If someone figured out how to manufacture paintball at half the price it would completely revive the sport

I worked for two large companies in the industry on the sales side. This goes back about 12 years now… it’s really difficult to get the cost down with having to ship paint on pallets. The shipping weight and the amount of hands that touch the paint make it very difficult. It was never a big money maker for industry - helps the fields be profitable on the weekends especially for the private parties and paintball tourism groups. Unfortunately I think paint was at its all time low about 12-15 years ago and to your point it really hasn’t changed much. Short of somebody with some serious money and a serious love for the game dedicating a project to this I wouldn’t expect to see it any time soon.

I WISH my local field (which is field paint only) charged anywhere near $40 for a case of paint...... ~$75 for their cheapest paint

The paintball industry is monopolized in almost every facet including paint and only getting worse with nxl doing specified colors imo. They have the paintball world by the balls and can set the price for just about everything they want.

Paint won't drop for most because it's what makes fields worth runnung
The difference between airsoft and paintball field design shows the focus on money from paint sales.

I was paying over $100 for 2000 balls backnin 2000, and end of 90s.. I think the most expensive it ever got was up to $140 for Zap
    Im in Baltimore

But the $40 paint of today is on par with the $70 paint of yesteryear.

From somebody who played a lot during yesteryear, no. Not even close. Marbalizer at 55 a case or Evil at 65-70 is far superior to anything you’ll find at 55-70 today. Down the chart, no matter what level paint you’re talking, what was available 1999-2004 during my first stint playing blows the door off today’s paint.

Not even remotely true. There is no paint of any grade by any manufacturer that compares to the GAP banana ball, ultra evil, draxxus hellfire, and chronic 420 of tester year. All the paint made now I would consider mid grade

Only thing getting cheap about paintball's is the quality. The fact its still .68 caliber is astounding to me, they feel smaller.

Can you make a video that explains the price difference between paint in the US and paint in Canada. A box of paint can go up to 269.99$ if you re not a member (Mirabel paintball). All the fields use G.I paint and it s made in Montreal (from what I heard). I know there is a cost to run a field but still we are so far off. And the price of the paint keeps new player from getting in the sport. Plus now airsoft is getting bigger and the fields are filled with airsofter so I thought it would maybe impact the price of the paint since they are not only relying on ballers for income but nothing change.

Here in Canada it's about 150$ case at my local fields I've see it forms high ad 200

Ya but paint quality seems to have dropped why hasnt manufacturing improved. Is it because all the major paint manufacturers also by in bulk from china?

I miss the days when RPS had a facility in Florida. I grew up shooting the freshest paint and im kinda bitter about it. Paint now days is garbage compare to yesteryear. PMI Premium for 45 a case or Evil for 60 a case was far better than anything made today. Literally ball on ball shooting ropes.

I'm just going to speak my mind.. I played the most back in 2004 and paintball was extremely expensive in comparison to nowadays i had to ref at paintball Atlanta Saturday just so i could afford to play sunday... It's always been expensive the paintballs nowadays suck in my opinion and the bps decrease yawn....still got my 06 dark ego and i have yet to adjust the bps down...ive had to call a few folk who complained punetangs 🍻

I agree that 40 to 50 is normal, but paintball would grow exponentialy if it was like 20 to 30 a case.

Hydrotec paintball was the closest we've had to a better ball
Printed for no waste, uneffected by humidity (no swelling of balls), and a non Newtonian fluid.

At my local field it’s 65$ for a case of 2000 tbh I can buy them in bulk off of empire buy a case there but still “use” that brought case for months to come saves money and nobody ever question me sometimes you got to do what you got to do to save money 💯

Trust me the refs and staff notice your fill isn't the same as the shop paint. They probably feel bad for you and just don't say anything. Empire is owned by GI and the paint sucks. Pro shar and APX is where it's at.

Idk I remember getting white box paint for 20 a case. I feel like companies are overdoing the box and then charging more for a formula that’s rarely changed
