A cute little bat, perhaps not full grown but not a baby. I do have a few suggestions if you intend to rescue bats, one is to wear at least latex gloves, bats may not have rabies but can have other pathogens. also bats are not immune to some human germs, so as much for the bats protection as yours. When they seem dehydrated which is common, an electrolyte such as pedialite is recommended, They will suckle from a paper towel or rag, I have found the small artist paint brush works better. Don't try a syringe or eyedropper unless you have been trained. you can easily hold them head down to do this. If survival seems likely, any chance of finding their roost, you cam put the bat back, if it still cant fend for itself,other bats will actually help care for it and bring it food.
Orphaned babies are far more critical and will even need to be fed every two hours round the clock. Often kitten formula is used for that. Likewise, when the bat can fend for itself, it needs to be released or placed with a nursing bat in the roost.

Thank you. I live in Japan, and I found a bat of the same species. It is not the same as the micro bats that are in Australian bat rescue videos, so I didn't know what to give it. I will try pedialite and kitten formula if I ever find another one that needs rescuing. He looked just like a little cow, like this one, with the cute nose and I felt terrible that I just didn't know what to do to help him. Thanks for this information!!

Just watching this now, November 2016. I too have rescued several bats, Indiana Brown Bats. Used to board my horse in a barn with a bat colony in the hayloft. Every spring some babies would slide down the hay chutes and hang on for dear life until they either crawled back up or Mom rescued them Occassionally they required human intervention to move them out of harm's way. It was wonderful and the best part was that we had no bugs in the barn!

haze 4293 I crashed on a scooter at the end of last year. Broke both my femurs, my pelvis, my knee and lost two fingers.

You should talk to anyone you can find in your area who does wildlife rescue. If they don't deal with bats, they can point you to who does. It's important that trained experts care for injured microbats, they can suffer from injuries that are nearly impossible to see unless you already know what you are looking for.
Also, even if you choose to become a carer yourself, it is vitally important that whoever is caring for the bat has had their rabies shots. This protects them (or you) from rabies, but it also protects the bat: if you are bitten or otherwise injured enough to draw blood, standard procedure is to kill the bat so its brain can be examined for possible rabies. It is in their best interest to be cared for by an experienced expert with the right vaccines.
It is awesome that you see how wonderful these bats are, and that you care about them. Please call in a wildlife rehab specialist now, so that this small friend can have the best chance at a full recovery.

HELP!!!!! I JUST saved a baby bat and he is too tiny to eat bugs but I don't produce bat milk like hus mom so what do I feed him?

Hi! i did as well, mine is definitely a baby. I'm feeding him electrolyte water, like the stuff from a sachet (I brought it from South Africa so I dont know where you get it here), and I've been told you can gradually give it goats milk after a few feeds of water. I feed it with apaintbrush because the smallest pippete i could find is still too big - be careful cause their noses are just above their mouths and they can quite easily breathe in water if you feed them with something too big. Mine just licks water off the paintbrush, but to be honest it doesn't drink that much (i try every 2 to 3 hours).
I'm by no means the authority on this, I just read a lot since I found mine on Friday. You should contact Bat World Sanctuary, they emailed me back within a day. Send them a picture because sometimes they are not actually babies, just adults that are dehydrated/injured/something.
Where do you live? From all my reading I understand that you really need to try to get it back to its roost as they need mothers milk up to 2 months old. I put my baby out at dusk where i found it, just hanging on a twig, and an adult bat came but didn't take the baby away. Bat sanctuary says to hang it high up cause bats cant easily take off from the ground.

+Grace Coates This same thing happened to me! Now my situation is there is a momma bat with 2 baby bats, the momma bat is protecting one baby bat on the ground, almost if it can't fly. So it has one baby wrapped up but it looks like its leaving the other to die!
Now I'm 16 and my parents put a box in front of them all so it can cover the sun because it's hot here in Wisconsin. The last time I checked on them the mamma bat was hanging upside down from the box with one of its babies, the other one is still laying there all alone! I watch all these RUclips videos of people saving baby bats but I just don't know what to do with a situation like this! My parents said "Just leave them there, hopefully the baby that's left out doesn't die". I'm an animal lover and I just feel bad. Any advice you could give for my family? I feel bad because they're just outside under a box that's diagonal against our garbage cans all day.
+Grace Coates I used to have 2 pet rats, both were female and apparently one was pregnant once we got her from the pet store, next thing we know she had babies! We had to camp over the weekend and I was worried for all those guys. Parents said they'd be fine but when we got back we noticed they ate them! 😔
It just brings me back to that situation but they're wild animals so...

He is so cute! But sadly, there have been confirmed cases of rabies in Taiwan - there was an outbreak in 2013, mostly affecting ferret-badgers and shrews, but it was transmitted to a dog as well. Transmission of rabies also does not requite a bite. The infected creature's saliva can come in contact with your blood if you have an already existing cut, or if you are scratched by a claw that has been contaminated with the animal's saliva.
I'm sure everything was fine in this case, and bats are an adorable and important part of our ecosystem. But for any readers out there, please use caution if you find one. If the bat must be moved (it's probably just sleeping, and will fly on in the evening if left to its own devises), wear long sleeves and leather gloves, or better yet, call a professional. And if you do get a scratch, even a superficial one, please tell your doctor you need rabies shots! If you've heard about how horrible and painful the rabies shots are, you might be relieved to hear that those were the old ones - the new ones might give you a sore arm, but that's about it.

I know you had a really bad accident while riding, also know you had some troubles for walking for a while, but really didn't know you lost two of your figures( first I wanted to ask you what kind of bat cuts two of your fingers? then I got the point).

Adriona Zuppa Its a full grown bat and only vampire bats drink blood, from animals. They also can go into the sunlight its just not safe for them because it makes it hard for them to see. This makes them easy prey for predators. The sunlight wont harm them physically but can make them extremely scared.

Since making this video I've saved 4-6 more. It's mainly just dehydration. They come out of hibernation try to catch bugs....fail.....and then fall from the sky. A bit of water and some rest and they take off to try again. But they do need saving as I usually find them crawling on the road too weak to fly.
