I have one of these. One thing I can warn you about. if you change blades frequently, the tensioning screw will become stripped. to even out the wear, you can put a block under the point where the screw meets the frame, so the threads engage in a different spot.
Thanks Phil for sending us here. This was probably one of the hardest to find channels on RUclips. Even though I follow Matt on Instagram I still had as much trouble finding this as Tim's Hivemind channel. I guess I could have waited for the RAP show notes, but where is the fun in that.
No worries Phil, I am one of those listeners that listens to the podcast the first chance I get, so its a badge of honor when the website still shows last week's.
I think it came out great! Where did you source the wheels? I found that mounting it to a thick piece of ply or mdf really eliminated vibration. A free bandsaw and some elbow grease really does make a great tool!
I agree with Scott, great work! you'll enjoy using this saw so much more because of the TLC you gave her. I wish more people would rehab tools instead of immediately buying new. giving them new life and knowing how much money you saved is extremely satisfying. -Kyle
Wow 😳 !!! I just got one on Craig’s list for $ 100.00 bucks 👀 looked a lot like yours ! Can you please come do that to mine! With my a, d, d, I take it apart it will stay that way, not knowing how it goes back together ! LOL 😂
I just got one of these bandsaws of the local classifieds. Do you have the links to the parts you upgraded too? I'd love to know how they have worked for you. I too need new: Tires: Cool blocks: V-grooved Belt: Switch:
It would have been better to balance the pulleys in the same manner as an auto tire by adding weight opposite to the heavy side. Drilling metal out of the pulley only compromises the structural integrity of the part.
Loose the music. sounds like a porn flick. Not that I've ever watched a porn flick. I got the same saw and did all the same things you did. It's a good saw.
I swapped out the blocks for ball bearings and am really happy with them! It was cheap like $60 for both on eBay!
Great video, an added benefit of refurbishing a tool is now you are the expert in its future maintenance and repair.

Peter Collin thanks for the info, I did not read about that problem.
You actually made it less Ridgid.
Great tips in this video. I'll definitely do the mdf mounting thing.

I'm horrible with the show notes, I know, I'm sorry. I'll get them up today. Thanks for the reminder!

Well played my friend, and thanks for the support!
Thanks for the shout out on Reclaimed Audio!!
Nice work. Vid on how to balance wheels would be great

Scott Kershaw Thanks, I got the tires from Amazon.
Great video !
FYI Ridgid is misspelled on the title and descriptions.
Master of None thanks and fixed

Sweet job ya!!
Simple but gave me ideas for upgrading my old craftsman. Heard about you channel on Reclaimed Audio Podcast. Nice work

Do you know what to put on the tires to prevent them from additional cracking. And also do you know where you can buy the tires?
Why fast forwarding the video?
"Makes it a lot more Rigid" haha, pun intended...
Is that a 10 inch bandsaw?
It is a 14inch similar to the standard Delta model
the music ruined the video
Aw you didn't paint the body, that would've been cool
Colin McLeod I was too eager to use it.
