That is one of the two traditional ways berbers/amazigh cooked bread since a very very long time, that way is simpler for nomads, the other way is putting it into a traditional berber oven made out of sandstone which many villages(and some people near the cities) still use today. Today city people get their bread from the "koucha"(word of berber origin which means bakery)

@@michaeng3523 I actually lived in it. In North (specially in Tunis and around it) have only walls, hotels and artificial things!!! (Exp. Seas)
South / middle are so mesmerising. Natural beauty, welcoming people, you can never be fed up of it. unlike what I wrote, Sidi bousaid, Marsa, Carthage, go once and you will not be excited for the second visit!! And obviously we do not talk about the expenses.
