प्रत्येक मनुष्य अपने गुणों अवगुणों के कारण उस पर ब्रम्ह को अलग अलग रूपों में पूजता या भजता है और वह उसके लिए वैसे ही रूप को धारण कर लेते हैं।

In Indian scriptures, the creation came into existence with the play and interplay of sHIVA - Purusha and sHAKTI - Prakriti or the male and the female energies. And this energy is also represented as Lingam and the Yoni or if we use the binary system code then they will be known as one and zero.
Shivlinga and the Yoni, which is the base of Shivlinga are representations of Binary code / System -The Zero and The Line, which in the language of Nuclear Physics are known as wave and particle duality of an atomic particle. They are also known as Prakash and Vimarsh in Kashmir Shavism.
Bindu and Rekha .
In Indian Sanatan dharma, this binary code is worshipped in the form of Shivalinga. In actuality, human generative organs represent the binary of 1 (male) and 0 (female). Even the alphabet of the Sanskrit language is structured according to the binary code of line 1 and circle 0. If we look at the letter अ, it is made from two half circles joined together plus two lines.
In the same Devanagari numerals are made from 0 and 1 for example -- look at १, २, ३, etc. Sanskrit is the only language in the world in which letters are written in Binary Code of 1 and 0 and it is similar to scripts of computer software, where electrical signals are encoded in an off manner when they are on it is 1 and when they are off then it 0. Even the whole creation is based upon this system of Binaries - where Purusha -Man is 1(his generative organ) and Prakriti - Woman (her womb or yoni) is 0. So not only has infinite intelligence embedded the binary code in the DNA, but subnuclear particles also show the binary function by behaving either as a wave or as a dimensionless particle, a dot.
When it functions as a particle, it is 0 (Sunya), and when it spreads like a wave, it is the beginning of the two-dimensional line. In Sankhya philosophy, this is known as the play of Prakriti and the Purusha, and in Tantra, the play of Shiva and the Shakti, and through this play, all creation comes into existence.

मिस्री सभ्यता में १० की संख्या को पूर्ण संख्या मानते थे। १ - एक की संख्या पुरुष जनेन्द्रियों का प्रतीक है व O - शून्य की संख्या स्त्री की जनेन्द्रियों की प्रतीक है। हिब्रू - यहुदियों भाषा में उनकी वर्णमाला में सबसे छोटा अक्षर योद (१०) है। यह सब अक्षरों का पिता है। यह भी पुरुष - स्त्री का प्रतीक है। मिस्री - ईरानी प्रतीक 1 पुरुष - स्त्री के योनि प्रसंग का सबसे पूर्ण प्रतीक था। पुरुष अपनी पत्नी की ऊँगली में अँगूठी इसलिए पहनाता था कि वह दोनों के पूर्ण संसर्ग की प्राप्ति की ओर संकेत है।

दशमलव पद्धति को कम्प्यूटर की भाषा में बाइनरी कोड या सिस्टम कहते हैं इसी कोड में कंप्यूटर की सारी स्क्रिप्ट लिखी जाती है। सांख्य दर्शन में प्रकृति व पुरुष को सृष्टि का मूल कारण बताया गया है ,इसका अर्थ यही है कि सारी सृष्टि का जन्म दशमलव पद्धति या बाइनरी कोड के आधार पर है। संस्कृत को भी कम्प्यूटर भाषा कहा जाता है वह इसलिए कि संस्कृत के सभी वर्णों की रचना भी 1 व 0 से हुई है अतः यह दशमलव पद्धति व बाइनरी कोड पर आधारित है।

सारी सारी सृष्टि का आधार द्वैत है। जहाँ द्रष्टा है वहाँ उसके अवलोकन के लिए दृश्य होना आवश्यक है। और वेदों के अनुसार सृष्टि का प्रारम्भ इसी प्रकार होता है। जहाँ जो "एक" है सृष्टि पूर्व अवस्था में वह अपने होने को जानना चाहता है इसलिए वह "पर" का निर्माण करता है ,पर वह "पर " केवल एक दर्पण मात्र है जो उस "एक " का प्रतिबिम्ब मात्र है। इसी अवस्था को सांख्य दर्शन में प्रकृति व पुरुष रूप में प्रस्तुत किया गया है जहाँ पुरुष नितांत निश्चेष्ट static स्टैटिक द्रष्टा है व वहीँ प्रकृति एक क्रियाशील डायनामिक -गतिशील ऊर्जा है जो ' परम पुरुष ' को समर्पित है। यहाँ समर्पण दोनों तरफ से है क्योंकि पुरुष की स्टैटिक एनर्जी , प्रकृति की डायनामिक एनर्जी में परिवर्तित हो विश्व को प्रकट करने में में सहायक होती है। इसको विज्ञानं में centripetal सेंट्रिपिटल फाॅर्स व सेन्ट्रीफ्यूगल centrifugal फ़ोर्स कहते हैं। प्रकृति व पुरुष आपस में अभिन्न हैं एक बिना दूसरे का अस्तित्व संभव नहीं। काश्मीर शैव दर्शन इसे प्रकाश व विमर्श कहते है जैसे सूर्य और उसका ताप एक ही हैं , ताप या किरणे ,सूर्य का विस्तार मात्र है ,और यही विस्तार ही सृष्टि या प्रकृति है। चन्द्रमा की शीतलता उसमें समाहित है उससे भिन्न नहीं हैं। यही श्रीयंत्र का बिंदु व नाद भी हैं बिंदु होने से ही नाद प्रकट होता है। संस्कृत वर्णमाला के बिंदु व विसर्ग भी यही है। अ - अं - अः ,यहाँ अ सृष्टि का जनक वर्ण सृष्टि पूर्व अवस्था को बताता है 'आ' AA से ही सृष्टि का प्रारम्भ होना होता है। वहीँ अं - अः उसके विस्तार हैं अ या अं पुरुषाक्षर हैं जो नर जनेन्द्री का प्रतीक हैं और वहीँ वर्ण अः के दो लम्बवत (-लम्बरूप -सीधे उपरकी ओर ) स्त्री जनेन्द्री के प्रतीक हैं अतः स्त्री इसलिए ही एक नारी प्रकृति स्वरूपा होती है।

Tattva or that essence itself is what is Sanatan
यज्ञशिष्टामृतभुजो यान्ति ब्रह्म सनातनम् |
नायं लोकोऽस्त्ययज्ञस्य कुतोऽन्य: कुरुसत्तम || (4.31) - those who consume the remenants after offering it to the others, reach the Brahma which is Sanatan.
परस्तस्मात्तु भावोऽन्योऽव्यक्तोऽव्यक्तात्सनातन: |
य: स सर्वेषु भूतेषु नश्यत्सु न विनश्यति ||8.20
ममैवांशो जीवलोके जीवभूत: सनातन: |
मन:षष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति || (15.7) -
'all' the beings are his ansh or part of it !
That Tattva or the Brahma and also the अव्यय बीज - (the one which cannot be changed)these are all what is Sanatan! Sanatan is not a dharma, but indeed the description of that tattva on which each and every thing and each and every being thrives!

THIS IS THE TRUTH IN VEDAS, RAMAYANA, MAHABHARATA & GITA: In main Hinduism, Shiva is not paramathman. Narayana is paramathman & Shiva's aradhya. Shiva is Adiyogi, he is always doing Tapasya on Aradhya Narayana to guide him in controlling his anger. Narayana has control of all his senses, Shiva has control of all but one, his anger. The word Namaste also comes from original Hinduism concept of Narayana, where Narayana is every where, including in people, so people bow & solute 'Namaste' or 'Namaskara' to one another.

Narayana of a multiverse, nurtures a Brahma (creation) & Shiva (destruction) of that multiverse. No where will God of Destruction be given full control of multiverse because though Brahma has many vices, Shiva has just one vice, his anger is uncontrolled. But, Shiva, by doing Tapas, will one day gain control over his anger & that day he will become a new Narayana Paramathman with his own multiverse, birthing from him, like lotus from pond, & he will become separate entirely from this multiverse. A Brahma will then become new Shiva of this multiverse & a new Brahma will be promoted, possibly an Indra.

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW ORIGINAL USE OF LINGA?
The original concept of Athman / Paramathman Narayana is that we cannot see Narayana as a whole (source: Mahabharata, Gita) because humans are flawed creatures with limited vision. So, the humans create idols of what they want to see in Narayana. This is why all cultures create their own idols like Christians have cross. Even the formless view of Narayana in your mind, is an idol. Idol need not be made of stone.
Now, in temples they used to make & install rounded surface linga tool, under idol, envisioned by priests to allow Narayana to step on rounded surface of linga. Then the priest would pour holy water or milk to wash the feet of invisible Narayana paramthman on Linga, collect the liquid & make prasad out of it, during rituals.
Also if there is any one with impure thoughts in temple, like watching girls, etc during rituals, the third eye of linga will open & burn them to ash. This is the original use of linga in temples.
