Hi there. How much work is involved in replacing the temperature actuator on the driver's side? On my Town car, while turning on either the AC or the outside air vent....I'm getting cold air out of the passenger side vents, and only warm air from the driver side vents. I've seen some videos on here where the entire dashboard gets taken off to replace the actuator....that seems like overkill to me.
It sounds like you are in luck, there are a few actuators on the town car but only one as far as I remember that seperates the right and left side and that is also the same one that I covered in my video "Remove Glovebox Only". Watch it, it's not that hard and the part is relatively cheap on ebay. Thanks for watching Double Trouble Garage!!
@@DoubleTroubleGarage Do you happen to have a video on what to remove on the driver's side to get to the temperature actuator location? That's the side of the car that I'm having an issue with; whenever I'm putting the A/c on in this car....I'm getting the proper cold air on the passenger side vents, and getting hot air out of the driver's side vents.

@@DoubleTroubleGarage Hi James. The link that you sent me was actually the same video where you're replacing the actuator on the passenger side. Do you happen to have a video of what to take apart on the driver's side, in order to get the the driver side a/c temperature actuator? Also, is there a way we can possibly talk briefly by phone or facetime? Since we both have Town Cars, and you're super knowledgable, I'd like to get your opinion on a couple of Town Car topics.
@@seanj.4634 What did you end up needing to do? I just tried to turn heat on this morning in my 07 and the passenger side was warm, driver's side was cold.
Mine is getting warm air form the passenger side do you think I have to replace the actuator on this side only ? The driver side it’s ok blowing cold air .
That is what happens when that blend door actuator goes out it gets stuck in one position, it's actually the same thing mine was doing. The only other thing it could be is the blend door itself so when you get the actuator out use a screwdriver or something to work the door back and forth you will hear it flop open and shut, if you don't hear it or can't turn it then you have bigger issues but that's not normally the issue with these cars.
How did you get the actuator turn in the right direction. I know you stated that you had it flipped around going clockwise and wasn’t sitting in the right orientation.
I have had numerous town cars although non were as new as 08. But if the passenger side temp stays the same temp no matter the setting chances are its the actuator or the blend door it operates. Of course nobody could say for sure but that's a good starting point. Hope that helps.
You have 2 actuators, the Drivers side and the passengers side. The side that does not change from hot to cold when you change the temperature is not working. I can't diagnose from just your description. Mine was the passenger side that stayed cold and would not change. Hope that helps.
I did not save the part number although you want to make sure it is for your year and all for a exact match. I can tell you that I bought it from ebay though. Thanks for watching!
How do I know if this is my problem? A/C worked fine yesterday, and today blows hot both sides. My car has done this before, but once I start driving I hear the flap open and then the A/C will blow cold again. That didn't happen today so not sure what's going on
It is very hard to diagnose what the problems could be from the description but I will tell you that having both Actuators go Is bad at the same time It's not a very likely thing to happen
It is very hard to diagnose from the description but I will tell you that dude that both actuators Right and left going bad at the same time is not likely
@@DoubleTroubleGarage I had my A/C tested today after getting no codes(88-188), and it was out of freon. The day before it starting blowing pure hot air I was in a line of cars for about 2 hours, and I'm in Texas where we are in the midst of a unheard of heat wave. Like 105-115 since beginning of June. Anyway tech thinks my car A/C sensed the pressure and released the freon. A/C is blowing cold again😊2004 Lincoln Towncar.
There are like 4 blend doors on the Town Car, you will have to research further but I believe the blend door actuator that you will need to replace is directly behind the AC controller and radio.
Thank you so much! I’m pretty sure it’s exactly what I need to do.
As always, I'm glad when my videos help out someone.
Keep watching and thanks for the comment 👍
Thank you man this is a good video
Is this a way I can open it by hand and leave it until I can change it ?
Thanks 😊

Where did u order ur actuator from autozone or? Great video by the way my car started running cold 2 days ago i got a 03 Lincoln
I ordered it through Amazon I believe $15.99.
Thanks for the comment man, much appreciated 👍, I am trying to post a picture of the part so as soon as I can figure it out I will post.

I turned on the key with it plugged in and moved the temp setting, I believe I had to set it warmer to get it in the direction I needed.
So will this method work on an ‘08 model year? Driver side is blowing out cold air, passenger side is lukewarm air is the problem I’m having.

There are more than 2 actuators but they don't come into play here for this issue.
Do you have the part number for the blend door actuator?

(Link below) I haven't tried it myself yet, but so far, it's the only one I've seen where the whole dash didnt have to be removed.

What were the symptoms? My TC just blows air out the bottom/feet vent. Not sure if this will help.
