Admittedly I come to your channel mostly for your fantastic work on the electric and the accompanying theory, but the stately elegance of this piece has me inspired to give my acoustic a bit more time than it currently receives.
Thanks Andy! They've done so much for modern americana/roots music - really kept the tradition alive, but also pushed it forward. True artists and innovators!
Wish I could give you more than one thumbs up. I've been self-teaching for three years so this is a big chunk of material for me. Above my pay grade, but one measure at a time, I'll get it. Thank you for your mellow approach and succinct style. I'll be watching this one over n over...n over..n over..etc
Man, I love this song. You have such epic taste in music Eric and your teaching style suits me perfectly. I'm working my way through learning your Bird On A Wire lesson .. this has been an absolute eye opener for me, such beautiful melodies and techniques. It is a joy to play. I'm almost to the end now then I am going to tackle this one. Thank you man! You're the best. Seriously.
Thanks man! Yeah I was really happy with how Bird on a Wire came out - fun to play, with many neat tricks, and yet thoroughly reverent to the original :-) I think I ticked some of the same boxes on this one - nice melody, nice runs, all executed with respect for the song.
Love the D140. Great tone. I have an old GAD-50 in iced tea burst and a GAD G212 in natural. And love my US made D20. I do keep one Martin around in case a visitor turns off their ears and insists on drooling over the headstock only.
Eric, brilliant backing track.. can't stop listening. Proof that less is more. For way too long I equated busy fingers with being an accomplished player, ty for showing me the light!

Oooh that's a good one! I've started transcribing that solo 2 times now - once in open position, and once at capo 7. It's tough! Maybe third time's a charm!
@@EricHaugenGuitar Their cover versions are excellent. There's a great version although not great quality of them doing Country Girl by CSN&Y. We're playing it as part of a Neil Young gig at The Betsey Trotwood in London tomorrow, along with Albuquerque.
You and I have exchanged messages before on Gillie and Dave (and seeing live performances) and I never tire of it! This one was my choice this time around for my monthly tab download on Patreon and I’m super excited to work on it in the weeks ahead. Side note, my copy of the box-set of Boots No. 2 The Lost Songs arrives tomorrow, direct from David and Gillian (Acony Records) in Nashville!!
Hey Eric - I've been listening to a lot of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings recently and just love his playing. That lead me to your channel and I have to say, your channel and teaching are excellent. If I can make a request - I think it'd be great if you could take a look at Josh Oliver's playing with Mandolin Orange. He is an incredibly tasteful player. Go Heels!
oooh good idea! He's a local boy - when this crisi clears I might even be able to have him over! In the meantime, here's me and his mentor, Danny Gotham, going over some nuts and bolts: ruclips.net/video/hDoFnH9l1mw/видео.html

@@EricHaugenGuitar Outstanding. Thanks, Eric. I'll make sure I do that today. And please keep the lessons coming. You have really good insights and break things down in a really meaningful way. 👍
Another great Rawlings tutorial! You really nail Dave's haunting melodies. Eric, Are you still building all of your backing tracks in logic? Excellent sweetening tip on the E string & capo. Very common issue!
Thanks Izzy! Yeah, I'm still using just plain ol' Garageband - with some plugin upgrades :-) I use Toontrack EZ keys and EZ drummer, a waves compressor, amplitube 4, and valhalla vintage verb.
@@EricHaugenGuitar Thanks! Checked them out on Reverb. Very cool! Thanks so much for the Dave Rawlings/Gillian Welch stuff. Love your playing, Eric. Dave Rawlings and Gillian are so worthy of close study and you really do them justice. All the best to you.

The Miles David of Bluegrass!..... you are so right brother.....always awesome to see some Rawlingsy gear appear.... thanks!

His comfort in dissonance, syncopations, and note "clouds" are so jazzy!

Pedal steel kills me every time. Not enough pedal steel players in the world.
Yeah! I try to sneak it onto my backing tracks, when appropriate - it adds a perfect weepiness :-)
AMEN! I can't understand it either!
Mesmo quem não gosta de violão , com um fundo musical deste quilate, não há quem não queira aprender a tocar esse instrumento . !
I only know this song from Miranda Lambert. I'l have to check out the version you are referencing. Good song.
Yeah! Gillian and Dave wrote the original - it’s a classic!
This is way off topic, but what kind of bass do you play? Great as always!
My older brother gave me my vintage mustang and a 90s MIJ Jazz bass when he went off to architecture school - they're my 2 most prized possessions :-)

is the backing drop longer than just 1 minute and 14 seconds or so?
