I'm so glad to share Nightwish with you guys. They're so amazing and Tuomas (the keyboardist) wrights such wonderful music and lyrics. I have followed them since I heard them for the first time with the song Wish I had an Angel (oddly enough from the Saw I soundtrack) and have loved them ever since. They've been on a rough journey but remain strong and have some of the most loyal and passionate fans.
It’s the best that they’ve ever done and one of the best concerts of all time IMO. Their very souls where on fire that night and I envy those who got to witness this in person. But at the same time I’m really happy for them.
Indeed the performance of them ever. I sas them 2 years ago in amsterdam and it was good but not as good as this show. Reason also of the departure of the drummer(1 of the best in the world) and Marko(bassist).
The juxtaposition of her insane range and presence and this bands hard hitting insane talent is incredible Absolutely kickass. Jukka in Beast Mode on the drum kit…Everyone performing at the very highest level….as usual🤘
This song is 2nd lead singer, Anette Olzon, era. She has more of a pop/rock style. She didn't do operatic vocals, they were done with a choir then. Floor can do them, so she took over those parts herself when she joined. Floor is the most versatile singer. Ghost Love Score , that you started with, is an original lead singer ,Tarja Turunen, era song. She is the most operatic of the 3. Tuomas Holopainen is the name of the keyboardist who writes 90-95% of the songs, including the orchestral backing track recorded with the London Philharmonic. Stories and childhood innocence are themes that he likes. Recommend trying Romanticide, Everdream ,or Song of Myself next, all from this same show.
I concur with Romanticide, Everdream, or Song of Myself (links in Gabriel's list). I think if you aren't wedded to live, you might also enjoy the lyric video for _Tribal_ (from their last album).
Remember to buy tissues.. You are nowhere ready to hear that song but when you hear a song that starts with "the end" and ends with "the beggining" you will need them. Absolutely nothing is by coincidence in their "songs". The lyrics, the painting on the wall, the color of the background is all very carefully thought of by the mastermind, Tuomas Holopanien .. aka the metal mozart.

That's why/how I started to watch reaction channels...attending a Nightwish live concert beforehand. It blew my mind and I needed confirmation whether it happens to me alone or don't 😉

Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, was one of the songwriters in the band up until January 2021 at which time Marko Hietala, the bassist, vocalist and the only other songwriter in the band sadly departed for personal reasons (not against the band). Marko wrote a few whole songs which he sang himself, but also made small contributions lyricly to quite a few songs. Since Marko's departure, Tuomas became the sole songwriter for Nightwish. Nightwish's current album, "Human :II: Nature" released in April 2020, was Marko's last studio album recorded with Nightwish. This song is from the album "Imaginaerum", released in 2011 with singer Anette Olzon. Anette was fired in late September 2012 at which time Tuomas called on Floor Jansen to fill in on vocals for the remainder of the tour. Her debut with Nightwish was on October 1st in Seattle, Washington.... and the rest is still history in the making. Thank you so much for the video, reaction and comments. That said, based on your remarks about the story of religion, I think you would love to watch their live performance of Weak Fantasy (also in Gabriel's list). Floor, best of the best. Tuomas/keyboards/founder writes almost all the songs. He starts with an idea. Then he works on the lyrics and hears the music in his head at the same time. That's why he's called the Metal Mozart. When he finishes a piece, he plays it for the band members, and together they polish it to perfection. There are never any 'filler' songs written. The 'cult' following is better known as the Nightwish Army. 😊🤘

@@allunwakefield1912 yeah nah he said he left because it's mostly todays artists payments issues, which for sure can be a big contripution since labels are more brutal than ever towards artists but making records every years on annual gain. Still I think there was also something else not told because he is nonethless going to do his solo work. Could be no drama and like semi retired on his schedule, I don't know. It's just rare for someone leave like that without somekinda friction drama.

Floor is awesome, but my favourite bit of Storytime that you also mentioned is the incredible drum solo right before the opera part starts - those toms building and building and then the horns adding in on top is just majestic.
Thanks for an awesome reaction guys! I have to tell you, I saw these guys live three days ago in Amsterdam and if you think what you just saw was intense it’s nothing compared to what it’s like live. I was sitting pretty far away from the stage, but it felt like I was right infront of them, that’s the amount of stage presence they have, its insane! And her voice really sounds like this live, so there isn’t much done in post editing on these DVD’s. At least not when it comes to Floors voice. Keep the Nightwish reactions coming guys, you won’t regret it! 🤘🔥❤️
This song is off the Imaginarium album. There is also an Imaginarium movie. The album and movie can each stand alone but when you see how the songs were used in the movie and relate what was happening in the movie to the songs lyrics it adds depth to both. After seeing the movie I can never listen to the song "Last Ride of the Day" without putting it the context of the movie.
Arguably their most essential song, and the Wacken 2013 show may never be topped. One of those special one-of-a-kind moments in a band's career when everything came together just right.

Greetings from Finland! There is some awesome music from Finland, especially rock/heavy metal. Nightwish is one of the best Finnish bands. This is the third singer in the band (not a Finn). The first singer Tarja Turunen was more an opera singer, the earlier songs are opera and rock. You should try HIM - Wicked Love, that's another amazing Finnish band.
Tuomas, the keyboardist, is the one who wrote / writes nearly all of their songs. But he still runs the songs by the crew for a bit of trimming and tuning. His genius in composing earned him the nickname Metal Mozart (although Tuomas stylistically more takes after Wagner than Mozart. But I guess it has to do with the MM alliteration and the sheer fame and genius of Mozart)
Every song from this show is great but do "Last Ride of the Day" last! it's the festival ending and its beyond epic "Ever Dream" and "Romanticide" are some good next choices if yall want my opinion lol welcome to the Nightwish Army

Quite a bit if their music is written by Tommy Johanson, he's the lead guitar player for Sabaton. If you haven't heard Sabaton YOU NEED TO. Their songs are about battles through history. They just released another WW1 album that was top of Amazon for 2 weeks. A good song to start with is "Bismarck" it's about the Nazi's greatest battleship in WW2 being taken down by the Americans. It's an INSANE video. They sing songs from the perspective of all sides, and some of their music videos have history segments at the beginning to give context. "Night Witches" is a crazy one that you have to watch the history video. They were a Russian all woman battalion that flew in on gliders (extremely dangerous) and killed Nazis all in the middle of the night. It's a WILD song and a crazy story.

Theyre all the 1% of the 1% in their respective role. Its one of the most talented bands ever, especially from a group dynamic perspective. I dont think Ive ever seen a more synced band ever. Tuomas Holopainen, on the keyboard, writes essentially all their music. Generally nicknamed "The Mozart of Metal". I dont think I need to explain why, Check out Poet and the Pendulum. But make sure to read the backstory first, hits quite different if you do and you only get one first impression.
Nightwish is kinda perfect as a finnish band since we were the last in europe to go from pagan beleavis to christianity. For example vikings would consider finnish people as The Guys in terms of magic and how to practice it, so it was deep in here back back in the day. Many of the songs go in that kinda vain with the themes and presentation, it has this pop-culture feel with a slim string to our mythology called Kalevala in terms of the feel. (Like Kalevala is like a saga, important stories collected before they died out and was kept alive in poem form. For example Tolkien was very into it and took inspiration from it for Lord of the Rings since he wanted to make british a mythology since there wasn't really a proper one)(Really real Tolkien fans, Kalevala could be more easily to be compared to Silmarillion).
You will enjoy Amorphis. Start with their song Death Of A King and follow with The Bee. The official versions. They have mellower songs like brother and sister but these expres their vocal range perfectly.
Nice to see you checkig this out. You should check out some Therion if you are doing Symphonic Metal. I can recommend the video named: "THERION - Ginnungagap & Grand Finale (Live 2007)".
The drummers name is Jukka. Jukka is not with Nightwish anymore, they have different drummer now and his name is Kai. I think Kai is a pretty good drummer but I like Jukka better because he puts in more energy when drumming. Also the person who wrote this song and who writes all of the other Nightwish songs is the keyboard player in this band, his name is Tuomas

The first singer Tarja Turunen was more an opera singer, the earlier songs are opera and rock. You should try HIM - Wicked Love, that's another amazing Finnish band.

Tuomas, the keyboardist, is the one who wrote / writes nearly all of their songs. But he still runs the songs by the crew for a bit of trimming and tuning.
His genius in composing earned him the nickname Metal Mozart (although Tuomas stylistically more takes after Wagner than Mozart. But I guess it has to do with the MM alliteration and the sheer fame and genius of Mozart)

Quite a bit if their music is written by Tommy Johanson, he's the lead guitar player for Sabaton. If you haven't heard Sabaton YOU NEED TO. Their songs are about battles through history. They just released another WW1 album that was top of Amazon for 2 weeks. A good song to start with is "Bismarck" it's about the Nazi's greatest battleship in WW2 being taken down by the Americans. It's an INSANE video. They sing songs from the perspective of all sides, and some of their music videos have history segments at the beginning to give context. "Night Witches" is a crazy one that you have to watch the history video. They were a Russian all woman battalion that flew in on gliders (extremely dangerous) and killed Nazis all in the middle of the night. It's a WILD song and a crazy story.

Nightwish is kinda perfect as a finnish band since we were the last in europe to go from pagan beleavis to christianity. For example vikings would consider finnish people as The Guys in terms of magic and how to practice it, so it was deep in here back back in the day. Many of the songs go in that kinda vain with the themes and presentation, it has this pop-culture feel with a slim string to our mythology called Kalevala in terms of the feel.
(Like Kalevala is like a saga, important stories collected before they died out and was kept alive in poem form. For example Tolkien was very into it and took inspiration from it for Lord of the Rings since he wanted to make british a mythology since there wasn't really a proper one)(Really real Tolkien fans, Kalevala could be more easily to be compared to Silmarillion).

You will enjoy Amorphis. Start with their song Death Of A King and follow with The Bee. The official versions. They have mellower songs like brother and sister but these expres their vocal range perfectly.

The drummers name is Jukka. Jukka is not with Nightwish anymore, they have different drummer now and his name is Kai. I think Kai is a pretty good drummer but I like Jukka better because he puts in more energy when drumming. Also the person who wrote this song and who writes all of the other Nightwish songs is the keyboard player in this band, his name is Tuomas
