Also, surprised he didn't mention Chennai 28 part 2. Probably one of the few best sequels in kollywood that focuses on characters and is very character driven.

Hi BR. You think Ujjaini is unnecessary. But the timeloop begins at the time where the flight was above Ujjaini. They show it in a small monitor in the flight. So it's a core part of the story.
He thinks.. maybe they shouldn't have given the time loop a reason at all.. like the other films.. but film makers chose to use spirituality& belief to base a reason for time loop... Which I think is great

I too noticed tat..since he was born in ujjani loop existed from there..its gud but little more explaination on how he got into tat loop should have been done lyk how SJ surya got into loop mode when his blood came in connection with simbu's..expected some clarity on how simbu got into tat zone..except tat a well made commerical flick...
But I think the director Bought Ujjain to tell us that time loop is not a Hollywood concept, it's already their in our mythology

the star of this film is editor KL Praveen who masterfully edited this thriller not a boring moment especially the last scene totally enjoyed it!

Ujjain story was convincing. Because that's the place where Kaliq born and where gets the time loop power. And every time when flight crosses Ujjain. It experiences a turbulence.
I stopped watching review at 2:01.... immediately rushed to theatre to watch movie....then watched movie standing whole time since it was housefull...came back here to watch rest of the review by the way movie was terrific

I watched the film after watching your review, and I was thoroughly entertained! Kudos to the editing by Praveen KL, Yuvan's stylish BGM and namma thalaivarey SJ Suryah who completely stole the show especially from the beginning of the second half to the pre-climax!
Finally we got a good movie 😂🤯😘

Nope.. Nope.. Overrated
It was so refreshing to watch a tamil movie that made us think instead of having a dumb screenplay with songs, fights and emotional scenes. As BR said, even the action sequence was a nice deviation from the mundane "beat the bad guy" scene.
After seeing the trailer I was worried about Kalyani's character
it might turn out a dud, unnecessary involved one in movie
but movie all characters are fine for the script
writing screenplay SJ Surya Simbu performances are really good and finally U1 work is fantastic
I liked Saroja more than Chennai 28. It's one of the best logical movies. It's chennai-28 multiplied multiple times!.
I can't understand how bharathwaj rated chennai-28 than Saroja. None of VPs filmography comes close to Saroja!. Saroja is his peak so far!.

Even Master, Doctor we enjoyed but STR won this year. Like BR said after that song movie is flying.. very good thriller moments and cat and mouse game but overall it's not come back.. it's welcome back VP and STR

Film industry is gaining transition with Master, Doctor and now Maanadu. Wish movie stars do not take success of the film to their head and keep working on good films exploring their potential

Master ?? Master is an average movie and there's nothing good in it except bgm!

Master, Doctor,Maanadu pakka commercial yet great movies,great time for masala movie fans,This should have been a diwali release is instead of wet cracker like annaatthe
I was really doubtful of VP pulling off this genre as I lost hope watching live telecast 🤡😂. The last of his movie that I enjoyed in theatre was biriyani, really a long time back (hardcore fan of nanananah 😁). I am happy that he has reinvented his style of writting in manaadu 👍.
Haven't yet seen the film but still was really excited right after watching the teaser itself.

SJSuryah has given a fantastic performance. Can you believe that he is 53, he proves that age is just the number if your mind is in the right place.
Few flaws I couldnt overlook in MANAADU:
+ Generic premgi, has got more repetitive.
+ The rushed flashback of str, the way he recieves the ability to loop a day only could have been made into another movie in my opinion (superhero genre 😁)

Terrorist just using religion names like Islam. Truth is common people living with Religious Harmony like flashback portion showcasing maternal delivery scene of Hindu Muslim Unity.
BR mentioned about Ujjaini portion, but it's the actual reason for Abdul Kalith time loop assignment given by Lord Shiva -using Allah's representative (Simbu).To save common people in Maanaadu
Ujjain is considered as center of the Earth according to some research. Could be reason for showing it on the movie.
As per the Surya Siddhanta, a 4th-century astronomical treatise, Ujjain is geographically situated at the precise spot where the zero meridian of longitude and the Tropic of Cancer intersect. This is why it was considered the navel of the earth, and is called the “Greenwich of India”.
As you said, lots of excellent screenplay moments , lots of villainous moments, less of heroic moments, more of sensible moments. Your review was also quite fast and adventurous like the screen play. You appeared to have come out of "The Old Bungalow " along with Dhanuskodi , and started talking. So excited . So good. Cheers BR.
I know nothing about this movie expect that I watched this trailer and I thought it's a rip off of Tenant but hearing movies like this doing good is a bloody satisfaction

Apart from the starting point of time lopp.where the flight was flying over Ujjayani, the small reason on why SJ Surya is also getting into time loop is also great. STR blood mixes with SJ Surya in the second loop.

I used to have strong faith in your review BR. I don’t know if it’s just me or your review has loosened a little over time. Recently watched Doctor and saw your review. Must say it surprised me a lot. I was expecting you to be a little more critical based on your past reviews for commercial movies. Personally really felt that Doctor was filled with overreaction to evoke comedy, the guy Kingsley was nowhere funny. The only scenes that felt funny was Yogi Babu’s. I noticed amateurish acting and direction from the very early scenes in the military camp. On the plus side, the BGM in parts were really good. And now with Maanaadu, I can see that your reviews are getting quite passive. Noticing more apt reviews from Blue Sattai Maran for recent movies compared to yours although his reviews can be raw as hell. I don’t know if you’re just genuinely euphoric about these movies but if you really did, I guess it’s good on you. Sorry if it was harsh from me but these are my takes on your recent reviews. Cheers.

The only thing I enjoyed was Yuvan's BGM. The movie was boring. A 2 minutes story painfully dragged with countless variables in the name of time loop! Fighting scenes were typical of Tamil movies. I would give 2,5/5.

Thamilvanan ( Hindu activist who died on the day of Manadu) and arivazhagan( CM) are thick friends and thamilvanan has major role in ruling party. Then if Thamivanan dies the conference( Manadu) should have been cancelled or postponed.
