Interesting and fun tour of the area. The Hill Street intersection is indeed complicated, I might get into a crash there I think 🤣I like the historic photos of the bridge etc. Nice! 👍👍

@@chilleats7024 Hill street is diabolical 😀 even with all the traffic now on the motorway bypass. You can imagine what it was like in the holiday season with this being the main access point to a number of our big regional parks 😀!! I’ve had a couple of really good lunches at the Warkworth Hotel, it is amazing inside 😀

Hi , glad you liked the video, Warkworth has a long history (for NZ) and the main street retains its village feel.😀

Love the old pictures of this town. Went to H. Stubbs family butcher a few times and their beef sausage is the best. 😂😂haha

@@IamaDutch-Kiwi Wow thanks a lot , it’s getting harder for me to find local subjects . I’ve always liked Warkworth , I used to stop and have morning tea at the Riverside Cafe (now closed) when I spent ten years looking after Northland for the LTSA. Back then of course there was no motorway beyond Tristram Ave (Glenfeildish) so it was more of a slog through Orewa etc to get up there . 😀

@@Chris-NZ I love how you highlight the small places. They are big in history. Matamata was also awesome. In fact I love your style videos. Before the Greenheith Bridge unused to have to travel ages to get to Henderson. This whole area has changed so much. Birkdale -Birkenhead. I used to buy meat at the Mad Butcher in Albany. That was considered ‘up country’. Those motorways - expanded suburbs and industry blocks. Just amazing. North Auckland has burst out of its seams. Just read about the proposal for the new bridge. Gosh I recall the harbour bridge before the famous ‘Nippon- Clipon’ 🤣🤣! Anyway - I hope you manage to pinpoint some more wee pearls. The Pea Pie Pud hotel hasn’t survived either. Such a shame. Having said that not all change is bad. Greetings from La Bresse in France where Autumn is creeping in. 💕🇳🇱🙋‍♀️🥝

Hey Chris. How yo'all doing? I've never been into Warkworth and virtually heard nothing much about it. Bypassed it when towing our yacht up to Bay of Islands in my teens. very good descriptive video as always. Else and I caught horrendous two-week virus. Hollands have been somewhat worse off. Take care. best regards

@@maxgrey435 Hi Max , When I was working in Northland Warkworth was always a good halfway point for morning tea. Of course back then the motorway didn’t even get to Albany so it took a lot longer to get there than it does now. There are a lot of settlements in Auckland that are the head of rivers and estuaries as they were convenient inland locations to ship timber out from , thinking of Wellsford, Riverhead, Helensville and Albany although I’m sure there are plenty of others 😀. I’ve heard that as we were so isolated and careful during covid that we’ve become a little more vulnerable to winter ills. Get well soon, and stay inside it seems to have been very frosty down your way of late . 😀

I recognise a few of these places from the Brokenwood mysteries, and I'm sure 800 words also used a few spots for filming. I come from England and love to watch NZ programmes for the great scenery.

@@pillred5974 I found and watched the first episode in series 8 and noted that the Museum in Brokenwood is filmed at Highwic House in NewMarket ( I made a video about it in November of 2022), it is one of three national historic homes in Auckland . The Police Station exterior is the old Post Office in Helensville. Coincidentally I’ll be publishing a video driving through there next Sunday. I can see why Broken Wood is so popular , I think I’ll watch a few more episodes and see what I can find. 😀
