Done exactly what i done upgraded to this from my syncro 15, i have lots of osprey bags but can honestly say for bike commuting this has got to be the best bag on the market, love mine had it for over a year now through the british winter and still looks like new.
i really like your idea that cut off the pouch on the shoulder strap. i bought this bag and just find it too small for anything and non removeable. if I cut the pouch, i'll sew/attach a strong elastic headband on the shoulder strap as a trekking poles holder LOL LOL. Osprey has the trekking poles holder on many of their models just not this one, which is a drawback. I'm small size so hopefully they could make this bag a bit slimmer for women :) Anyway, great demo. Thanks
@wendy Wong - thanks for positive feedback. I think as the pack is more cycling oriented, they dropped the hiking pole attachments. Anyway, I hope your solution works out *thumbs up
Great review and outstanding English pronunciation. Anyhow... I'm looking for a well build backpack to transform it into a 2in1 cycling/camera backpack by putting inside a Tenba BYOB 10 Camera Insert. I found an interesting article, written by a guy, who did this with Osprey Stratos 24, but since it's an older model (and I actually couldn't find it in the local stores), perhaps Osprey Escapist 25 can serve the same purpose. What do you think about the idea? Also, does anyone know if it could pass as a cabin luggage with low budget airlines?
Would this be a good balance for biking AND hiking? Trying to stop accumulating gear.... just want a smaller daypack style I can use for my biking (mainly to get to trail heads) and forday hikes.
Great review. I'm currently using a hiking back pack (35L) and need something for bike packing. I've been looking to get one of these. it sounds like a great pack. Thank you
Would you recommend the escapist 18 over the escapist 25 for a daypack? The escapist 25 also has an adjustable harness and my understanding is the 18 doesn't.
The scotch thing is not stable Under heavy load . You have to fully tension the stebilizing straps , otherwise the shoulders straps worth nothing. An internal bladder compartment is better since it is cooler and safer . Did a trip to the desert a small snake has managed to find his way at night to the inside of the external bladder compartment.
Hi, Jan. Depends how much you like to take with you, I guess. I would say better to have too much space and it not be used than the opposite. Always good to be able to stash and extra layer.
you never mentioned anything about the plastic disc which you said you'd mention a bit further into the video the disc at the top of the bag ?? Good vid tho good effort
I’m doing a 7-day trek in Nepal and looking for a pack that can fit all my stuff but small enough to use as cabin bag. I have a 2 season down sleeping bag, 1 fleece, 1 down jacket, 1 waterproof jacket, 1 waterproof trousers, and thermal trousers + 2 long sleeve tops. Do you think I can fit them all in there including a small emergency kit, powerbank, hydration bladder, small hygiene kit and a thin microfibre towel..? 😬
Hi! Hmm, maybe but I wouldn't like to say so definitively. I could however recommend the Osprey Farpoint 40 or the Tasmanian Tiger Mission Pack ll. These are carry on size, expandable and could cary all you need. Check'em out. Enjoy your trip *thumbs up
Thank you! I have the Fairview 40, which is the female v. of Farpoint, but it’s not hydration compatible and there’s no pockets on the hip belt which I think are really useful for treks.
Great review! I was wondering, is there a zippered pocket where you can put away important stuff like your passport? And small items, like USB sticks etc.
Yes, the pocket at the top. I think I mentioned you could put 'sunglasses' in there, but would be sutiable for these sort of things, too. I actually use it for my passport sometimes too, when travelling.
thx for your quick reply! I got a few more questions: - is it possible to put a 11" laptop/tablet (MS Surface) in the bladder compartment? - what about the pocket with the raincover? can you put small accessories there as well? - will the bag stay upright? - are you happy with the colour? did you consider red or blue?
Hey! I am not too sure if it would fit in the bladder pocket, in all honesty. It seems a bit narrow. I keep my laptop in the main compartment with a sleve. It works fine. I am happy with the colour. It doesn't show the 'everyday dirt' so much and mud splatters wash off easily enough. With a bit of support and something in it, it will remain upright but when empty not. If you remove the rain cover, which is possible, you could fit a few small items in - lighter, phone, powerbar etc. Hope this helps.
Hi. Yes, it wasn't an issue. I simply used sharp scissors to cut as close to the strap as possible and then a lighter to round off/seal the edges. Looks fine and strap is still fully functional.
Nice review! I've seen some reviews/comments stating that the back panel is not very rigid and bulges uncomfortably when the pack is heavily loaded. Also, it is suggested that the hip belt is not sturdy/supportive enough to meaningfully take weight off your shoulders. Would you say that is true? I'm mainly asking this because I'm looking to get a backpack I can also use for occasional hiking besides biking. Thanks in advance!
I tend to disagree with this. I have carried heavy loads, 6 x 0.5l beers + food etc. and it snugs in really comfortably. Hips straps work well. Remember you can get the bag in S/M or M/L sizes, so it could be that others who reviewed it have the incorrect size. Sure, it doesn't stand upright when on the ground bit it is a cycling pack, not a daypack.
UnseenSpirit hi. not yet 😮. Can't decide between 30l or 25l. plus at the mo a bit broke. Keep going onto the shop and trying it out. well get one soon 👍
Can you not return it? Just stick with it. At least if you use it around the city as well you'll have extra space for food shopping, work/uni things or extra layers etc.

pro trick : you can watch movies on flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Chance Parker Yup, have been using flixzone for since december myself :)
@Chance Parker Definitely, I have been watching on flixzone for months myself :)

P.S If I get time this week I'll try review the Mission Pack.

I ordered mine! Thanks a lot for your replies!
Could you remove the excess of the chest pouch completely without damaging the straps?
Hi. Yes, it wasn't an issue. I simply used sharp scissors to cut as close to the strap as possible and then a lighter to round off/seal the edges. Looks fine and strap is still fully functional.
Did you also remove the stitched in part?
How long is the hip belt pocket measured from end to end? Thanks.
Yea, the hip belt pockets measure 6" x 4.5". It will fit an iPhone X in there, but it won't fit in the shoulder pocket.
Nice review!

Sounds good, thank you very much!
Harry Rose Are u using S/M size? Pls let me know your Torso size and heights for my size checking.(my Torso is 50cm and heights 180cm)
이준 hope this isn't too late.... I'm 2m tall so using the M/L size
Hi. Great review. May I ask where you purchased this colourway from? thank you
Sorry for late reply. From my local outdoor shop; Sports Check, München
Black is the most common colour
Is there any drinks holders on the side?
There are two elasticated side pockets that could be used to hold drinks bottles
Andy Green thanks
Do have a question. my current pack gets very floppy when half empty. Does this remain ridged when half empty? Thanks
Yes it does. The padding in the back provides a fair bit of support.
Harry Rose thank you very much 👍. looking to use this for weekends away on the bike. currently using a 35l. So mmm. Great review
Mugtree did you get it then?
UnseenSpirit hi. not yet 😮. Can't decide between 30l or 25l. plus at the mo a bit broke. Keep going onto the shop and trying it out. well get one soon 👍
Mugtree well if you have a 35l bag and it's working perfectly fine, it's good to keep it :) money is tough to save these days so I know what you mean!
Can we fit a laptop in this bag?
Does it has a separate compartment for that?
No, it diesn't have a compartment for this although a 15" laptop should fit in, no problem.
i took a wrong size of 32L. i feel really bad. i think 25L is perfect for me:/
Can you not return it? Just stick with it. At least if you use it around the city as well you'll have extra space for food shopping, work/uni things or extra layers etc.
what do you mean by wrong size? I'm planning to get those 32L. Can you describe a fair bit? thanks in advance!
