I like the idea of "let the layout tell me", that loop looks great. I do agree with you, the incline adds something interesting to that look. Also, really impressed with you approach to the lift bridge, you cut those angles perfectly and that foam idea around the base looks cool. Glad to see the 3 Rails 4 Dads boxcar being used as the test car!
Great to reconnect with your progress, Dave. You show us how patience and focus lead to problem solving and innovation. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Looking good, Dave. I used different curve sections straddled the way you did your straights to achieve modified radiusess to align with adjoining track sections.
Just finished my lift out bridge using the same hinges as you and I also need to make another for an upper level… kinda winging the track work also . Same with the tools and track laying all over. Keep up the great work!!
Way to go Dave! Let the track decide where it wants to go. At the beginning of the video, I thought you were going to try to run track on top of that building.
Very nice! Sometimes, when you get delayed by other things, it gives you time to think about the layout project. Your new curve and bridge will look cool, when done and it will be neat to see the inside main up and running. I like what you did with that track, to measure the length that you need. It is a really nice solution. I've delayed putting the foam down on my layout, so I could get my slot car room cleaned out and the tracks back together. That will add another dimension to my channel. Before that, I took out the O72 curve on the outside main and changed it to a hybrid O96/O72, which makes it roughly O81/82, solving the problem of locating K-Line O81. I have a video showing the test run on the new curves, on my Chooch's Trains channel. It's great to see big passenger trains running around wide curves. Either way, an excellent update and video, as always.
@@dagryffynhobby Thanks, Dave. There is still lots of work to be done. Unfortunately, keeping up with the falling leaves is taking priority. Hopefully, I'll get back to the layout in a few days.
Hey Dave.Have you ever consider a railroad crossing with lights. It adds action to your layout.Another thing I like to do is having loads on flatcars. You doing great work on your layout.. I like that lift bridge with the switch to cut power. To stop train from going off the layout.
Thanks. I’ve considered a lot of things that I haven’t gotten to yet! The problem with building your first large layout is that there is just so much to do!
@dagryffynhobby Funny story. One of my MTH locomotives started slipping. With a train it would normally pull.So I have some denatured alcohol whipped down the tracks. And waited a few days. Now she back to pulling trains.Forgot about cleaning track ever now and then.
Ya gotta think of the entire cycle playing with trains no matter if running or building or even tearing up. The time spent is for self entertainment and supposed to be enjoyable. Mess and all.
A few reasons, initially it was cost, switches would have tripled the cost to get started with what I wanted. Simplicity and frustration free running, I don’t have derailments. I can let trains run for an hour or more and I don’t need to worry about something getting hung up on a switch. I like to run old Marx trains and their wheels are too wide for switches.
Nothing like getting stuff done even little progress feels great!
Every step is a step forward
Nice work with some great solutions.
And us railroaders always got to remind each other from time to time that it's a marathon & not a race.👍👍
Thanks. I am in no rush. Besides if I “finish” this layout, I’ll want to start a new one.

Thanks, I may have cut it perfectly but it took multiple tries!
The 3Rails car is the first to cross any new track on the layout
Nice work Dave👍🏻🚂
Many thanks!
You are a patient man.😊
I don’t know about that! lol

Thanks so much.
Glad to see you’re making progress Dave
Thanks Corey!
Looking good, Dave. I used different curve sections straddled the way you did your straights to achieve modified radiusess to align with adjoining track sections.
Thanks. It’s a good method, I remember reading about it many years ago, glad i remembered to do it
Thank You Dave for the update
Of course!
Let the layout tell you. Man, that’s DEEP
Haha, I’m a deep guy. It’s like the foam, I don’t carve it, it reveals itself to me 👩🎨
Just finished my lift out bridge using the same hinges as you and I also need to make another for an upper level… kinda winging the track work also . Same with the tools and track laying all over. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks! That’s great! Winging it is more fun than planning, at least to me
I like that track measurement idea, because I still have alot of lionel tubular track plus some Menards track.!!🤔
Thanks it worked great
“Sidetracked” good unintentional pun
I try to subtly sneak in some train puns from time to time
great idea on zip ties on track
Thanks!

I was wondering that myself
It looked that way
Thanks. Track on top of the building, hmm now you got me thinking! Lol
AWESOME JOB Dave
Thank you!
Very amazing job!
Thank you!

Thanks and I agree.
Those curves look great on your layout, I love wide sweeping curves

@ I’ve had that happen too. One of these days I’ll build a tack cleaning car that I can just run all the time.
It’s always a good day when mr. Dave uploads 😊. Have you ever thought about a bastille bridge?
Thank you! I have thought about one many times!
Awsum!!!!!!”;-)”🚂👍
Ya gotta think of the entire cycle playing with trains no matter if running or building or even tearing up. The time spent is for self entertainment and supposed to be enjoyable. Mess and all.
A bad day in the train room is better than a good day most other places
i have lots of bridges but no lift bridge
Bridges are great, lift bridges a necessity (better than a duck under)
What is the reasoning to not having switches?
