Adam and Eve Ruined Everything for Us. How Is That Fair?

  • We were all born sick.
The sickness is Sin. It's not a tendency to sin that we brought upon ourselves... it's something we "caught" from our parents, that was passed down to us by our forefathers. This is Original Sin.
...but wait, how is that even fair?! Today, Fr. Mike reminds you that you are good and you were made good. But we are born with a wound that only our creator can heal.

@@estelita1111 so god chose to give us this “problem” of free will and punishes us when it goes wrong which, by the sounds of it, was an inevitable consequence… meaning the omniscient deity must have known as much. Punishing us for the problem he knowingly and willingly gave us, in other words. This is just one of a number of problems with the story of original sin and why the free will defence makes it worse.

    • @masscantbecreatedordestroy8868
      @masscantbecreatedordestroy8868 4 месяца назад +24

@@damienschwass9354You do present a tough question. Why would God create us, knowing that we would fall to original sin? Although it’s challenging, and potentially impossible, to give a concrete answer as this would require divine intervention, God is omniscient and thus has planned out his purpose for this human situation. You ignore the lamb of God, Jesus Christ, who took away the sins from Adam and Eve.
Reading Scripture carefully, we are led to the following conclusions:
      1. The fall of mankind was foreknown by God.
      2. The crucifixion of Christ, the atonement for God’s elect, was foreordained by God.
      3. All people will one day glorify God (Psalm 86:9), and God purposes “to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ” (Ephesians 1:10).
The point I’m trying to make is that God his has own timeline, and we cannot nor should not try to plan or decipher God’s intentions for this as it is a waste of time and hubris to think we can.

Unfortunately, our son passed away unexpectedly 4 months ago, at the age of 30. Gosh, if he were here today, I would share this video with him. Thank you, Fr. Mike for your videos. Father - As a born and raised Roman Catholic, I have spent a great deal of time thinking about the whole concept of Original Sin. And after many years of contemplation I have actually come to the conclusion that Original Sin is actually, like everything else from Our Father in Heaven, a great gift that we almost couldn't live without! If one doesn't have a profound sense of one's own deeply flawed nature, there's virtually no logical incentive to do anything to improve oneself and the environment in which we live.

This is such a screwed up doctrine. First, substitutional sacrifice is a disgusting idea. “I killed that guy because of something you did” does not fly in any context. Second, testing whether you believe sincerely enough under threat of punishment is immoral. “Nope, sorry, you had 1% doubt so you don’t get the prize!” Then put that in the context of an all-knowing God who already knew who would be damned before you were born, and the whole thing is an evil charade.

And now to see the world going into a state of absolute idiocy, what can I do to help save the people of our world is a question I continously ask myself, and I have no answer.

Cathecism of the Catholic Church (CCC) 412:
"But why did God not prevent the first man from sinning? St. Leo the Great responds, “Christ’s inexpressible grace gave us blessings better than those the demon’s envy had taken away.”* And St. Thomas Aquinas wrote, “There is nothing to prevent human nature’s being raised up to something greater, even after sin; God permits evil in order to draw forth some greater good. Thus St. Paul says, ‘Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more’; and the Exsultet sings, ‘O happy fault that earned so great, so glorious a Redeemer!'"
      But also CCC 314:
"We firmly believe that God is master of the world and of its history. But the ways of his providence are often unknown to us. Only at the end, when our partial knowledge ceases, when we see God “face to face,”* will we fully know the ways by which-even through the dramas of evil and sin-God has guided his creation to that definitive sabbath rest* for which he created heaven and earth."
      TL;DR:
God gives us a goodness infinitely better than the fall, by redeeming us through Jesus Christ. However, ultimately, we can only be given the best answer during our judgment after our live ends.

Adam and Eve are my favorite saints. Their mistake lets us prove our worth to God everyday by overcoming our weaknesses. Thank you Saints Adam and Eve!

I'm watching the video on my TV, but I just wanted to suggest something to you Fr. Mike, take a spoonful of honey. It'll coat your throat so you're not hacking up mucous so much or coughing as much. Also if you have a cold, lots of chicken noodle soup. Dr. Mom's advice (I say the same thing to my own son)

    Some questions:
If Adam and Eve were not yet fallen, how were they able to sin? Without having yet fallen, why would they desire to disobey God? If they were tricked, then how were they culpable?
Why does God allow original sin (or “original wound” as you call it) to be passed down? Why not just judge each person on a clean slate?

Father Mike said the answer that I realized myself. If you were in Adam & Eve's place, would you really have done any better than them? I think we'd only say yes because of hindsight.
Moreover, we eat the forbidden fruit *every day.* We have the opportunity to be faithful yet we choose things that are not God every day. It is massive pride to think we wouldn't have broken Creation. Only one man is perfect, and that is Jesus, whom we need to bring us back to God ❤️

So no, it would be abjectly unfair for an omnipotent being to deal with things in that fashion. Thanks for clarifying.
