- In this video we will look at what is involved in replacing the intake boot on a Husqvarna 435 chainsaw. I've got the whole saw ripped apart so if you've ever wondered whats inside, nows your chance to see. #smallenginerepair
I love it ‘his bar and chain aren’t cutting straight!” He’s never serviced the saw, reversed, or deburred the bar, and he tensions the chain wayyy to much. Got a minute to talk to him and solve his problem verbally so he doesn’t have to pay to get it fixed! Been there, done that lol!
Got to love the clam shell saws! Good stuff as always thanks for sharing!
Thanks for tuning in.
The screws are the hardest part. The tendency is take out and toss. I’ve used baggies and lightly reinstalling. Impressive when someone goes by memory.
I guess thats why I group them because how many you have is just as important as what size when you're guessing where they go 🙂
@@TheGreasyShopRag yeah, but after you dump them out of an old coffee can. Lol
I used to have to replace the intake boots on my old Honda. I blamed it on the bike vibrating so much at high RPMs, but I had to replace them almost every year. You'd think they'd have come up with a solution or a replacement for the plastic/rubber boots.
Cool video
Every year seems excessive. Was there a carb support bracket missing?
Okay, something new to check. Intake rubber boot.
I can see a Flex Tape commercial...
"Here we have a torn rubber manifold boot..."
Thats funny
Nice Job 😊 I Just Had Another K770 Intake Boot Torn Repair Monday and a Makita Concrete Saw Intake Boot Yesterday 😀👍🏼
Scott what's your preffered grease for the worm gear/needle bearing/crank arm? Is molybdenum a good choice? Or a standard kind of axle grease?
I bought one of these refurbished but new an after 2 times of running it the recoil took a crap it fell apart on the inside I drilled it out an put a screw thru the sender with a nut on it an used it more then a dozen times now an it works no issues , if ya ask me some designs are cheap an crap
I agree, and its worst with starters because they are always making them more complicated in order to make them easier to pull.
I recently tried to renovate a 435, it was deformed in the case due to overheating near the clutch side, possibly due to no chain oil during prolonged period. But I just can’t get it tight, it’s leaking at the clutch side bearing, even though I was really cautious with the gasket and put in new seals. Are these prone to these leaks? Much prefer the 300 series…
If you know its warped then use sealant like Ken suggested in another comment.
Great vid Scott! No sealant required on the seal OD’s?
You can and sometimes I do but there wasn't any sealant there from the factory and the workshop manual makes no reference to it.
I guess if the saw runs good without having to turn the screws out 4 or 5 turns then it's good to go!
Great repair Scott!
Geeze, that guide plate is tore up and there's a chunk of plastic missing from the rear handle.
I'd be asking the customer how he sleeps at night. Must be starting and cleaning out chips with golf shoes.
@@alans.4658 Torn up guide plates are pretty popular at our shop.
Off topic ?. Do you know of a good reliable source of aftermarket parts? I've got a Stihl 011 that needs a piston cyl. set. Stihl dealer says they're not available.
Thanks, W 👍🍻
We use oem parts whenever possible so I can't recommend anyone. Thanks for watching.
What happened to the boot ???😮
Gremlins.
