Reality has finally set in and on this episode the tone, tenor is right on the mark. We can be excited for next year and once this year's team shows us something much different then we can het excited for them. At rhis point, we simply need to see an improved, more consistent effort and product on the court. It's unfortunate for McNeeley that so much pressure is on him to return and salvage our season. We'll see what Coach Hurley and crew cooks up. Hope is not a strategy and we can trust what we are seeing on the court. Good podcast fellas.
This team has had the opportunity for some of its sophomore class in shine with McNeely out and it didn’t work out. It still can but they need to be more aggressive and confident in their own abilities, not time to give up on them.
I’d like to see some run with Isaiah Abraham in this lineup. He’s got more potential and athleticism and shooting than Ross or Stewart. Hurley needs to find a better fit with him in this lineup. Give him a 5 minute run in each half and see where this goes.
In today's availability, Danny said Liam has been participating. Could play tomorrow. Less than 50/50. Nowell is out with injury. Hass banged up but will play.
The crowd spirit isn’t where it needs to be because XL Center wants us to dish out hundreds of dollars for nosebleeds to see a mid college basketball game, not because we don’t love UConn. Corporate greed.
The real reason we play games in Hartford is because the State Senate has asked the team to play at least 6 games in town to support the businesses around the arena. The State has been funding the nonprofit athletic department for years and in order to keep receiving funding for upgrades to UConn s athletic facilities they must work with the State in order to keep their relationship. The state has been very supportive and generous to all of their programs and even though many don’t like the facility it’s a non negotiable requirement.
They shot a bunch of bricks when they needed points. Last year, they had many consistent scorers and they need a few more from the current team members.
I just think karaban will probably have to come back , he’s not a first round pick anymore with the way he’s been getting picked on defensively and his lack of ability to create his own shot
They’re done. Season over. Honestly, if I were Liam McNeely, I would sit out the rest of the year and go pro. There’s no point being a player of his skill and wasting it on a lost cause when a boatload of NBA cash awaits. The situation reminds me of Kyrie Irving at Duke. Us UConn fans need to realize this is a lost season and they might bounce back next year. I see a lot of these soft-mores going portal. I also think Karaban needs to come back because he will be in the G-League next year.
Agreed they’re gonna be way over double digit losses by the time the tournament starts they’re not getting in Dan Hurley did a horrible job in the transfer portal as good as it was last year. It was a huge failure this year. They’ll be back next year.
That’s all we’re looking for is some consistency from this group. There game is like winning ugly. Too many players and shying away from attacking the basket and looking for their own shot. Setting hard screens should be a priority for this team going forward. It’s okay that they don’t have the dominant player, just working on freeing someone up should be a main priority. Also has everyone noticed that the fast break has almost vanished from their success. Speeding up the tempo needs to be more important for this particular group.
Stop it. They won a title as a 7 seed. They have an elite offense. Reed has been awesome and gonna be a beast next year, likely pre season 1st team all BE. MaHaney is coming around and getting more comfortable, looking like more and more like the all WAC player we thought we were getting. Hurley isn't going to screw over a kid he recruited for a portal guy. He's all about building a culture of accountability and trust and he sees how talented these guys are. As long as they get in, anything can happen when things click for this team
@stevestrong593 hi Steve- not the same team though. UConn lost too much ! They shoulda tried to talk Steph Castle & Cling Kong into coming back this year. Paid more NIL 💰. Oh well
@KonstantinosTsirikos-pp6mi U pry right , I was just talking Regular Season games left in the season. I still think they can go pretty deep in March Madness. Refs pry won't be as bad , either.
@@stevestrong5932014 is the more apt comparison. That 2022-23 team absolutely steamrolled everyone out of conference that year. I remember texting all my UConn fan buddies after the Phil Knight tournament that UConn might be the best team in the country.

From Aquaman to " Captain Save The Day " ! ( hopefully Save the Season, too ! ) 😂👊
If we just win the big east tournament we’re good . And we can do it if Liam is healthy

29:50 I think tarris is a big IF lately also, he’s struggled badly against 2 of the best centers in the big east in kalkbrenner and Fremantle
Better get us now that’s all
I just think karaban will probably have to come back , he’s not a first round pick anymore with the way he’s been getting picked on defensively and his lack of ability to create his own shot
And he’s also not a great perimeter defender he will get abused in the NBA
if they stay healthy and get guys going i wont want to play them in march

Shooting 3’s off the transition is something this team was great with but has vanished.

Reality needs to show up. This team is not what we have seen in the last few years. That’s fine. But 3-Peat…not a chance
If UConn goes 8-3 would be awesome ! 7-4 still gets UConn in , I think ? 🤔
they lost 8 games in 2023 and we saw how that truned out
@stevestrong593 hi Steve- not the same team though. UConn lost too much ! They shoulda tried to talk Steph Castle & Cling Kong into coming back this year. Paid more NIL 💰. Oh well
They’re gonna have at least 12 losses heading into the tournament. It’s not happening this year. They’ll be a powerhouse again next year.🎉
