Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is a throwback to the classic days of first person shooters where all you have to do is keep the enemy in your sights, your finger on the fire button. The story is a joke and the game takes it as such. You will never have to follow any sort of plot line other than "Mental" is the bad guy, Sam is the good guy, and you've got to beat up many minions to get to the end.
Serious Sam: The Second Encounter was a great game...and it's still great.
That is why I still play and watch it!

I just finished the HD remake and honestly I keep the original. Simply adding more graphics to a game is not enough.

Seems like I "seriously" underestimated the Sniper rifle when I played this game.
i love it how the boss literally explodes, not just drops dead and despawns or summit

i have to agree. I do hope the next serious sam game picks up right where this one left off with the rocket taking off, maybe with him crashing into sirius and then you kill mental in the end and travel into the future and everything is saved that would be pretty cool
First Encounter and Second Enocunter have great background music.
The first one was great too, the 2nd last battle music.

On the hardest mode, the SBC cannon damages nothing to the boss.
I remember playing this online, it was awesome.
I love the music when you fight Mordekai The Summoner. His nonsense rambling is also quite funny to listen to, though I can clearly hear him saying Carpe Diem, lol.
God I remember this from when I was a kid. I would play it so much. Still is one of my fav games too. Halo has nothing on the original "Got one... HOLY SHIT LOOKAT EM ALL AHHH"
this game is the game of games... the best ... you can't find a game like this where you can finish the campaigne so many times and still find yourself playing the game... i played this game since its release and i still play it
For sure! It's great to see people still respect the classics, At least this game has a community consisting of more then angry 10 year olds and instead, has some players with true taste.

@RockHardSalad - Well, if you remember, Mental was taking over Earth, and sent his monsters back in time to destroy the human race, as modern technology was to much of a threat to Mental. So the army sent Serious Sam back in time to prevent this.

slowest rocket ever XD but yesh, fun fun game. i should get this and the first sometime :P all i ever played was the demos.
Didnt the HD versions skip alot of the 'gravity' levels? where you need to climb up this strange wall but it turns out as you near it gravity shifts and you can just walk up it. Are those still in the HD versions? or have those been cut due to the new engine not doing that gravity too well?

the thing that made this game greater than all the other games was that on every part of every level you had to survive waves upon waves of enemies that could come from no where and all you could do was just spray with whatever gun you had
that kind of reminded me of quake 3.. oh all the hours spent multiplaying that !

He played on tourist mode. Mordekai isn't suppose to die that fast in the harder modes. It actually takes while. Also in the harder modes the guys don't damage like 1.

this is the best game i have ever playd
I mean in the way that its a guy runing around in jeans and a T-shirt slaying a bunch of aliens, the story and sayings in the game were done by Duke years before hand. However This bring freash air to a genra that had been strugaling up to this point. we were all emersed in games like half life and halo when this came along and said "Hey we're a first person shotter that takes no prisoners!"
There's a file in the Serious Sam folder entitled "music.rar" or "sound.rar" or something, if not .rar, then just open it with .rar. All the musics in Serious Sam is in there.

Probably because the final boss in the first game was a puzzle boss that required you to perform a specific action to defeat him rather than relying on brute force.
2nd ecounter is basicly a addon to sam 1 ... sam 2 is a whole new ball game. Nice work on the vid ... if i rember on that hardest setting the last level alone takes about a hour an da half + XD with lot's of friends it can get cut down but be just as mad XD

Lol the guys holding the bombs make me rofl XD Their stupid screams and the suicidal explosions are so funny lol. I enjoyed this game like hell, beating it with 3 people on hard is nice and fun :)
Funnest thing to do was at the start of one of the arena or something was to use fly and just let them all gather before using a big gun of some sort. xD

Whoah this was way easy. I played on Normal I think it took like 3 times as long and I was using Cannonballs. But this game owns so much the gameplay is so innovative. I'm looking forward to one on the 360, since the console's so powerful they can have even MORE enemies on screen at once and MORE weapons. Co-Op added to that would make it an instant hit.

You were doing something different. The sniper rifle cant one shot a bull unless zoomed, and the final boss doesnt die that easily.
its not meant for extraction.use a software such as Magic Iso or dameon tools,mount the image and then install the game.

Well obviously if you play on tourist mode with infinite ammo and play LAN--where you get infinite life--then of course it'll be easy.
Try playing this level on Serious or Mental mode on single player. You die, you start over.

epic game with epic surroundings, epic music, crazy monsters with crazy sounds, fantastic gameplay and some damn serious taunts of the hero - that's Serious Sam for me.

@CaesarCJ15 Only if you time it going in with Quadraple damage activated. Then you're doing 4x as much damage as normal.
Try fighting him without that. Completely different story.

it took me 30 fucking minutes to beat the summoner on mental mode and you beat him in 10 seconds
i miss the old games ... all new games are crap now
they all spend the time in grapics .. while the most fun was in gta 2 and the first series of NFS, serious sam and C&C

Doom and Duke nukem had Autoaim and both had pretty weak Stories. What made them great was the fact they were arcadeish, despite having a Story and atmosphere they were Videogames, not interactive movies
