I was weak when Rhaenys immediately clocked Daemon’s when Rhaenyra asked who ordered the killing of a child😭
The difference in mothering between Rhaenyra and Alicent was glaringly obvious in how they comfort their children. . .
Don’t forget that Helaena is also Alicent’s child. And her trying to explain to her child why she was sleeping with someone else while her grandchild was being killed. Not both your son and daughter got their child killed and all you can focus on in Ser Criston. All the greens are on my nerves except Helaena.
Facts, her daughter is clearly disturbed by what happened but she wanted to make sure she didn’t say anything about Cole. Alicent is literally the worst, nothing can make me like her
Aegon’s face cracked me up when he looked at Sir Criston after he called Rhaenyra outta her name. It was giving “that’s my sister, I can talk about her, but you can’t.”
Crispin is truly unstable.. even Aegon gave him the side eye when he called Rhanerya the B**** Queen.. Like that was really OUT OF POCKET for a Kings guard to say.. Its so obvious he is still in love with her.. deep down its Rhanerya.. He is unstable though because just how he lashed out at Rhaneryas wedding.. He lashed out again but with the Twin and basically ordered him to his death.. Random: you can tell that Otto really loved and missed Viserys.. Also, what Otto did was disgusting.. but that ish was GENIUS.. he literally got the realm to turn on Rhanerya without shedding blood.. its a reason he was hand to 3 kings
I wanna fight Criston & Alicent. Rhaenys is my favorite sis see everything & ain't afraid of Daemon. Otto is SO SICK of Aegon when he told Aegon "is that what you think?" When Aegon said Viscerys wanted him to be king I was OOP TELL HIM!
Auntie Rhenys has Daemon's number, that's her first cousin. She didn't even have to investigate who killed the baby.

She wanted a child to be mutilated, purposefully. I’m not saying there shouldn’t have been some sort of consequences for Luke (as much as I love him) but asking for that kind of retribution is just as sick and murdering a baby.
I think the ending of Twin fight was meant to be ambiguous. Hence the Arryn/Erryn’s final words: “I’m sorry, your grace.” when responding to Rheanyra’s call for Erryn (Black). Before the fight, Arryn (Green) was actually sympathetic to Rheanyra before he attacked her meaning that there was never genuine malice in his heart towards her. It was said that the Cargyll twins shared the same soul in two different bodies, so by having one kill the other was too grievous of a wound to bare. I personally don’t think that Erryn won the fight but the message is clear that there was no victor, there couldn’t be.
Loooved this recap! 🤣 I totally agree, I thought little J's body was gonna roll off the casket when the funeral cart got stuck in the mud. 🫣 That Sir Crispy death scene you envisioned would be EPIC. 😅

This is a 3 season story. This is the perfect speed. There is so much going on I want to see the "actual" version of events. I would hate for them to do a season 8 and rush every single fight into one episode a piece. GIMME ALL THE DETAILS!
In retrospect I feel this is a 4/5 season story because there are too many battles and way too many death that need time to be felt
There are too many book events I cant see in this season alone or even in three
I think the story will get stretched out to properly deal with it by either a 4th season or even a fifth one
We are in season 2 and the war hasnt really begun yet

No the episodes arent going slow. This is the game of thrones universe. The politics are everything. You gonna find another show if you want random action all the time. I think Daemon's actions are still tearing down Team Green. Not too much on Daemon naw. He is an awesome character and he stands on business. He clearly loves his family. If he really didnt want Rhaenyra on the throne he could have gotten rid of her a long time ago.
None of the other kids talk alot. Not just Bayla.

Agreed. Daemon Stands on Business, and frankly he should be Rhynaera's hand. I know he is unorthodox, but I trust him to do what needs to be done no matter what. He is a very passionate man who loves his family. He has had Rhyneara's back consistently for years. don't forget he beheaded the man that was calling. out her kids in court.

I even enjoyed the little dogs acting scene over 95% of all other scenes in this episode! Great recap, which is also way more entertaining than episodes 1 & 2 combined.

I think you got the slow burn that these shows have been. It's always been mostly dialogue and politics with some action and big battles thrown in.
I’m waiting to see how and if daemon reacts when he finds out Baela is flying around kings landing. I think she’s going to show off!!

As a book reader I think it’s moving too fast 😂 seeing Aegon & the greens grieve & Otto use it & Aegon ruin it! Alicent & Cole’s guilt was great to watch. Rhaenyra reading Daemon was sooo needed! The Daeron name drop finally! I thought they forgot about Alicent’s youngest son. The twins duel was heartbreaking & Aemond showing remorse for Luke’s death was also needed. People get too caught up in battles but I live for the character development & small council meetings that’s what made GOT great not the battles but the lead up.
What's wild Haelena is his SISTER let's not ever forget that. Family tree has no brunches 😂😂😂 so weird how it kinda slips from the forefront 😂..

I think it was foreshadowing. The flower pollen is like the ashes she will see fall from the war of the dragons. She knows it’s coming.

I agree with all of that! The 2nd episode picked up more, but I’m tired of seeing Allison and sir crispy chicken nugget! Plus was it me or where some random scenes in this episode. I thought Otto was going to have a heart attack, but sirrrr this is your doing. He set this up and now has no control over what’s going on now! My how the plan backfired. I just want Allison and Rhaenyra to fight it out!

All the men in this episode were foul. Ser Pointfingers aka Cris should have known he was going to find himself a scapegoat. Daemon ummm yeah…He was up to his old tricks…that twin bro that was sent to Dragonstone to assassinate Rhaeneyas that ended in tragedy. I thought the White Worm aka ex Daemon’s ho/gf was going to warn Rhea Rhea she saw the twin coming.
Crispy had some damn nerve for that one.

I genuinely struggle to understand how some people watched these opening episodes and think that the action at the end is 'the good part' and the rest is "filler". Y'all need loud noises and flashing lights to stay focused that bad?

amazing recap as usual, more entertaining than the episode, i love house of the dragon, but for a 8 episode season THEY ARE WASTING TIME, the balance between dialogue and spectacle is not balancing
This is how GOT has always been. What season of GOT or HOTD had action wire to wire. It's always been about conversations.

I didn't appreciate that SLOW set up season opener. Episode 2 definitely shoulda been our season 2 premier. I agree that we have zero time for fillers. They've been on break a couple years and that's more than enough time to have all episodes be filled with fireworks.

Yeah I thought these episodes were pretty good. The political conversations happening in dark rooms is what I loved about GoT.
There is more story to come for the PoC characters, they won’t always be in the background.
Daemon would had do the job himself, but i don't think he would able for him to get in the kingdom. i think whiteworm going to be an alias/spy for Rhaenyra. i felt bad for the twin, one got sent to a suicide mission by sir bitter side hoe, and the other had no choice to do his job ( protected the queen), but after killed his beloved brother he couldn't live with himself. I am so happy the grandfather lost his position and got kick out the kingdom by the monster he created, but he definitely destroy Aegon by told him his father didn't choose him and didn't love him. now sir bitter is going to used the king to get revenge on Rhaenyra for rejected him.
I think the pacing is off for me too. I think I might just wait until the season is over and watch the rest of the episodes at once. I tend to get wrapped up in the final moments only for it to be over.

I don't understand your complaints cause the first seasons of GOT were as "slow"as these two first episodes, pure politics and intrigue. Epic battles and cheap shock value that eventually became the trademark from GOT in its final seasons does not actually represent the story envisioned by George R. R. Martin.
Her complaint is valid. There’s a lot of story to tell in just eight episodes, which means they’re probably going to skip some important things just to get to the “juicy” parts

I think it’s going slightly slow, and I mean slightly. However, I think next episode by episode 3 will be a bit more action packed, as I’m pretty sure something big is going down episode 4, that’s all I’ll say
I think Daemon sent the rat catchers because he couldn’t risk getting caught. Also I think episode 2 was very slow! I’m ready to see a fight between the dragons lol.

Compared to GOT, it’s clear they have different “vibes” as shows, but individually as episodes, or overall as shows, I would say the quality compares to Season 2 of GOT. Not as good as GOT’s peak (seasons 3 & 4) or to season 1, but definitely has the potential and time to reach that level.
It’s without a doubt better than GOT’s Season 5, 6, 7, & 8 though so I have hope and would be very sad if you stopped reviewing :(

I think there was a need to hide Daeron because his actual paternity could be in question.
Im seeing a lot of confusion from people on why Daemon would send “random” people to kill Aemond and it’s quite simple allow me to explain. These 2 specific names were given by the white worm because they are within her network. The gold cloak served under Daemon when Daemon was commander of the gold cloaks and like stated hates the hightowers, the rat catcher was chosen because he is heavy debt and has a heavy understanding of maegors secret tunnels that lead into Maegors holdfast which is where the Usupers family resides. The reason why Daemon himself didn’t attend the mission because it was basically a suicide mission as seen this episode neither assassin survived, his royal ilk is more important than killing the petulant brat Aemond.

The season is definitely moving too slow for me and there's too many Alicent scenes. I'm no book nerd, I'm genuinely just here for the enjoyment after watching GOT, but is Alicents presence this big in the books???
Yes, in fact she’s even more influential, though she is more callous/cruel. Similarly, Criston is also even more powerful in the books, he’s more ruthless. What the show has done is basically make them just as destructive but more realistic with the whole concept of sanctity and hypocrisy. So it makes them more realistic villains, but admittedly less entertaining for TV. That said, their roles will be quickly diminishing soon and the actual story has only just started. It definitely is meant to have a different vibe to GOT, so I agree it’s hard to get used to so much dialogue.
In fairness, what made GOT so shallow after season 4 all the way to the last season was its LACK of emotional or intellectually dialogue so I do appreciate that they understand most of their mistakes with the latter half of GOT and seem to be trying to impress us with the writing/acting.

I think I'm just tired of seeing Alicent and Criston Cole on my screen so maybe season 2 just won't be for me, but I'll still be here to watch it unfold lol. I loved GOT S1-4 and HOD S1. Although I hate Otto, I have to admit he's the reason I could get through episode 2 of this new season.
