I’m from Surinam. When this song came out Buju was running our airwaves day after day. He came to perform and we were inside watching him perform . People outside broke the gate of the stadium to come in. Instead of holding them back he told the security to let the people in to come listen because he made music telling tales of the poor. He represented them.

This man is a legend and his music is an inspiration to many especially Zimbabwean people across political divide his music kept consciousness and liberation in mind after Bob Marley till this time The righteous Words are from Almighty God. Buju for me he is an instrument a vessel of the voice of the voiceless.
I remember about 18 years ago I attended one of his performances, and after the show we (the fans) lined up next to the door that led backstage to meet him and when the show ended he walked right by us and it seemed like he wasn’t going to stick around for the autographs and he was about to leave, I shouted out to him, “Buju” he turns and looks at me and waves me down to go back stage with him. He even told the security guard, who wouldn’t let me in, to let me through There was a long line of people waiting to get his autograph and meet him but I was the only one Buju let in and signed my cds and shirt. Big up Buju! 👊🏻

I hope Buju Baton come out with his own movie explaining his life, his history, and his legacy. So people can have a better inner standing of his life. What inspire him to make music, who he look up to and how his life changed. It would be interesting to see him out with a movie. Bob Marley came out with a movie.
My brother loved this song so much. He was a big fun of buju banton that he changed his name to AJ Banton. He passed on this year on june 23rd 2021. Each time i hear your songs, my heart is filled mixed emotions
I somehow , unexpectedly/unintentionally, recieved this album on a CD in the mailbox as a kid , 1995, having no idea why/how/what it was. I never ever forget these timeless songs. More profound as ever , now .
This is my favourite song to sing to my son. His grandparents on the dads side is Ghanaian and Caribbean. The dad doesn't want anything to do and i dont have access to his parents so I hope my son will feel some connection to his roots through music, music I love anyway. My boy is 4 months old now. I know every word x
Crazy how the world spoils these rappers with so much money thru streams and online stuff back 15 years ago none of the artist had the key (internet) and never got full recognition and respect they deserve
I heard this song in 1999 when completred my undergrad. It still holds true 21 years later. My God. That line "When mama spend her last and send you go class never you ever play. " That gets me everytime! and thank you mama.
mi granny bless her soul..used to say dat line all the time...patois..👉."teif neva luv fi see teif wit long bag"... regular English👉 "theif never love to see thief With long bag"...in other words...(you stay broke like me) or (I don't want you to have more than me)..or (just plain hating on you moving up in life)...etc
My mom played this song everyday when I was being rude in high school. Funny enough it did touched my mind, and i cried. Studied hard, now I got a Bsc degree. It motivated me....
This and "Not an easy road" motivated me too as an immigrant in my 40s to finish college in Canada...and I'm from Romania. I can only imagine how it must feel when born Jamaican.

I never mention this song to anybody here... Back at home, I think I was at least 10, I would flip through the very limited channels, but as my heart picked up the beat I would get to this song even if it was almost over... My emotions haven't changed and I am now 30... He is one of my heroes, and will always be an important part of my history... Singed- Brillianna Watt... Peace and one Love

I'm an I always listen Buju Banton songs
I hope Buju Baton come out with his own movie explaining his life, his history, and his legacy. So people can have a better inner standing of his life.
What inspire him to make music, who he look up to and how his life changed.
It would be interesting to see him out with a movie. Bob Marley came out with a movie.
My brother loved this song so much.
He was a big fun of buju banton that he changed his name to AJ Banton.
He passed on this year on june 23rd 2021.
Each time i hear your songs, my heart is filled mixed emotions
I put this song just a half-step below "Redemption Song" as one of the most powerful compositions ever recorded.
ruclips.net/video/fjuwL3L0OLI/видео.html Listen this
I put it a half step above redemption song. That's how good it is
@@saraharries7566redemption song was one of the last songs ever written by Bob Marley - sorry this song can’t compare
Bring back this kinda music to much badman music out in the world
I somehow , unexpectedly/unintentionally, recieved this album on a CD in the mailbox as a kid , 1995, having no idea why/how/what it was.
I never ever forget these timeless songs. More profound as ever , now .
Buju music is not reggae or dancehall or any other genre Buju is a music genre himself

🥲
Jamaicans don’t know how special they are and that is why “they” keep you divided, deliberately but the veil will lift ❤❤❤

mi granny bless her soul..used to say dat line all the time...patois..👉."teif neva luv fi see teif wit long bag"... regular English👉 "theif never love to see thief With long bag"...in other words...(you stay broke like me) or (I don't want you to have more than me)..or (just plain hating on you moving up in life)...etc
Unfaulted relevance to the brim...
My mom played this song everyday when I was being rude in high school. Funny enough it did touched my mind, and i cried. Studied hard, now I got a Bsc degree. It motivated me....
Well done 👏🏾 ✔
Congratulations.
I wished my son would take a page out of your book.
This and "Not an easy road" motivated me too as an immigrant in my 40s to finish college in Canada...and I'm from Romania. I can only imagine how it must feel when born Jamaican.
Good mom
This song always touch me. Every word is reality what we living especially in the Caribbean...
It's a competitive world for low budget people.
