For purely selfish reasons I'd be really like to see if you guys could one day get OSP or MiniMinuteMan on, just because I think a wiki discussion with them could be really interesting and funny.
I second getting MiniMinuteMan on. He'd be an awesome guest! Also, if you're after great headlines, look no further than The NT News, with the headline of "I put a cracker up my clacker"
44:46 - fun fact: technically, Satan isn’t a character in the Bible. Satan isn’t a name, it’s a job title, and iirc, it only ever appears in the Bible when someone is doing that job; it means ‘accuser’ or ‘adversary’, and people who were satans were essentially those whose job it was to play devil’s advocate or naysay things so they could be thought through properly (so I guess kinda like the opposite of a Yes Man).
As the Bible is not univocal that is partly true. It changes over time from being "an accuser" (I think one of the angels at Sodom is given that job description, but don't quote me on that) over gaining a definite article and being "the accuser" to being a specific character. It's very interesting from a cultural point of view as it is basically fan fiction, filling the gaps of the franchise you like and some of the ideas ending up in canon. The whole fallen angels and adversary of God thing that is taken for granted in the new testament comes from non-canon texts, apocalyptic literature. I am sure "Religion for Breakfast" and "Data over Dogma" have great videos about it.
The American Dad one is actually more wild lmao. I love that episode cause the lore is they pissed off Santa Claus and now he tries to destroy the Smith Family each year. You eventually get a revelation that Jack Smith, Stan's Father, is Krampus lol
It was Bill Hicks who did the bit about Jesus not wanting to see a cross when he came back. Like going up to Jackie Onassis with a sniper rifle pendant.
I was someone who stopped believing in Santa at a very young age. It is because of losing the magic so early that I value keeping it for as long as possible in the younger generations
12:30 That reminds me of when my elder brother was overseas in the army, he would occasionally send me letters with bits of garbage, wrappings of food he ate while over there.
Oh Karl 💚❤️💚❤️ My Mom kept a copy of "Yes Virginia" in a frame and hung it up every holiday season. In my house we don't believe in many things but we believe in Santa 💚❤️💚
41:32 - allegedly, being crucified was part of his plan, so maybe he’d be okay with it? Granted, said plan was to have himself sacrificed to himself to save humanity from the wrath of himself, so clearly he’s not the most stable of folks, so we probably cant use logic to predict his reaction to things. 🤷🏻♂️
Karl mentioning Krampus shotgunning CEOs in the street made me think what if "Destroy All Humans" but it's Krampus instead of Crypto, instead of getting new tech you get new magically abilities.
I saw the comedy Krampus in theater in a sneak preview event and had a very good time. Can recommend you watch it with some friends, grab a drink and Plätzchen.
I agree. Kindness grants peace of mind, in my observation and exhibiting that towards children influences the cumulative power of their words and actions throughout their lives. The reverse is true as well.
My sweet Minnie making final live Pet of the Week for the year I'm so proud of her 🥲 her full legal name is Miniaturised Ballistic Missile and she accepts worship in the form of peanut butter
1) My friend's dad had a big white beard. Her sister had a job in the school near where they lived. She overheard one of the kids telling another, "I know Santa's real. I've seen him driving a mini van." 2) Another bearded friend had some kid in Walmart point at him and start screaming, "MOM! IT'S SANTA!" My friend ducked around a corner before the mom could see him but the kid kept loudly insisting he'd seen Santa, allowing my friend to avoid them and make his escape. The same friend also had some random woman ask if she could sit in his lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas.
Similarly I reckon Hogfarther is one of the better Christmas movie not just for the whimsy but for the message as well. I love Pratchetts stance on belief.
I saw the horror comedy Krampus [2013] in theaters. Weta Workshop did a great job on the effects. I thought it was entertaining; and though some aspects of the writing is a little shaky, it really is a Christmas Spirit film, so it makes sense even if some parts can be a bit tough to sit through.
For something Krampus adjacent (not actually krampus but legitimately santa but turns out real legend says he's a monster) you might enjoy 2010s Rare Exports A Christmas Tale, a fun Finnish horror film
I can't speak for everyone, but since that article did, I've never seen Krampus used in anti Christmas things, it's usually people super excited about Christmas, or sometimes just mythology, looking into Christmas and being like "did you know Santa has a pet demon named Krampus" or "there's a Christmas cat that will eat you if you don't wear your Christmas clothes!". Again this is not a polled response, but I often find articles about "anti Christmas sentiment" aren't researched either, and are just about how certain things make people feel, like the whole war on christmas was just some Christians getting all pissy that businesses were being more inclusive. They don't understand why people are doing it, and assume it's to spite them personally.
Hey the Krampus episodes of American Dad were good. The music was awesome and Krampus is not just a one off joke he is an actual character… and later stans dad
I didn't even bother watching the "Is Die Hard a Christmas Movie" video, because... it's just not, and I'm kind of sick of people BSing about it. Like there are parts of Heavy Rain, where you shoot people with a gun, if I went around describing it as a 'shooter' anyone who went into it with those expectations would at least be very confused.
I mean it's only part of a much longer discussion that we have about the full movie. We can't just describe the whole conversation in a few words for a title. - Lucas

A pseudo-archaeology wiki read would be rather interesting
MiniMinuteMan would be an awesome guest!
I’ld love to see red or blue on here!

Well no he becomes Krampus after the original is killed. He trapped Krampus as a child and Krampus is awesome in that episode

Fun fact Santa Claus is real in the DC comics and delivers coal to our favorite rocky faced god, Darkseid.

happy holidays guys glad you're trying to get ahead some congrats on the dex as well lucas
1:50:28 it's like in Multiverse of Madness when Wong says isn't it enough to know that there is another version of you that IS happy

The Krampus fact at 37:40 is definitely from the first American dad episode with him. As that was the whole theme of the episode

Really liked this one

Just combine the whole name lol. Smallwoodcock just sounds hilarious for all the right reasons. You would get a look everytime someone learned lol😂
Karl needs to watch Hogfather if he hasnt already. death gives a speech he would absolutely resonate with
Merry christmas in advance guys❤❤
1:37:45 - that short story sounds a bit like it was inspired by the Terry Pratchett book ‘Small Gods’.
The Anubis story is a whole book by Sir Terry called small gods
Well... Same premise different characters

DCs Krampus story was a good one. He's not evil.
27:15 I have actually heard of this one and some other wild creatures only because of the (alright) show Grimm
58:24 timely.
Yeah, exactly my thought.😅

Always say split the jackpot if leaving a scratcher as a tip, lol.

I don't have anything to say, but there's some engagement anyways!
Happy holidays everyone!
54:04 - ah, but unlike Krampus, Santa has Big Coke backing him.
😜

Yeah, gonna need the Squirrel Girl band names run down.
🐼boop
I lost the game

58:28 this episode aged poorly before it was even released
This was recorded yesterday and it was very intentional 😅

@@wikiweekends understandable, as you were and have a very Merry Christmas
