  • Well the Case 930 after getting the duals on its time to replace the voltage regulator because its bad. Who ever monkied with the wires on the starter switch they managed to burn the points in the regulator from sticking, I figure it was back feeding the system threw the regulator so it needs changed. The new one is for positive or negative or negative ground so it has to be Polarized witch is pretty easy to do, Take a wire hold it to the battery terminal on the regulator and touch the generator terminal and spark it and its Polarized and good to go. Now Big Bertha is really ready to go ! I hope you enjoyed watching and maybe learned something from it. Bandit

      Chuck this is some of the stuff I learned years ago when I was young, I cant explain why it has to be done only it needs to be done in order for a voltage regulator to work right. Victory! Gotta love it when it works out! These days, you never know if the "new" part will work or not, then you spend time thinking it was your own fault, testing, redoing stuff, then figure out your "new" part is junk from the box! But glad to hear it's ready for action! Hope it dries up, but unfortunately our forecast has rain every 3-4 days (and I just cut hay lol). Thanks for the video!

      The bad thing is not knowing if the new part is any good or not when you get it ! Wasn't long ago I went threw 3 coils before I got a good one and this voltage regulator has no warrenty on it because its electrical , As long as it remains in the original packaging it has a warrenty but the min you open it its gone ! But its on and it works so she is ready to go and if it dries up she will be in the field ! There are a lot of guys ready to make hay but when it rain every other day there is no chance of that happening anytime soon. It rained Wednesday night, Thursday was clear Friday but Friday night it started raining again and its been raining ever sense and for the next 5 days ! I have no idea when I might get back into the field at this point , But maybe July ! Bandit

This past Wednesday I had 18 acres ready to plant and didn't plant it because of the forecast, 6 out of the next 7 days had rain in the forecast . It was down in the 40's 2 nights and rained too and last night we got 2 1/2" of rain with lost more on the way ! Everyday this week coming its going to rain so I'm glad I didn't plant anything cause it would have been for nothing and I would have had to replant it if it dried back up. Lots of guys around here were going 24 hours a day trying to get crops in the ground but I don't think it was a good idea, I could be wrong but I didn't like the odds so I didn't plant. Lots of ground around here hasn't been touched yet and may not be planted at all and being the 16th of June and 7 more days of rain coming it looks like July before it dries up and most guys around here wont plant that late, Maybe 100 acres of double crop beans cause most of the time 15 to 25 bu an acre is all they will make and its not worth doing. I shouldn't call this a "lost art" but, this is something that's not being passed on to future generations. Mainly due to everything now days has and alternator installed instead of the good old reliable generators. We used grease on all the terminals, that spray stuff doesn't really work as well in preventing any corrosion. Did you by chance fix your power steering leak on "Big Bertha"? Last video I watched you stated it was leaking, you just didn't know where. If I may suggest, you might want to look into checking in some wider front tires. Helps with "flotation" and would make her look a bit more "bad ass". Great video and very good information for those that don't know about generators/regulators. Keep the video's coming. Cheers :)

A real mechanic is hard to come by now, Most of them are just part changers now and cant diagnose anything, They just do as there told to. Big Bertha power steering pump is leaking some place but I haven't figured out ware yet but it works just leaks a little so its on the list of things to do. Right now I'm trying to figure out the hydraulics and why one side has pressure but the outer side doesn't ! So if we're real lucky we might get back in the field about the end of the month ! I'll bet there is going to be a lot of ground that's not going to be planted around here this year and a bunch or replanting being done on corn and beans planted earlier this week. I hope not but I'll bet they will. Bandit

      Bandit farmer, yea, it's saturated again up here. drove around looking things over, lots of water. Fields that were planted don't look good. There will be many acres PP insurance clams I'm a thinking, corn and even beans. You do a fine job on these videos and I sure enjoy them. Just talked to my friend in Bethel, Ohio. He said about 3 inch dumped from guage, not sure the time span. Your not far from Bethel are you? You be safe and good luck, it'll all work out. Happy Father's Day to you and dad. I feel like I know you and other guys I watch. So be safe.

      @@fredrickkohlman9587 I think there is going to be a lot of PP claims the insurance company will have to deal with this year for sure. I don't like to make claims but that's why I got the crop insurance to start with, Its better than getting nothing I guess but its sure not the same as growing a crop. Bethel is about 20 min south of me so its not to far, I'm in the northeastern corner of Clermont county and Bethel is south central part of the county. I think Batavia is about 1/2 way from my house to Bethel. But the farm is just north of me in the southeast corner of Warren county just west of Blanchester Ohio. The Ohio river valley has a lot to do with the weather around here , It all depends on how the wind blows up the valley and hits the bend in the river at Cincinnati Ohio. Right now the heaviest rains are just south of us but were still getting some good rains. I hope you had a Happy Fathers day and enjoyed the day today. Bandit

    are those axles holding up with duals ?

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  2 года назад

      Yup ! With a tractor as heavy as this Case is and with a short wheel base 16.9x34" dules are in order to go with the 18.4x34 drive tires. If you put equal sized tires on as duals you'll never get it to turn on the ends of the field no matter how good the brakes are. The duals are there just for floatation in the field and even with the shorter duals you still have to ride the brakes to turn it on the ends to get her to turn dew to the short wheel base. Bandit

    Stupid question why not converted to an alternator? Little bit more modern little bit easier to service.

      Well right now everything is working right so why change it over ? I don't know what I'll do with the Case yet, I need a 85 to 100 hp tractor with 3 pt and that's the one thing the Case doesn't have on it I need. Bandit

      Well its how dad taught me and I looked it up after I didi this and that's what it said too, Battery to generator and spark it. I sure hope its a good one, The last time I changed one it took 3 to get a good one. The quality is not as good as it used to be on these parts and I love the fact they don't warrenty them now ! You buy it, Its yours ! Good or bad , Aint like it used to be that's for sure . Bandit

    Great video Bandit! One question. I put a new regulator on my wife's Farmall cub. The old one was original and toast. That much I know for sure. I am running it 12v (originally 6v) still positive ground. Still 6v generator. From my research and from talking with an alternator shop they said it will still charge (the 12v battery) just at a slower rate. I would think it would at least still supply enough juice to keep it running with the battery disconnected..... But it doesn't. My Question Is... If I did not polarize the regulator when I first put it on can I still do this to attempt to get it to charge? I'm less worried about it charging the 12v battery. It crank starts really easy. Just don't like it drawing the battery down until the ignition quits. Thanks in advance buddy!

      First question is it a 12 volt regulator and is it for a positive ground ? Some are one way or the other and some can be for both ways. You could try to spark it and see what happens but I don't know honestly what will happen . I was always taught to have the battery unhooked when you put the new regulator on and hook the battery back up with the key off and then spark it to polarize it, I don't know if it will work now its been run some. But you can try it and see what happens but it may be set now I just don't know. Bandit

      @@banditfarmer1900 it's a 12v regulator the can be either positive or negative ground. I will try to spark it and see if I can make it charge. Don't really want to spend the money to have the generator gone through. It's just are little home chore tractor. ALTHOUGH, it did rake about 30 acres of hay and cut about 15 last year!!! We worked the poor little girl to death lol.

      There was about 4 days everyone was trying to get crops planted, The BTO's were planting 24 hours a day trying to get as much planted as posiable before this week of rain moved in. A lot of ground that was wet got planted and I wish them luck cause it never worked for me ! I got some ground worked up but didn't plant it because of the forecast a week of rain every single day and 5 inches or more on the way I figured its not the time to plant and I'm glad I didn't. I think there is going to be a lot ground that's not going to get planted this year, 25% of the ground is planted around here (maybe ?) but its sure been a wet spring just like last year was. Were over 9 inches above average on rain this year already so were at about 31 inches of rain so far and that's a lot ! Last year we got 63 inches so were half way there now. I hope it straitens out and I can get back in the field and get everything planted, I still got faith but I'm starting to worry ! Bandit

I had some ground worked up I could have planted but I didn't because of the forecast, No sense putting seed in the ground to have it rot from being in the water too long ! I hope I made the right choice but from what I see we have rain everyday for the next 7 days maybe even more and beans just put in the ground will rot being that wet . Time will tell for sure but I don't have to worry for now cause the seed is still in the bag ! Bandit
