Upon hearing this repeatedly, I appreciate even more the HYPONOTIZING, silken softness of the first two stanzas - which is necessary to highlight the naked despair of the third! I also realize that the chair with which you lie down symbolizes the cage in which the character is imprisoned - in her unendurable "Hörigkeit," her bondage to Johnny.
