Geezuz...forgot what she used to look like and how she portrayed herself... that whole era was an inspiration to me growing up, I remember back then, her saying she wanted to inspire people to be a better version of themselves. The world needs this Madonna again, who wasn't polarising, worldly and inclusive of all, a message for all. Perfection. ❤
What exactly is she polarising now? also if she's polarising now what was she doing riding the floor at VMAs in a wedding dress, bringing out a book called S.E.X, marching for gay rights when nobody else was??? She always been "polarising"....
You could swim in those eyes, she never looked more beautiful to me than at this time. She is very reminiscent of Botticelli's Venus with those gorgeous, beachy ringlets. Everything about this era was magic. Her collaboration with William Orbit was a career highlight for her creatively. I also enjoyed her work with Mirwais and Stuart Price. But to be honest I haven't enjoyed anything she has released since Confessions On A Dance Floor. That was her last great record in my opinion. I wish she'd go back to being more authentic rather than trying so hard to be relevant. But even though I haven't enjoyed her recent material, I will always admire her, she's a remarkable woman and deserves more credit. She's a trailblazer on so many levels.
Yes...indeed ...she reminds us of the Venus from Sandro Botticelli ... The power of goid bye...she could be la Giaconda She has so many diffrent faces ... There is not one Madonna but uncountable versions of her ...always suprising the audience again and aigain and again ... But I loved the period after shr gave birth of her daughter ...this was also a rebirth a healing for her ...you see her happiness shines through her music ...through her as a person. William Orbit was the best what could have happened to our queen of pop.
I do agree on all you've mentioned here... 3 years later. She's not Madonna anymore today, just an ugly distortion of herself, unrecognizable with all those unnecessary plastic surgeries instead of aging normally and gracefully. True, Ray of Light was her MASTERPIECE, beside LIKE A PRAYER album who is another masterpiece. True also about after Confessions on a dance floor, she lost herself in mediocrity. It's not the person I loved so much in the Ray of Light era. The real Madonna has never came back since her post Confessions on a dance floor era. Hard Candy was indigestible, a piece of garbage. It's sad.
@@DistantCousin I have to say I think it's good that she did Evita because had she not done it, Ray Of Light would almost certainly not have turned out so good. Her vocal training for Evita and the classical influences were very evident in Ray Of Light. She sounded the best she ever had on that album despite being almost 40 when she recorded it.
That era Madonna was going through self reflection, spiritual, earth mother period..having Lourdes as well made her have a new perspective on life .. Madonna was self absorbed and looking after her brood taught her a lot 😊
A friend whose not a Madonna fan. Could careless. But recently said her best era was Ray of Light. She was fantastic then. Yep. I love that she’s genuinely kind and compassionate here. She’s not trying to be shocking or anything. She’s answering all the questions in detail graciously. Probably why her tour didn’t start til 2001 a year after the Music album. Her child was a old enough.
This look really suits her. Makes her look younger also. Its a bit bo- ho, hippy, earth mother . But I like it. Beats that stupid eye patch look she was rocking not so long ago ( just what the hell?) . And the ray of light album was very good. Think it was the last time her music actually appealed to me to be honest.
That "stupid" eye patch was probably used because of a stroke or a surgery. Health reasons having to do with eyes/brain need a patch like that during the recovery period. She has suffered privately health issues like all of us have in our past or will in our future. This comment is for everyone who could not make the connection regarding the eye patch. She is as fragile regarding health as every human being.
You know. I think we all ..or maybe just Me , long for this era and for who Madonna was at this time, because I miss myself and my life from this time. I was 28...

It’s fascinating to have a glimpse into Madonna’s artistic and creative thinking as it relates to her life experience and career journey. Her honesty, insightfulness, wit and graciousness shine in this interview (as in most of her interviews). Ray of Light (the live concert version of the song with a visual backdrop of exploding stars, bursts of lights and the rising sun at dawn) as an artistic piece conveys a lot of messages and themes-for me it’s like the Big Bang-a new beginning, a rebirth, a new life of possibilities, of fresh hopes and new dreams-a very uplifting and optimistic view into the future. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.
The ray of light album is one of my favorite albums that Madonna has done and one of the coolest music videos I have ever seen absolute Topps favorite😇😇😊❤
Only short bits had been used for the ROL promo, they used a segment on NBC, and bits of it in the making-of documentary broadcast on Dutch TV, but never the full thing I believe
So many memories. This was such a masterpiece of an album. And Ray of Light would be a total hit. Little did I know at the time that I would eventually move to Sweden and see many of the places that Jonas Åkerlund filmed for the video.

its nice to see madonna give an interview where she iseems entirely natural- i find she usually puts up this shield around herself and she can come across as a bit of a pain in the neck- but she comes across well here

I miss vintage Madonna. I know she is almost 63 but she seems totally different now.
She is brilliant - never gets enough credit for her beautiful mind.
I love this makeup on her. She's usually very "polished" with makeup, but this is more experimental.
this was for the Evening part of the video, when she was wearing the white shirt and dancing in a club.
it's rare to see a madonna interview where she seems so unguarded and candid. xo
She’s so kind, happy and comfortable on this interview.
And definitely she’s reached the peak of beauty in the Ray of light Era! Love it! ❤
The Madonna I loved, worshipped and adored!
she looks beautiful here.
Shame that Madonna did not go touring between 1994 to 1999 .She was in absolute prime that time im sure would be great shows
Madonna ALMOST toured in 1999, but finally didn't do it to film a garbage movie. 🥲
I always blamed Lola
And Evita. There was a Bedtime Stories related tour planned for 95 but the opportunity for Evita finally materialised after 6 years. @marsyas.

I’ve never seen a tanned Madonna. She looks good, even if it’s a fake tan.
I think it’s more heavy make up for the shoot of the video.
this apparently could pass as a tan... this is for the Night scene... so its night make up.
she was very tanned in the beach scenes of the sex book. with the very long blond hair. she looked freaking amazing.

Love this relatively low key interview with the Queen - her message is so pertinent in 2021
I never heard her sound so sincere without all the superficial posturing that she tends to portray publicly.
I was thinking the same thing throughout this interview, and other interviews from this era, that I've been watching lately.
