Welcome to the world of Ren. In all my years I've never seen an artist like this guy. He can literally do everything to a very high level. Covering many different genres. He's a musical chameleon and a completely independent artist. He just got a number one album in the UK. He has quite the impressive back catalogue already! He's also working on a possible Netflix series, an alternative kinda musical from what he's said.

Yay! Another new RENegade! There's a lot for you to discover, he's versatile. Take a look at the thank you video Ren put on his channel when he hit 1 million subs earlier this year. It's only short, but it sums up a lot about his philosophy of life, and a bit about his history too.
For theatricality check out the Tale of Jenny and Screech. It's a trilogy of related stories, best watched together in the full 13 minute video. There is more playing on a flamenco guitar there too. Also, the Money Game trilogy. Parts 1 and 3 are intricate live one take videos. Part 2 is just a lyric video but the lyrics are genius.

@@GP42Reacts Since I already started recommendation I might as well be a good guy and do it more completely. Ren's extremely versatile. Here's my reaction suggestion, based on genre/theme and no particular order you can do it based on your preference:
1. Political/Philosophical plus a bit theatre: Money Game Part 1,2 and 3 (3 songs and can be done together or separately).
2. Old time classics cover: War Pigs (busking one), English Man in New York (all under Big Push)
3. Nostalgia: Bittersweet Symphony (he called this one retake as all lyrics he penned are new)/What you want

5. About lost: Su!clde/For Joe (don't want to spoil so I'll just say this is about someone that he lost)

I do believe you will have fun with Ren. He is in Canada now for this entire year getting 5xweek treatment for brain damage, autoimmunity MCAS, and othet damage from 7 years of misdiagnosed Lyme disease. He still managed, as an independent artist to capture a #1 album in the UK for Sick Boi. I also recommend the Tales of Jenny and Screech for more great guitar and then Seven Sins and Big Push,What Kind Of Woman Is This.

Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole! He is the ultimate 'expect the unexpected' artist. Your reggae observation is on the money as you'll find in many of his songs, particularly his Bob Marley / Damian Marley I shot the sheriff mash up (red braces version - you'll see what I mean). A lot of his songs reference directly / indirectly his struggles with Lyme disease, originally misdiagnosed, still being treated. You'll get so many suggestions what to react to next, I'd suggest ALL his street busking songs, his Murderer video and acoustic version of the same. Genesis and all the Money Game songs. Ren has an amazing videographer, he does these amazing one take videos. This is a live performance. Although there are multiple cameras it had to be shot in one take, I believe he said it took 18 times.
4 times. He used the third take. He was strapped for time. The guy that let them use the space wanted them to leave. Ren had to talk his way into letting get a half hour to finish.
This is not a one take but an amalgam of multiple takes. Some mic’d. Some not mic’d and then separate hand held. But live playing and singing for the audio track but some lip syncing of course during the scenes with no mic.
@@CreativePhotoWSi don’t believe he said there was any lip syncing it was just trying the sync the some of the shots from the other 3 takes to fit with the 3rd takes audio

I really enjoyed your reaction. Ren is amazing, and I subscribed hoping you will do more. If you look ked that guitar, and the theatrical aspect of this one, try the Tale of Jenny and Screech. It's important to do the full version all at once though, because you'll want to pay attention to the way the 3 stories are related. Ren has music in many different styles, and he does all of them well. If you like the island vibe, try his band (The Big Push) and their cover/mashup of I shot the sheriff/road to Zion/ hip hop.
So what are the three songs I need to do for the trilogy in order I’ll make that a priority
Jenny’s Tale, Screech’s Tale and Violet’s Tale. There’s a video available that has all three back to back.
While I’m here, I’d recommend you do the Tale of Jenny and Screech next, but I have some suggestions that maybe a little different: How to be me by Ren X Chinchilla (live), Illest of our time - Ren, Bongo Bongo - The Big Push, Losing It Fisher Rap retake - Ren.
Ren uses natural spaces to create these beautiful acoustics in several of his videos. Be sure to listen out in the Tales.

Ren is a monster. He literally can step into any genre and knock it out of the park. Acoustic, classic piano, reggae, rap, edm, solo, duets, beatboxing. I haven't been a fan of rap since Bone, Thugz in the late 90s. I cannot stop listening to Ren. Check out The Humger, I Shot The Sheriff, Chalk Oulines (Live x Chinchilla), Su!cide...there isn't a track you won't be impressed with. Going to sub if you go down the Ren-hole.

Ren is an artist like I haven't seen in decades. He and his fans call his genre 'bardcore'. You'll quickly see why. His acting in performance pieces like Hi Ren, The Tales of Jenny and Screech, and Money Game Parts 1-3, while walking around, playing guitar and singing or telling a story is mind-blowing. A rising tide lift all ship, so I sub. Ren inspired a bunch of us to support reactore just like you, as he got a number 1 sell in UK for the Sick Boi album without never been played on radio and never did a show to promot the album, all of it is due to his talent and the conextion with the reactor comunauty on YT, all of it being far from his home, receiving IV traitement 5 day/week. This independant genius will shake you, make you laugh, an even make you cry. Enjoye the journey 🙂

I appreciated your review, especially the fact that you picked up on the discordant guitar riff. I found the same technique used in Charlie Daniels Band's 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' (when the devil plays the fiddle) and Gordon Lightfoot's 'Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald', where Lightfoot cleverly used discomforting tones throughout the song.
Ren is absolutely amazing. He will definitely bring you on a journey. There’s so many different genres that he taps into. You should also watch some of his videos with his band called The Big Push. They do an I Shot The Sheriff/Mount Zion/hip-hop mashup. They also have a mash up with War Pigs and a couple songs.

I personally only listen to a handful of artists, and this was my introduction to Ren, and I have been hooked since then. I would have also recommended FALLING IN REVERSE Watch the world burn and voices in my head and Last Resort (reimagined). For some reason, I assume people already know of Ronnie Radke, so I forget to mention him, but he's also one of thr handful I listen to.

I'm here for more Ren. Ren's number 1 album (in the UK) came out on Oct 13th (sick boi), he was also on the US top 100 and 200 Billboard charts. That week he got number 1 on most sold albums on itunes, that same list had Brave2 at number 9. Nice seeing independent artist make the charts.

If you want to check out his rap, Power and 7 sins are a good start. If you want to hear more singing, Chaulk Outlines (live version) and Humble are good. He also used to play w/ a band called The Big Push. People who react to Ren also often check those out too. They cover everything from Bob Marley (yes, you were right on w/ the reggae influence) to Black Sabbath and they always have their unique twist on them. If you do these, usually the series where he's wearing read suspenders are the best.

I'm in my 60's and never listened to rap until Tom McDonald. While I was watching Tom, RUclips suggested Ren. That was months ago and I'm still in the Ren Rabbit Hole. I love that both of these artists address social issues. Their style is entirely different. I've often thought about what Ren and Tom could do together. Oh yes, Ren raps! This piece and some others are self-referential, but he does far more than this. Ren is creating a whole new performance genre - for the internet { but also Live }. Hi Jimmy. Loved your reaction to this! Just came over after watching your reaction to War Pigs. That one was good and I like Ozzy over Marley; but my favorite Ren (The Big Push) jam is "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop". I think that it was the massage set they did before War Pigs (kick in the face). There are a couple covers of I Shot the Sheriff, so make sure that you do the one where Ren is wearing the Red Suspenders. It is the best. Keep up the great reactions! 🙂❤

Thanks for a great reaction welcome to the RABBIT HOLE. I will say that if you do more Ren that you pause when you react and then go back like 5 seconds because you’ll learn that Ren doesn’t waste words. And you’ll want to catch them all. Ren does sing some Bob Marley ….. and raps. And does ballads. He does it all. You’ll be a RENegade before you know it.
