- We beach launch the dinghy off the Stratham Beach between Busselton and Bunbury in search for a feed of skippy. We try to give it a crack for 2 days but only managing a coupla skippy each time. Either way it's a great way to spend a mid week morning even though the wind hates us! Ha
We put the first days skippy fillets in a brine and ran them through the smoker...turned out amazing! Easy one of my favourite types of fish to smoke.
Thanks for watching!

Still yet to find em mate!! Weather has been so shit but hoping next week we find some!!
Looks great do the salmon run along that beach ,we had a fridge dad made into a smoker yum ,Kelly cracked me up l😅hello
Yeah I'm pretty sure alot of the salmon cut across the bay and stay out wide but have seen a bits n pieces when diving this time of the year. Hahaha farkin ello 😳😄
Arr fridge smoker would be great!! Use the racks in it hey?
Awesome skippy sessions. Shame about the wind kicking up though. Good to see Kel out and about slaying the fish 🎣.
Yeah the bloody wind, forever challenging us it is! We bound to get a glass off day one day haha. Yeah need Kel on the boat so we actually catch something! 😄🙌
Love Skippy, they go good. Not sure if you have tried them Sashimi style crew - Worth it! Jed you will one day remember to put Ali foil under your hot smoker rack and save yourself and Kel Hours of clean up LOL. Great to see you out there having fun. We just got back from a North Reccy, and had a ball. Went for a look at the Caravan and Camping show over the weekend and had a great time! Finally got our Dingy sorted, getting her ready for a run in July! . Thanks for sharing the laughs! Stay safe, have fun! 🐟🍺😁🎣
Oh nice one! Where you going in July?
Ha yeah we were gunna do ali foil but so far surprisingly it cleans so so easy (plus Kel loves cleaning up my mess 😅😉)
I've had Golden Trevs as Sashimi but not Skippy, I'll giver a crack next time we get a decent one👍.
@@oldmate_adventures South of Exmouth Run :) Just doing a two week recover the head and learn the young lads some camping fun! Will hit the old whaling stations for some history! Should be a laugh! Yea give the Skippy a whirl Sashimi, you will be pleasantly surprised ;)🍺😁
Team Jelly Strikes again.
Great to see Kelly back in action.. but seeing it was a fishing mission it was to be expected. 😂😂
You are correct about Skippy being a great fish to smoke.. fantastic..
Great episode as per usual..
Catch you on the next one champ cheers..🤙🤙
Haha yeah she's all over it hey! 😄
Yeah mate I've found any Trevally species are great smoked hey. Cheers Mr Payne 👍 🍻
Nice vid mate 👍 I know that area 👍 lost a good snapper from the kayak out there.
Oh bugga mate! Yeah I seen a fella a while back on a kayak bring in a coupla good pinkies from there. Anytime after a good storm they come in close there.
I love these videos. Great fun to watch. I'm amazed at how well your boat handles the chop. But it is hard to tell these days with the new gopros. Well done both of you. Another great episode 🎣🍻
Cheers mate, much appreciated 👍! Yeah it's super stable being more of a punt design but very "slappy" when there is chop about.
@oldmate_adventures good way to test how far you can go with it mate. 👌
Well done on the skippy Jed ... I mean Kelly.. good job. Beach there looks awesome. Do you think you would catch whiting from that beach land based . It looks like a great spot for some beach fishing or a kayak in close.
What sort of reel did you buy for your new one. ???
Haha yeah she slays pretty good hey! I'm just there as a skipper 😄.
Arrr it's so so for land based, always ppl there havin a crack so might do pretty good.
Kel bought me a Shimano Nasci 4000. She has the 2500 size and is a lovely reel for the price. They have a good drag weight for their size also 👍👍
I just bought a Shimano 5500 Ultegra mainly for casting and lure retrieval.
Used it on Saturday for the first time .
Got those Silver Perch on it and my Diawa Seajigger
@Simon Seppelt nice one mate 👍 👌!
