The M3 deserves every fucking word of it. I remember grinding through and it felt like an eternity.
Actually, last year. I had a good game in the lee (my second game with the tank), and I already got ace tanker.

@@paulivanyanto5495 Oh, you can absolutely make it work in a half-decent matchup, did it myself a number of times back in the day, and there are a couple of tanks i definitely hated more. But none of them had the meme quality of the Lee. ;)
My biggest Nemesis! My first tier 4. This tank made me stop playing the game after a month back in 2012. It took me 2 years to get back LOL. It is so unfriendly to a new player.

What do you mean? It's a great tank. 100+ alpha with an insanely good DPM, you're supposed to play it as a tank destroyer and you'll do great.

Considering that it has been like 3 years since the Halloween event where we got tanks with two turrets I am really surprised that tanks like the M3 Lee still don't have an operational second turret
I hope it's introduced in the near future but anyways very good job on the daily uploads quackybaby keep up the good work
The second turret is only a machine gun, so its understandable why it doesn't work. They have it in WT too and the top turret just shoots a gun.

@@michsko0464 That 37mm gun can pen plenty of tanks, just not all of them. It would be best for 2 things: 1) shooting in crest situations, which are normally disastrous for the Lee and Grant, 2) shooting at enemies after your tracks have been blown off. When I suggested the activation of the turret a few years ago I was slapped down by players and WG - but they used opposite arguments to oppose it! WG argued that the gun would make the Lee OP, a ridiculous argument - as if they've never introduced an OP tank, considering that they introduced the O-I Exp at tier 5! Meanwhile, the players argued that the 37mm gun was useless and wouldn't make any difference, so why bother! Personally, I think it would make the tank a bit more forgiving to play without making it OP. You simply use the Siege Mode button to switch between guns! The delay would guarantee that you don't get a DPM advantage.
@@Zudexa the turret gun is a 37mm high velocity gun. You know, the thing that was actually responsible for killing the enemies. The 75 in the hull is for infantry support

Yeah I had a dbag in a 40/44 Arty in my team just shooting me in my UDES 03 after he map clicked me to push and I did the F6 negative. I did a 5k game and he did nothing.
I never had any issues playing the Lee. I learned to play it like a TD early on and to find hull down areas, even though the turret shows, to hide the hull. Once you unlock the top gun you can shred vehicles and grind it pretty fast.
My experience too, once I realized you can hide the left side and take cover at left street corners this tank was quite fun to play with the quick fire rate. There are tanks that are so much more awful.
I get the feeling that 'blind fire' was actually the M7 Priest. Friendly fire's gone and low-level howitzers don't stun, right?

Drakainequus for me it was the first ace on console tanks (very first ace ever was Rampanzer in Blitz and T1E6 on PC)
My first top gun and high caliber is on a Grant.
I had fun with this thing once i realised, screw being a td, be a flanking medium.... I got quite a few top guns with it... absolute beast if you get tier 4. I could fire like 30 rounds per minute
Yep. And learn to wiggle around corners so you only expose the gun (using friendly heavies for mobile cover works too). She's a challenge to play, but so worth the effort.
only if youre a really skilled, experienced player, and you are facing lower or equal tiered opponents. Otherwise this kind of advice is half the reason everyone in WOT thinks the lee is so bad. In reality it NEEDS to be a mid ranged TD for a vast majority of the player base.

Those blind fire HE rounds were the priest shooting you because he was annoyed at you “camping”
I really like the Lee and Grant, it's quirky, and the M3 gun is respectable at T4 and the HE nukes T3s and some T4s. The quickfire on the Grant's really iffy though - the benefits are too circumstantial. The biggest frustration is that it's a "first" tank for the playerbase, which means low spec no-skill/perk crews.

I had the same relationship with the duck, but when I unlocked and got amazed with ELC, I felt bad and rebuy AMX 40, loaded full HEAT and make it the most happy duck
I really love the M3 Lee. I just play it as a Tank Destroyer to be honest though. Probably helps I have 60%+ winrate on it too.

The 6 pdr isn't much of an option: it has the same accuracy, but poorer HE. Hey, the HE nerf will hurt this tank! I used to like pumping HE shells into thinly armored targets: the Grant carries 65 shells, better than the M3 Lee's 50, so it's definitely better, simply because you can carry more HE without dropping the number of AP shells carried.
With this tank I grinded out the first m4a1 Sherman, it was actually kinda fast because I had 2 parts of the blueprint for the Sherman so it only cost me 9000 XP and I didn't have any problems with the m3 Lee, it's actually kinda fun to play.
All i can say is watching these videos is the only thing that keeps me playing WoT. I am completely trash at the game and it gets to me at times but then i watch a quicky video and im back in the game ready for more frustration.

That's why m3 Lee in war Thunder is such a beast. Because it can use all of its Guns. Even the machine gun turret which is awesome to take down spg's.
Oh the memories of grinding through this tank when I first started, I would face a KV1 and it was game over, such a light tier 4.
Years ago when I had to grind through this tank, I didn't like it either. Then I figured out to just peak around the corner with only the right side of the tank which shows only the gun and aim to left with the said gun. After that I started to like that tank because then it became almost indestructible.
This tank is so OP that it got removed from WoT Blitz(mobile version)

M3 Lee is the best tank, you know it too, QB...
Even if that shell went a teensy bit higher, that lower armor piece on the front end of the Lee is actually reasonably strong. He could have aimed literally anywhere else, but he's probably used to firing at lower plates.
I enjoy the Wolverine with the 105mm and all HE load out. Play that one sometime.
Me recently using it: SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AHHHHH I NEVER WANNA USE THIS TANK AGAIN I GOT THE SHERMAN, PLEASE! JUST DO NOT USE THIS TANK PLEASE YOU WILL GO CRAZY. Also I play WarThunder yes yes I know you can use it's top turrets just not in World of Tanks.

@Travis Boutell i remember eating a ap shell from that french tier 5 premium arty. That one is certainly relevant if you have it on the enemy side. The reload on that thing is insane.

@Travis Boutell True, but to be honest I would buy xp and credits just to skip the suffering I went through although the SHERMAN IS SO DANG GOOD! I regret the Lee still... But the top gun can also be good for light's trying to flank ya since you can turn it faster than the tank!
That's really the tank that made me hold the American heavy tank tree branch back for a long time. I despised it
I unlocked the sherman, the t1 heavy and because I was an absolute madman... the M7 priest... back when the Lee led to the priest and the Priest was a tier 4. In total I grinded out I think almost 60k xp in it?
Took me a long time of playing this game to realize just how killer that gun is though
I'm trying to max out my lee with 50% HE to make things interesting. In north Africa a lot of lee's played improvised arty by parking on steep slopes. It worked. But the biggest success was the lee unit that took out 10 German tanks while not even being there. They had built sand bagged heaps to hide the lees week spots. Then the unit was moved the Germans attacked their old position at night and then found them selves out of position and flanked by AT guns. The Germans thought it was the lees fighting back and never got a shot off at the AT guns.

The current view range of the m3 lee is amongst the best of the tier. When you first burned through your m3 lee it was facing TDs pre view range nerf. It now outview ranges all of them except for the pak-40.
You know what would be cool? If aside from double barrels we had multi turret or multi guns mechanics, like that Halloween event with the multi turreted tanks that were aimed with mouse but you fired main gun normally and secondary gun with left Ctrl I believe or Alt, things like the Lee and Grant will surely change a bit, also half the Japanese tanks, also the Maus and the E 100, and I'm sure there are more

You play the Lee like a turretless tank destroyer.If you charge out into the middle of the enemy, or move through the open, you'll just get flanked and destroyed because you can't get your gun around fast enough to get a shot off. You have to engage at longer ranges so you can keep the enemies in front of you. Extending your view range and camo as much as possible is a big help.
This was my first tier 4 tank, I remember the grind taking forever.
Hated the grind in the M3 Lee, but surprisingly loved playing the Grant in the British tree.
Very good aim time and good dpm. Just don't too close to the enemy and avoid ridge line.
I played the M3 Lee to Prestige back in the day to get the M4, T1 Heavy, & the arty (forget which one that was in 2011). This was my first Tier 4 tank overall.

Back then, the M3 Lee is a painful pre-requisite if you want to advance into the Tier V M4A1 Sherman. Now, it's just a reason to receive send you post-game hate mail from enemies...
It actually didnt give me too much of a problem when I went through it but it definitely isn't a nice tank and I was very happy when I sold it. Knowing that you shouldn't expect so much from it made it better for me to play lol.
That slow-mo-under-the-tank shell was epic!
Its important to remember that the M3 Lee can also ram extremely well against most tier IVs, as it has good power to weight and enough frontal armor to make the ram not too troubling for you.
the Grant and the Lee should have the 37mm firing in tandem with the 75. its mostly how it was used. its sort of a mobile pill box

IF I am not mistaken and remember correctly, War Thunder is also featuring this tank BUT, there you are able to use the turret as well
I remember during my lee grind getting quite good with it by the end. One of the first tanks I was getting 4-5 k games frequently in. Since I've tried going back with little success... guess you gotta know your limits pretty well with it.
What would you put on to the French teir 5 medium G1 R. I right now have a camouflage net and binoculars and gun rammer. What would you use QuickyBaby.
i just got the tank i was kinda happy because i did play warthunder and it was fun kinda but in this game i was expected to use the 37mm looking for the control to use the gun and couldnt find it ... this grind for the t1 is gonna be a pain
I am starting some new lines, and i got to play the tier 4 italian tank. 175dmg, 70mm of pen, This HE round is just completely crazy at tier 4.
If the Lee could use the other guns to damage other tanks like
Lower tiers or just do damage to modules like tracking enemy tanks would be a great buff for this unique unarmored breadbox

I enjoey the M3 in WoT, I enjoyed it in WarThunder and plot twist the british army had great success with the M3 in the desert campaign while it was still relevant as a tank engaging mostly P3 and P4 only at that time.
Once i played arty, as i waited for my team to spot the enemy, they spot m3 lee alone, was like 5vs1 i think and they freaking all falled back like babies lol

I went through the M3Lee pretty quickly. Had some good games in it. Actually enjoyed it. That gun is pretty awesome at Tier 4.
I still have my original M3 Lee. Play it often and love it. Of course it's not really a tank. It's actually a TD that just thinks it's a tank. With the rapid reload and the decent gun (for Tier 4) it can club the stew out of some seals.
This mutant has approx 2.8K DPM when fully equipped with cola, vents, gun rammer, BIA etc.
I wish you could use both turrets at the same time like they did in last year's Halloween event

There are tactical reasons too mounting the gun on the far side of the vehicle. Imagine side scraping with a tier 10 heavy and a gun mounted on the far side of the vehicle
It is weird, but in this tank I got my first ever Ace tanker. I trully hated it and I will never play it again, but that was my race to M6 (as a tank I wanted to get that time as my first T6 heavy). Bizzare enough I got it for like 3 kills and like 700 base XP (back in 2015)

Fear the Lee! That was my rallying cry to keep me motivated when grinding for the Sherman.
I always played this tank as a aggressive td if the mm is right, or as a normal td if I am lower tier.
Quickybaby, you should do some kind of stat fixing challenge where you have to go through all the tanks in your history where for whatever reason you had bad stats in and try to fix it by playing them now
M3 Lee is actually one of my favorite tanks. It's fun when you own with it.

The worst thing about the m3 Lee is you HAVE to play it at tier 4 to unlock two tanks. The M4 Sherman and the T1 heavy, and those tanks lead to the American medium and heavy line that have some good tanks.
It is a slog in a user unfriendly tank.

I think WG really missed an opportunity, so far, with double barreled tanks. The main issue I see with the lee is that the top turret is useless and normally has to get exposed to use the main, functioning, gun. I remember getting a kill on a Lee one game in the Rudy for this very reason. They should have did what Gaijin did with the Lee and have both guns as an option to use with the double barrel thing.
You summed up exactly why I stopped playing a game I still would love to enjoy. Playing it stock, with an unskilled crew and no consumables. That's the experience of EVERY new(ish) player. It's bad enough learning how to play whilst facing better players without those better, more experienced players, driving upgraded tanks with fully skilled crews!
Lol i remember shooting t1 heavy in the sides with lee and it just keep saying we didnt penetrate their armor 😄
