The problem with Nostradamus is that his predictions are “confirmed” after an event has already happened. The vague symbolism in each prediction could be interpreted as major event happening in someone’s lifetime.
What if the Voynich Manuscript was just written by some guy who ate one too many shrooms and wrote straight nonsense and now we're here today examining it like it's some mind blowing mystery...

That nostradamus part is complete bull. Yeah, i can make a prediction like nostradamus did "Sometimes in the future, there will we an event, where earth shakes and shit happens". It is extremely vague and it is up to reader to make the connection to something.
A understanding of human behavior, history then a large enough time scale its pretty easy to make predictions of the future. Nostradamus made a lot of predictions that have not come to pass but people never focus on those
rise of hitler “From the depths of the West of Europe A young child will be born of poor people, He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop; His fame will increase towards the realm of the East.” And for the fall of Hitler, we have: “Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister. I actually got to see/hear excerpts from the Dead Sea Scrolls at a traveling exhibition in Philadelphia when I was in college. This would have been over five years ago now. The weirdest/most intriguing of these texts for me has definitely got to be the Beale Ciphers or the Ripley Scroll Book.
"National Treasure!" "It took the Declaration of Independence to decipher one page!" Me: Nicholas Cage, aka Benjamin Franklin Gates, are you hearing this right now?
Right. That's what I'm saying. Things have been found all over the world. Some of them weren't from where they were discovered. Basic example...the material used to build the pyramids wasn't from anywhere near where the pyramids actually are. That's part of the mystery that archeologists are trying to find out. How did they get those heavy blocks to the locations to build? So, the Codex could've been brought to that location from someone who traveled there. And since it is in fact indecipherable, how do they even know the origins of it???
Maybe because of the way the event transpired in the book? During the video there is a party of what looks like Jesus Christ on a cross, along with other images influenced by religion. If so, maybe they notice the third page has Jesus on a cross and the next one has him walking out of a tomb.Or the cover is on the backside of the book, like those Japanese mangas.
THE HEART OF NOSTRADAMUS “Our Man of Predictions” was a somewhat sorry lot; Maybe he had visions... or maybe he did not. Alas, he could not predict the ending of the Titanic! Really, that’s another tale ..💎 a book of Ruby-NOT📕
Many people here are correlating book #5 "The Ripley Scroll Book" to the manga & anime Fullmetal Alchemist, and indeed it is an intended source reference, however it is just one of quite a few ancient manuscripts & old books the manga/anime draws from in the medieval study of Alchemy. For instance if one were interested in reading further, they could explore works by Johann Joachim Becher, or Paracelsus who first wrote of the homonculus, or the many German folklore stories of Faust that often involve creating the dwarf/spirit in the flask and making a pact with a devil named Mephistopholes who ultimately consumes or destroys Faust. Great Work with the video. The books listed here should be considered jumping off points for further deep dives down these wells of inspiration. Enjoy.

#5 is definitely the book that inspired Full Metal Alchemist and I think that's cool. I love hearing old legends or stories or myths and making a connection with another book or tv show. Like when I learned the Hunger Games was inspired by a Greek myth. That was a good day.
After trying to read the book 'the voynich manuscript' I realized that it is a diary of an ancient discoverer that had discovered new plants at that time which are common now e.g. wild ferns, potato plants, pitcher plants etc...... there are some plants he discovered which are extinct now. He imagined that if he applied his made spells on the plants that are extinct now then the plants could become dangerous and huge and could also eat up people. That's why he wrote it all up in a diary...
Well if you never heard about 'Shams al-Ma'arif (The Book of the Sun of Gnosis)' I guess you should check it out right now, this book is really popular in my country, known as the most dangerous and mysterious book ever made, but I don't think you'll find it in any langage besides arabic. Well, the Devil's Bible isn't really that mysterious. It's clearly a religious text from a very small cult. And the Book of Enoch isn't much different from any other Old Testament book (albeit they are all very mysterious since we know practically nothing on their origins).
The codex gigas is written with the same hand, same timeframe with no fatigue. Origins of the book of Enoch are also mysterious. Much more than a boy throwing a rock in a cave and hearing something break, in my opinion. Jus my opinion.
Billy Webster I already admitted that basically everything in the Old Testament is mysterious, that doesn't exclude the Book of Enoch. But having a huge book written at one time isn't much of a surprising thing.
Has no one else wondered why the book that the pope gets in a small black box every time a new pope gets elected telling how the world will end and future tells.
Kelly-Ann Lefruit no. It's not. References to the necronomicon only appeared after its appearance in the lovecraft mythos. Anyone who is trying to sell you a necronomicon as an actual grimoire is selling you wolf tickets.
Legitimately, why would you place the Dead Sea scrolls on this list? It isn't very mysterious is it? I mean, the Bible can and is pretty easily understandable.
It isn't what it contains that makes it mysterious, it's why it contains it. Why would their be Gospels written by the disciples on scrolls not contained within the Bible in the dead sea.
Well, according to the bible god created a forbidden fruit, that would doom Adam and all his descendents. So, maybe god gave him this forbidden book, because he really really REALLY wanted Adam to mess up. Just to be sure. :-D
+Salem Saberhagen God commanded Adam to not eat the fruit from that tree. It was a simple commandment. He never WANTED Adam to screw up. He did that himself.
I would have thought a "well known Elizabethan Mathematician, Astrologer and Consultant to the court of the Queen" would have many books. And whats daylight got to do with his collection?
Yea, based on the unknown plants it has led some to think it is from another planet. I just think it s a copy of a much older book that shown plants that are now extinct and the language is dead.
It made me think of the Codex Seraphinianus, which is a work of art. The idea is basically the same, but what Matthew described looks less aesthetic and more specific. And I also thought about another planet flora. BTW, even if it were extinct plants, we would be able to name at least a few of them.
I asked myself the same question and immediately imagined the answer. Deciphers might not know the language, but they do know how languages and writing work. In a manuscript, a person starts writing until they no longer have space, but they're always tempted to finish the last word in a line, but when they go to the next line, they start exactly below the first letter of the previous line. This way, the first letters of all lines are aligned but the final ones aren't. This gives immediately the direction of writing. The same thing can be done for paragraphs to decide whether the author writes top-to-bottom or bottom-to-up.

My math book isn't there 🤔

It was Fullmetal Alchemist, not Harry Potter you fanboy
Lmao nerd
I thought of Fullmetal Alchemist.
I thought of Full Metal Alchemist and Harry Potter. But when he said transmutation all I could think was "Human transmutation?"
I did too!!😂😂

BILL CIPHER IS REAL! WE ARE ALL DOOMED!!!
selçuk emre it said beale cipher

Maybe they took inspiration from that for their character's name.
Nerissa Crawford nope it was from the dollar bill
Welcome one and all to WEIRDMAGGEDON
the Bible is a book that predicts the future
Exactly!
+Odiuos Skull well ok hope u have fun burning in hell
Hope he will repent.
that's a rather extreme claim, why do you believe it predicts the future
........I don't see how the bible is a book of prediction instead of learnings of religion ._.
I absolutely love your attitude and how you host your channel!! Very entertaining and interesting!
1: bible
Odd things: people think it's true
stop.
+The Bays Family I'm confused? Shouldn't you be offended?
1: the origin of species
Odd thing: people think it's true
+The Bays Family Same
Are you fucking trying to start a flame war?
If we can't find someone smart enough to crack the Beale cipher, I'm sure machine-learning would be of aid.
Has no one else wondered why the book that the pope gets in a small black box every time a new pope gets elected telling how the world will end and future tells.
ZeusTTV nah, I don’t believe in the pope
Pope on a rope!
I’m going to write a cypher of gibberish and in 500 yrs it will remain a perplexing mystery that befuddles the worlds greatest minds.
Matthew, for your top ten list is there any specific order or is it just a list?
it's just a list
It's usually just a list but often he leaves the most awe inducing one for last.
+Adam Shaikh city changed their badge
Depends on where he gets the top ten list.
Joshua Joynes ik
Woah. Slow down Mat. Did you just suggest that the UK gets Sun? Now that's just not right
"spells rituals, demonology" my kind of book :)
Ashlee Harriman sammee
Same.
Dean?
you guys should study India bengal dark magic rituals
be careful reading dark magic books you never know what will happen
Glad to see you're back. That bit about the Beale treasure, hilarious!
Necronomicon? Anyone... IT’S REAL OK!
Kelly-Ann Lefruit no. It's not. References to the necronomicon only appeared after its appearance in the lovecraft mythos. Anyone who is trying to sell you a necronomicon as an actual grimoire is selling you wolf tickets.
PRØPHET *insert Sarcasm here*
Kelly-Ann Lefruit
The necronomicon was def real!! Just not to the extent hp Lovecraft expressed
@@livingghost683: you get extra points by invoking the nearly obsolete phrase "selling wolf tickets."
I just got your book and just started reading it. So far, I'm hooked!
"Obviously humans have a thirst for knowledge!"
Me: Ravenclaws. -.-
"And when you think of books, what do you think of? Harry Potter?"
Me: O_O
about time we read the forbidden knowledge.. u know i might know a way to really obtain immortality but by reincarnations and will.
OMG I can't get enough of this channel
The rohonc book picture straight up has a *frowney face* in it
Proud of you and your book!!! Great job hun!!!
I have heard a lot of Michael Jackson jokes in my lifetime...
That was by far the worst.
No one cares
I love your book Matthew Santoro. It is very informative but also very interesting. Hard to stop reading.
I..... Highly doubt that God would give Adam a book that contains spiritism and demonism directly in its pages...
A draft, maybe? Writing is a hard process. Not everything would be accepted by the masses. There ought to be a lot of things not inserted.
V sauce is the best bald RUclipsr of all time
True shit man!!
😂😂😂
The why are you here
you're my favorite bald youtuber Mathew.
+Matthew Santoro sorry, I was just trying to get top comment to get some exposure for my channel. #anythingforviews
Lol he literally made this video just to promote his book
😒😑 u right
Look at the title. does it say anything about his book? I don't think so.
Maybe he got the idea when writing his own book.
So what?
He's gotta pay his bills, he lives in Toronto and that ain't cheap.
The picture you put for the book of soyga is actually one of the pages from the voynich manuscript
If you read the comments you would have seen that was mentioned about a dozen times already.
"Why would this guy have 3000 books?"
Maybe they were good?
Yerrrr and Matt doesn't know that maybe he sat outside and read in the sun. Very close minded comment.
+Harleigh Raidal close minded? do you know how expensive parchment was back then? seems like you're the close minded one.
+Harleigh Raidal plus how long would it take to read all that?
I would have thought a "well known Elizabethan Mathematician, Astrologer and Consultant to the court of the Queen" would have many books. And whats daylight got to do with his collection?
Knowledge is power.
I was seriously expecting a "hey, Vsause here" then I looked at the channel name and was a little disappointed..
What is a book?
What is a book...a miseable pile of secrets! Lol.
Something that explains how your iPhone works.
Just a bunch of leaves made out of wood that are bound together.
@Brutal Ghost possibly
Congratulations on the book bro . keep moving forward and don’t look back
every time I watch your video I learn thing I don't know thank you ;)
+Matthew Santoro you're my favorite youtuber ;)) you make me smile every time I see you make a new video
That book plug at the beginning 😂👌
He forgot to mention that many of the plants in the Voynich Manuscript are completely unknown.
Yea, based on the unknown plants it has led some to think it is from another planet. I just think it s a copy of a much older book that shown plants that are now extinct and the language is dead.
+Big Slim It would make sense. It's still strange that the language hasn't been seen in anything else.
It made me think of the Codex Seraphinianus, which is a work of art. The idea is basically the same, but what Matthew described looks less aesthetic and more specific.
And I also thought about another planet flora. BTW, even if it were extinct plants, we would be able to name at least a few of them.
Super keen to get your book matt!!! Keep up the good work
If the alphabet in the codex is indescribable, how do they know it's written right to left?
I asked myself the same question and immediately imagined the answer. Deciphers might not know the language, but they do know how languages and writing work. In a manuscript, a person starts writing until they no longer have space, but they're always tempted to finish the last word in a line, but when they go to the next line, they start exactly below the first letter of the previous line. This way, the first letters of all lines are aligned but the final ones aren't. This gives immediately the direction of writing. The same thing can be done for paragraphs to decide whether the author writes top-to-bottom or bottom-to-up.
Abdel Armstr Ah! That makes sense!
actually im pretty sure its old turkish
