Plus British novels for children can be pretty dark; Watership Down and the Narnia series are children's books but death and violence are found throughout both.

But you're right about the plot holes, and i forgot about the fact that they made Luke go after Badrang instead of Daskar. But it's a real shame the series differed so much from the books that it made such plot holes. It would've been so much more amazing (i still love the show to death though, as well as the books) if it had been done a little differently, and had actually been completed lol. Plus the whole thing about adding two episodes in a 13 episode season that have NOTHING to do with the book's story, again, i dont mind when shows/movies/games, arn't exactly like the book, but it was just really weird that they did that, when the seasons were rather short.

This was a series unlike any other: it encouraged courage and self-sacrifice and doing what was right, no matter what. It was like Tolkien for children (I've always found the writing style of the books somewhat reminiscent of Tolkien) and probably one of the greatest animated series to ever exist. It was bittersweet and utterly beautiful. 'Tis a pity they never did Mossflower, The Rogue Crew, Loamhedge, the Pearls of Lutra or Mariel and that you never got to see Salamandastrom and hear the battlecry "Eulalia!" but they did a darn good job nonetheless (especially with Warbeak). I do wish we could've seen more of the female heroines: Mariel, Triss, Tiria, Tansy......
Amazing series! Not one that was stuck up about being exactly with the books, but still being Just like them! Awesome series, both the show and the books. R.I.P Brian Jaques.
My family has the whole book series and recently we managed to get the whole rare DVD collection thanks to my brother's girlfriend. The whole series, videos and books were one of the greatest things about my childhood!
I was disappointed as a kid with this series. The books were one of my favorite things, partly that they didn't completely censor the horrors that came as a result of war. There was a scene in one of the books that I'll never forget - a peaceful character is brought to shaking and tears because he had to kill an enemy in self defense. He says something to the effect of "I've killed a living creature! One moment he was alive, with thoughts and a heartbeat and breath, and the next he was simply a corpse! And I did that to him!" And he has to be consoled by another character, who had been through a war before, and who says something to the effect of "there is no glamour in war and it hardens the heart." I bought the season one DVD with Christmas money and all the fights had been completely cut out except for one key scene where Matthias kills Asmodeus. I know it was a PBS series, but I was totally crushed because all I'd heard about was how good it was and how it was so faithful to the books.
I know I'm late to this, but I do recommend that you watch the tv series, in no way am I saying it's bad just underwhelming. I would love to see them try to make a more true to the books tv series, but that's unlikely with how protective they are of the rights, the tv series has many inconsistencies to the books they are based off of which is my main problem with them in my opinion the best season was season 3, due to it being the most consistent to the book it's based off of. Anywho if you see this hope it gave you something to think about or reconsider your thoughts on the animated tv series, won't fight you on it, got a whole discord of people who love the series to do that with
While I enjoy the series, it is true that Jacques' descriptions of the violence -- and the tragic consequences of it -- was deeper and more thought-provoking in his books. Undoubtedly, the producers of this show had to make many compromises just to get it aired on PBS. Still, the series was not without its gruesome content. Asmodeus still gets decapitated. Slagar the Fox still beats Mattimeo.
Brain Jacques certainly knew how to impress his readers, I have nearly all his books and this show was the best and almost followed the book Redwall with a slight change. Still it was good. RIP Brain Jacques...You will be missed.

I loved this show. This is my childhood. I am 12 but whatever. I almost started crying. This was like my FAVORITE show out of all of them. It has so much meaning in my life. I felt like I was there with the characters, and things that happened in that series really hit me hard. For example SPOILER WARNING FOR MARTIN Rose's death. As Well as SPOILERS Logalog (hope I spelled that right). God, I loved that show. I still do. I would rewatch it a million times. In fact, when I adopt kids, I will show them the first episode of the show, and if they like it, they can watch it all! I was reading the books but I dropped them. I'm not sure why but I will get back to them. RED WALL!!! I will always be able to hear his cry in my head. Anyways, have a nice day! =) PS. Sorry if this didn't make sense. I was just writing my thoughts, which don't always make sense.
Have you read the books? There’s so many adventures to be found in them, even if you don’t consider yourself very bookish! My favorite is Mossflower - it takes place right after Martin the Warrior! It has tyrants and rebelling against evil and great journeys and even greater battles and Salamandastron, the home of the great badger lords. Totally recommend it, no matter how old you are.
For years, I have completely forgotten this show. I grew up watching this show: the storyline in the first two installments was beautiful, the animation very detailed..... Never had a chance to see the third installment yet but I just love this show. Even though it has been a while that I haven’t seen it, the one thing that I’ll always remember about this show is it’s beautiful theme song. It would always play in my head at unexpected occasions..... 😌😌😌😌😌 #Redwall #IAmThatIs #BrianJacques #MySwordShallWieldForMe #Nostalgia #GoodTimes #AlwaysSomethingGreatToBeSaidAboutTheClassics
I wasn't aware that there even WAS a Redwall TV series until a few years ago when I found it at my library. Since I was a big fan (and still am) of the books, I picked up the first set of episodes thinking, "Ooh! Cool!" and... while it wasn't BAD as an adaptation, it wasn't all that great either. I spotted quite a few differences in just that box set (including the opening scene!) alone.
bro i remember when i was like, 11 i was excited to finally borrow that dvd that i'd seen lying in the shelf for the past 1-2 years and so i waited for that friday, brought it home and watched it at home over lunch while my sister invited one of her friends over. so i was locked up in that room LOL. binged it all in 2 parts i think.

PS.
TV..... what happened? YOU WERE SO GOOD IN THE 90s AND EARLY 2000s!!!
Everyone should own THE ENTIRE SERIES, if they did they would be eternally happy =D
Really diggin that French horn 😌 Oh and the memories, too
yeah!! this was my favo series when i was a kid :D really i love the music!!

Where did you get the images. I likr them. I have the books and the vhs and dvds. REEEEEEEEDDDDDD WWWWWWWAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!
same here its just so amazing to listen to
my childhood is returning to me oh god...
bro i remember when i was like, 11 i was excited to finally borrow that dvd that i'd seen lying in the shelf for the past 1-2 years and so i waited for that friday, brought it home and watched it at home over lunch while my sister invited one of her friends over. so i was locked up in that room LOL. binged it all in 2 parts i think.

REDWAAALL😍😍
The thing I loved best about the show was that it didn't sugarcoat anything. If someone died, they died, everything was 97% exactly like the books and we want it that way.
long live redwall
NETLFIX REDWALL SERIES LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO
lets hope they don't SJW the f*ck out of it by making Martin black or Matthias gae
I am from Ukraine and I remember when I was a child and watched this cartoon on my TV. Yeah, this is a legendary cartoon for many people.
P.s. I saw all parts of it.
☺️☺️☺️
Rip Brian Jacques You shall be missed the legacy of your storytelling shall forever go down in history may you never be forgotten.
They need to make an animated movie based on the books.
But with traditional animation, not CGI.
Yep
