I started cutting up old clothing when I was a teenager. I taught myself and figured out (by making mistakes) all the tricks on how to easily alter clothes. I used to use a machine, but now I do hand sewing and lots of things with just scissors.
T-shirts are my favourite because they are easy to cut up and don’t fray when they are cut. This means you can make all sorts of designs by just cutting them, and don't have to worry about sewing hems or finishing seams. Just cut and go!
Most tutorials take less than five minutes and you can learn how to experiment with your own ideas and designs. I just give you the basic techniques.
Watch the Cinderella Sew video tutorials and learn easy ways to recycle, change, and restyle your clothing. Fashion changes, styles come and go, and it is always fun to remix what you are wearing.

Used this video to cut a shirt so I could wear it backwards because I liked the back design better for the front and it was great!!!! Thank you for making this video! 🖤
Omg genius! Such a good idea I love that! Thanks for telling me I might try that haha
never would have crossed my mind but I have so many of those type of shirts!
It's a extremely cute style for women I think
Thank you so much for this tutorial! The first and only time I tried to cut the neckline of a t-shirt I never thought of turning it on its side and cutting both sides together. So of course it was uneven and in trying to fix it I made the neckline enormous, like not even an off-the-shoulder, more like a slip-right-down-to-the-floor! 😂 I really appreciate your clear instructions, thanks again 🌺❤️
I have been through all those things you described! Until I figured this technique out! Thank you so much for your comment it really does make my day and encourage me to keep making videos ❤️
love how simple this video is!
Thank you!!
Thanks Cinderella 🫡

You are an Angel. My Dear

Unfortunately.. My Scissors is Bad, can’t cut sharply but had to done it, The Tee needs help tho Lmao 😂🤣
You can get good fabric scissors at a dollar store! That will help a lot!
@@cinderellasew God bless you dear! And thank you so much for the tips 💛
Is it going to fray?
Any ideas for finishing the new collar?
Yes! I love using the whip stitch all around it:

On what part of the cutting under the collar do you drop the 2-fingers wide rule and cut closer to the collar? Do you begin doing this before you reach the shoulder seams?
Start cutting two fingers below the collar and start curving back closer to the collar...by the time you reach the shoulder you should be aiming for where the shoulder seam and collar meet
This is great! nice and simple. I just have one question. What happens when you just cut right under the collar from the beginning? (as in, front and back and don't do the 2-finger rule in the front) Thanks!
It will be a higher collar, less of a scoop neck. But still cool!
@@cinderellasew ok, thank you for the heads up! I didn't know if it would look weird. I'll definitely try this! hopefully it works on other types of cloth too :)
Thanks for this video!! I used this technique a few times before (not even with great scissors), using pins to keep the fabric in place. Tried to do it again with good fabric scissors, but somehow I can't seem to smoothen the shirt and keep it smooth while cutting, so there are little 'bites' where the folds were when I cut it. Help!
That sucks! Are you still using the pins? I don’t use pins maybe that is the problem? Just make sure it’s really smooth around the neck before you start cutting and try not to move the shirt around when you cut… At least you got good scissors! That will help
Thank you! How about cutting a V into the front neck line? Do I literally cut a 2 inch V or so and still cut the neck the same as the video above?
here are exact instructions for ya! ruclips.net/video/W3Dm8y-cs7w/видео.html
I don’t know if this is a normal thing that people usually sew, but I inherited a vintage dress with a wide open back and I want to either close the back or make it into a keyhole back…. And I don’t know how. I was wondering if it was possible to have some kind of tutorial on it, because you make it so easy to understand, and I haven’t found a video that would explain how to do that
I love that! I will try to think of what I could do… The easiest thing would be to use some kind of lace or some thing to close the back. Do you know what kind of fabric you want to use for the back? Send me an email if you want and we can talk more about it! That sounds like a fun project
oooooh I cut my neckline too much and it's way two wide at the shoulders. Any ideas for a fix? thanks!
This should help! And don’t let it turn you off from trying again in the future, it does take practice! How to tighten a T-shirt collar: ruclips.net/video/spEzHQIFdR0/видео.htmlsi=W7ztv8d01qDq6_ob
THANKYOU so much for responding!!! @@cinderellasew
brilliant and I have a machine....could I also sew it that way instead? I actually really like the look! @@cinderellasew
@@carolhalpin481 Amazing! You can definitely use your machine, I just like hand sewing because if you need to take the stitches out there’s no damage to the fabric. Let me know what you do!
so when you make it past the shoulder seam do you cut on the collar line
Yes exactly. Right behind the collar at the back
On the sleeves, do you cut parallel to the hem, or are you cutting straight up?
Parallel!
Does the fabric fray a lot if not sew and just cut raw?
It will not fray! Cotton is a knit fabric so it doesn’t come apart when cut! It’s really cool to discover ... you can trust me!
@@cinderellasew thank you so much!!
I don't know why I didn't think to look on RUclips before now. I've ruined some great tshirts 🤦. Thank you!!!
I feel your pain! You can save them I hope! Cut out the images you liked on them and sew them into other shirts
@@cinderellasew That's a great idea!
