Love you uncut videos, Justin. Makes me feel like I am in the boat with you. The origins of the phrase "close but no cigar" comes from carnival barkers in the 1920's and 1930's. If you won at a game, say, skee ball, you got a cigar. If however you failed, you were told you were "close, but no cigar"........anyway, bit of trivia for you and the other fishermen out there. Keep the videos coming Justin. You are a breath of fresh air. Give ole' Daphanie a few pat pats for me.........

    “Close, but no cigar”
It comes from traveling fairs and carnivals from the 1800s. The prizes back then were not giant-sized stuffed teddy bears, they were usually cigars or bottles of whiskey. If you missed the prize at a carnival game, the carnie folk would shout, “Close! But no cigar!”

I’m commenting as I watch. Fairs aren’t the same as they used to be and the fair I grew up going to was nothing like the TVA fair in Knoxville. We went to the fair to look at the quilts and art show. Also to see who won for best roses, pies - sorry no pickles Aunt Bea! We also would get free ink pens and junk. Fair food makes me drool. Ain’t nothing like a fair corn dog or hotdog. Funnel cake! Fair food is so fun! I’ve not been to the fair since 2007. 😢oh it was memorable.

The fastest way I've found to catching perch is with a nightcrawler and small split shot and fishing on the bottom. The perch much prefers the worm on the bottom. I've seen days the perch wouldn't touch a worm under a cork. Just remember not to leave the boat on bottom more than 5 seconds if they are biting well, or they sallow it.

Those gulp minnows are deadly. I fish a river near home here and use them. I use them weightless with an octopus hook through the eyes so it can move side to side. When the water warms in the next couple of months better, they usually blast it when it hits the water. Good video dude.

I hate ants!!!! They are scourge of the earth. Piss ants. Wood ants. Any ants. Tho the Bible says we could learn from how they work. I can’t stand them. At my condo in Powell I had ants. At the farm, we have ants. Have had the hardest time getting rid of them. I won’t fish with crickets either. Nope. Hate camel/cave crickets. Poor Daphne. 🤦🏻‍♀️
