I truly enjoy the way that your channel has grown from just marble races to things like this, but I was wondering if maybe we could get a "retro-style" race, with just one color of each marble on a racing track just seeing who wins. I do kind of miss these races
Hey, I have found something about core destruction and castle destruction, 99% of the time the one who shoots first will lose, and the one that will take the first hit will win. I wonder why
This is definitely one of my favorites! There was no way to predict who would win which kept tension high! I'm also impressed how long yellow lasted without the Upgrade option
Wow, this was the most back-and-forth match I've seen in a while. I like how each side is basically completely blocked by its own success, like only being able to repair when there's enough damage to go all the way to the bottom. The marble mechanics are cool, too, between the rising platforms and projectiles like the magnets that destroy them.
I love it when the Upgrade button gets blocked when one side is fully repaired! The shotgun is very useful for fully repaired structures, the magnet is very good for huge amount of opponent's marbles, the saw is not that OP, in fact it follows a straight path in which the shotgun bullets can't do! The repairs coming in clutch especially full repairs are the most fun moments!
I am in awe of the sheer mechanical interconnectedness of this thing and how it creates complicated play patterns from a remarkably simple ruleset. The platform-lifting mechanic for acquiring marbles is cute, but the bases themselves...it's a simple "marble hits thing and triggers it" setup, but making the things also destructible and structuring the bases a certain way produces great results like Orange repairing a repair button on top of a pile of marbles to trigger MORE repairs, automatic rubberbanding, both sides having different available options from a vast array of sets...seeing a saw shot carve through the saw button on the other side was remarkably satisfying. Also gave me something of an Undertale meta-vibe with the destruction of command buttons, but baked into the system at a core level. Makes me wonder if you could build an entire battle system (and then an entire game) around something similar. EDIT: And on watching more closely the shots even destroy the marbles? There's just so much to unpack here and so many possible interactions, it's fantastic :v
I feel like the magnet shot was a little overpowered and ultimately what decided it in the winner's favor. Not being able to get marbles to the repair stations just ended it very quickly at the end
@@EchotheLost actually I think it was more of the repair being too far and no upgrade that ultimately caused (losing colors) downfall. but eh im stupid anyways
@@EchotheLost the magnet shot was pretty op, which is why it was the hardest of the non-repair shots to access! you can only access it after a significant amount of your structure has already been destroyed, which i think makes it much more fair.
Every single time I thought, "oh, well good game but now obviously, [insert color] is going to win, [insert other color] would get like 500 repairs and start to win
Out of all the unity marble runs you've made this is one that I genuinely want to be able to run on my own PC because it seems like something that would pan out differently every time.
The way the shield/body of each side are the same as what determines their available actions and their likelihood in this setup is amazing. It provides alot of depth, you placed the different shot types very well (as evidenced by the very tense back-and-forth). One of the best races on the channel, probably!
Here are what those section do: Shotgun: it’s just an ordinary shotgun which shoots 5 bullets Bomb: I think it’s obvious but it explodes when collide, doing area damage Saw: saw through a short distance in wall, and then stops and slowly fade out. It can also destroy marbles Magnet: shoot a magnet which attaches to the wall, attracts marbles, then explode, destroying all marbles and a little bit of terrain in its range Repair: shoot out 6(?) cubes which will replace any damaged or destroyed block (destroyed blocks are invisible for us, but those repair blocks know where they are) Upgrade: upgrade the turret by building 4 more small barrels for 10 seconds
This is an ultra-intense and a pretty much exciting battle! Some of the attacks are pretty OP which makes it more enjoyable to watch. Always love your videos, keep going ;)
So impressive. No matter how much was going on and how mental it all seemed to appear, we always knew exactly why the things were happening. The slow escalation worked incredibly well, and right up until the end nobody really had any idea who was going to win, and it felt that the result was more than who can flip a head ten times in a row first, as so many of these kinds of videos appear to be. Additionally, the fashion in which the amount of weapons fired and the fact that the weapon choosing facet was the bit that was being destroyed makes this truely original, in my eyes. 10/10
This video was insane. I didn't pay attention to how long the video was when I clicked it and every moment for the last 10 minutes was absolutely insane and clutch. The repair mechanic handicapped snowballing and kept everything so close.
At the first moment I be like: whaat those basic attacks will cover the advanced attacks how do the turrets use advanced attacks? And after I see how it works, I just be amazed by how smart those contraption are, truly awesome man
Mikan has earned its spot as my favorite marble channel on RUclips. The unique games and challengers always bring something new to the table, and your understanding of what makes these videos “tick” is quite good. Also you don’t keep asking us to subscribe all the time. It really rubs me the wrong way when channels constantly remind you to subscribe to them.
I have to make sure I don't see the time so I can enjoy these better. This had me on the edge of my seat holy marble! Even though my color didn't win, this was amazing to watch. Wouldn't mind seeing another one of these.
Wow, I'm impressed. Instead of slowly upgrading, you actually needed your opponents to destroy your structure to legally upgrade! Impressed, MIKAN. Definitely :) Also, saying hello from Malaysia!!
I love the built in recovery mechanic so that the better one side is doing the more likely their opponents are to get a huge healing/recovery burst. If you don't take out all of their weapons and repairs pretty quickly they just bounce back because of how easy it is for a damaged base to get a bunch of marbles into a repair slot
Cyan & Blue: *perform 2 full repairs in the final minutes* Also C&B: *choke the match anyway because they let Orange and Yellow do whatever they wanted* At this point, I'm more humored at how Cyan and company can choke away matches now than angry. Because it's too damn predictable.
Pro tip for MIKAN watchers: The one that appears to be losing at first always wins. (These marble/1v1/multi-elimination simulations are the creation of MIKAN and the 'RNG' of the sim, IS REAL- BUT, it's ran multiple times until an 'underdog win' happens. Then that is what gets posted to RUclips). The whole idea of all of these simulations/videos is for it to be completely random and be "by chance" but I've seen this exact outcome too many times to not be convinced that there is a human element of MIKAN running the sim multiple times and choosing an appealing narrative. ~ e.g. - underdog wins.
Saw: can one shot these balls also when saw move slow they disapreer :Magnet: bring these balls and explode as a bomb Repair: repair things are damaged :upgrade: build 4 small cannon bomb:explode in raidis :shotgun: it shoots 5 its a normal shot Enjoy your watch;)
As others have said, good design with the equilibrium mechanism in this one. I think that the upgraded repair was a bit too powerful tho, as we saw many times just a complete repair in one swoop from near death.
lasted longer than expected, but not in the "Please someone just die" way, more in the "How did you recover from that" way *_"'Tis but a flesh wound."_*
Really nice little detail that can be seen at 6:30 is that when two suits fight an orb is it a draw or is it just not decided because it didn't reach the ceiling?
Orange is lower, so orange would be touching it last since the blue bar disappears first. Would be interested to see the edge case of both being the exact height.
as they were almost the same height, they disappeared and the orb didn´t go fully over the top, fell back in and gets hit by blue plat which takes it to the top and gets it´ little orbs
Really interesting how this game combines both the "menu" of choosing which bullets to use, and the core that gets attacked. It makes it so the options your side has are both limited and opened up depending on the attacks from your enemy! 2:02 Ow Orange took a lot of damage- 3:30 Eyyy but Cyan gets it paid back in full. 7:44 Lmao Cyan and Orange destroyed each other's huge waves of marbles. 9:31 Oh shiz- yes the huge buildup of marbles protected Orange! ORANGE WINS!
Extremely well designed, I was surprised by how often both teams could completely regenerate their entire board from effectively nothing
There was a lot of back and forth
Personally I felt that that was a weakness of this one, kinda took away any sort of advantages and made it feel like there was no real progression
