    aspen tend not to grow in forests, as they're intolerant of shade. you'll see them, tho, at the edge of forests. if you see what looks like an aspen in a forest, it's most likely it's look-a-like, the paper birch.

      yes, it's almost like a snow storm in one of those days with a lot of pollen.

    I have three in my side yard that are not so happy. 40-50ft tall. Any tips on fertilizer/helping them?

      use powdered mushrooms, they sell a container with powder in hardware stores in the gardening section. Sprinkle it all around the trees very sparsely into the soil like at least 1 inch deep. After a couple of weeks the mushrooms will create themselves the network of roots deeper and deeper and help the tree roots.
