Album "Mathis Magic" (1979). Written by Billy Joel. No copyright infringement is intended with this upload, it's for enjoyment of the public and for the fans of Johnny Mathis.
THIS IS THE definitive version of this timeless CLASSIC. I've heard the other versions done by other talented artists but Johnny Royce Mathis owns this song. He sings this with the kind of tender, wistful and reflective emotional content that this song calls for. Streisand does a fine version of this as well but somehow Babs seems to miss the mark which is rare for her. When I first heard this as a 15 year old boy I was walking one beautiful evening during the Autumn in Queens New York and when this came across the airwaves it resonated with me immediately. I was wearing headphones at the moment and the sound quality was SUPERB. I felt the full effect of the orchestra (extremely classy) and Mathis voice and the unique relationship between the two and in that moment New York City became a part of my SPIRIT. Ever since then I have been on a mission to find this song and FINALLY thanks to RUclips I can enjoy it and relive that irreplaceable, moment in time. It would be a tragedy if this album is not put out as a CD. It is a priceless GEM.
Beautiful! Thanks for posting. Why on Earth this album has not been marketed on DVD or digitally is beyond me? I've been waiting for this album for years. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it were available. I own the album but I played it to death back in the day.

I think Billy Joel might be amused to hear "Johnny Royce Mathis owns this song" regardless of how that was meant.
Curtis Ostriker that gentle wistfulness, definitely. It's the same way I've always felt about his Misty.
