past had no ranking system under Pat Miletich, but if you heard from other fighters from that era, they all said he was just as skilled as any top ranked black belt from that time. The ways around that are to take private lessons which speed up the process and also attend seminars and also to have top ranked b.j.j. guys show up at that particular gym.
I believe in Jon's case he just rolls with his instructor a lot. Belts don't mean shit, there's plenty of ways around to getting a belt.

Jones was a state champion in wrestling and have been training in MMA for years that is very different than someone who is a blue belt with no other background.
