I am so happy and grateful that this was posted - Dirty Projectors are perhaps the most proficient live musicians on the planet. However, I'm really frustrated with the mix. It sounds like a totally unmixed board feed of whatever the house mix was at the time. It's flat and lacks any character. I wish there was some live room in the mix in order to enhance the overall sound and give it some much-needed dynamics. What a shame, Primavera!
yeah I a lot of people probably think this is what live music sounds like. If they hadn't before heard any. A phone recording would sound more interesting. Just wish I'd made this show
i don't know but surely he looks quiet wasted on that stage.. i remember it was pretty late when they started but i didn't remember he was that wasted.. well, me too. great few memories though.
dave's pretty bad live, hes probably one the best pop composers that ever lived, the band is completely amazing, but his performance is lazy. i know hes not a singer per se so that's "forgiven" but he is overall turning this incredible band into an awful mess of a 12 year old group rehearsing in a garage disturbing the neighbours with complex/strange songs that were meant to be played carefully so we can appreciate them. one of the worst live shows ive seen in about a lot of time, counting wedding bands, street musicians and general parties.
definitely the bad mix doesn't help, and his issues with hitting notes in songs where precision is a necessity in opening up these melodies is unfortunate (yuck to my sentence there). sometimes I feel like I'm sensing great music just under the messy surface, dirtily (sic?) projected, I guess. I don't know, think i love this band. sometimes best when he's out of the way vocally, though the songs he does sing in are still intriguing. they sure are good
@@shnootch it's tricky concept for an awesome band. could be the best band in the planet, what with nat baldwyn and mike johnson making the best drum and bass in the whole wide world. the new members are amazingly well tuned and kristin can reach crazy high notes. i agree about the mix. but hearing the bass clearly in about to die was amazing. love that arrangement.
@@winningbackthegirl this is bad. but if you dont have the ear to acknowledge that, well be happy, enjoy the concert. if it fits you theres nothing wrong. except that this band have an incredibly high pontential. the musicians around dave could be themselves recording artists and backup musicians second to none in the whole world. the guitar performance in break thru...

One of the most beautiful moment of my life.
I never knew how much I needed an all female swing lo Magellan
Incredible band! I wish they get the success they deserve.

DADGBD!
man, Dave really needs to find a sweeter guitar tone for break thru
Or just to learn how to play the song :p
How does David Longstreth keep finding these amazingly talented women collaborators and bandmates, who are also crazy good singers??
Satan

There are many!
what snare is that??
The bassist wasn't on spot. He usually is.

have you seen him live?
Sounds like the ramblings of a 12 year old child who doesn’t understand music. Haven’t seen much live music if you think this was that bad.
