I’m a wrestler and Judoka. I will say Uchi Mata all day as a counter to the single leg, as well as Sumi Gaeshi. You can use the Harai Goshi to counter the bodylock and because us wrestlers tend to bull rush a lot, I would also suggest you utilize valley drops as counter attacks against wrestlers as well. That’s what my old Judo coach used to do to me. Hope I helped.
@@mmongiello722 idk. I can hold my own and do guillotines,Ezekiel, punch chokes and ankle locks all day. Standing with a wrestlers is different. I can't do anything to drop them at least the high level wrestlers. Against other BJJ dudes it's it's. Wrestlers stand up games are just too good.

Did you intentionally call the reaping leg a block? Typically, pointing the toe forward, prior to a long swinging reap of the leg, is shown. Do you advise against that style?
Probably a super white belt question but when you enter into harai do you want to have your hips below your opponents? I heard you say to provide upward force with your posted leg. My brain said enter low and elevate with the post to load opponent. Is this train of thought wrong or just too complicated for a simple task? Please and thank you for any response.
OMG... In some cases you are entering Harai Goshi too low (your leg). If uke sit in seiza could break you ankle! One of the goals in martial arts is protect your integrity. Be careful, regards.
One of my favorite channels
My son loves the Harai Goshi. Thanks for making a great video to send him!

Harai goshi is my favorite hip throw
Love the ouchi ,harai combo. People have been catching on to me ouchi. Wait till the get a load of me now.
Thank you master
Could you do a video on how to deal with Wrestlers? Seems like in BJJ and now starting Judo. Wrestlers give me the most trouble using my throws
Wrestlers advantage in judo mostly comes from athletic discipline. Gotta train HARDER!

Teach me
There is no reaping leg in harai goshi. There's a support leg and a sweeping leg.
@@TheJoeMan so you say it’s a sweep, not a block?
@@mmongiello722 100% Harai means sweep.
@@TheJoeMan so you think he is explaining it incorrectly?
Is Harai Goshi safer to do than Tai o toshi?
Yes.

A great lesson, congratulations, if I was in America I would have done lessons from her.

Transitioning from one block to next is easy.

It's a good question, every throw in Judo needs at least a little bend in the support leg for either lift or drive/power.
😉
Harai goshi
The first technique looks more like Ashi Guruma to me.
sometimes i think shintaro makes videos to get an excuse to beat up his friends
nice work though
Looks more ashi guruma
