I used to sing with Jim Erb many long years ago. He was the most generous man who loved to give away music. He was a great teacher. He was a great musician. He was a great man. Thank you for your performance. It brought tears to my eyes.

Man, I love this song. I am in High School rn and sing in my dad’s chamber choir as he is the music teacher of our school, and I love it when I hear this song and it’s even more satisfying to sing. This choir tho, sounds like genuine angels. There’s just something about this song and how it is sung that makes any musically competent and skilled choir sound unearthly beautiful if the setting is good and/or the choir has very talented singers. Cuz we sang this in a very echoey room yesterday at our party (sorta) to kick off the new semester and we sounded so breathtakingly beautiful that when I heard the S&A start, my breath was literally taken from me. This song is just absolutely divine and I love how serene and emotional it is, especially in the parts where it layers over each other. Absolutely love this video.

This is the best interpretation of the beautiful sceneric Shannondoal, the chorus that was rearranged or re-composed by James Erb!

Sang this in college under the man who arranged this setting of Shenandoah, James Erb. He was a pure delight under which to sing, and is greatly mourned by this particular alto.

Wow, you sang under Erb's direction? So cool! I sang this piece several times during my senior year of high school and LOVED it. Very challenging but so beautiful.

I had to learn this version of "Shenandoah" for state honor choir in Oklahoma when I was in high school. It's REALLY difficult. At the end I had to hit and hold E flat for 16 measures at ppp.
