    watching this in tears. I have to have ACL surgery, too. I've never needed surgery before! Right now I feel so restricted and exhausted from limping everywhere. I'm watching videos to help me see what I can look forward to. I know this is an older video but thank you for sharing your journey.

    This gives me hope. I tore both knees' acl ligaments in krav maga class today 8weeks back. Tomorrow is 7 weeks post opp. It has been a tough journey. Developed blood clots in my right calve and still working on left knee full extension. Seeing the difference over time really does help when you're so early in this journey. I felt like the last stupid person alive because you hardly ever hear of someone tearing both at the same time and not realizing it. Walking out of class, driving home only to have my left knee give out an hour after it happened. Sometimes wish it was sore then I wouldn't have gotten up to continue, tearing the other side soon after. I tried to check if I was hurt but could do deep squats etc. and truly felt I was fine because I didn't have any pain. I never experienced any pain up til the surgery. You can imagine the mental warfare inside yourself after you leave a nearly retired specialist baffled.
    Still celebrating the small victories though. Today I had my first ems suit training session since, and loved it.

    Thank you sharing Mandy this is so encouranging. I tore my ACL 4 weeks ago and are scheduled for surgery in 16 days. I just started a new life where I was more healty eating and just started training. There is not much you can do, after ACL tear, and therefore you are in your mind alot thinking about how it could have been. And its hard, but thank you for sharing your story now I am just looking forward for mine to begin.

    Your video is so encouraging and inspiring! I tore three ligaments after I hit a tree from snowboarding on January 29th. Just had MCL reconstruction and PCL repair done in late February, and I am about to have ACL reconstruction in a few days. I thought my snowboarding dream is about to end, but as you said, we didn't go through all this just to quit! Thank you!

    Your video is so encouraging! I also got ACL injury 1 month ago and felt very desperate when the doctor told me no more skiing again. I want to get myself back to ski mountain. Finally I found a good hospital in Shanghai and got ACL surgery there. Today is my 10th day. Hopefully I could be the same and better person again! :)

    Mandyyyy, you are such a gem of a person. Thank you so much for this video. It filled me with hope, motivation and positivity. I had my acl reconstruction and meniscus repair 3 weeks back. Still a long way to go but I'm exercising regularly and seeing your video was the best decision. Hope you are doing well. Take care. Keep on doing the great work.

    Hi Mandy, thanks for sharing your journey of recovery.
    I just popped my right ACL 3 weeks ago skiing :(
    Like you, I am a software engineer and I was living a very active life.
    Although the specialist at this stage recommended me no need to go under surgery, but I feel like doing it.... just like you, I need the confidence that I can do anything I want to at any given time.
    Your shared journey will be my inspiration after my surgery is done.
    Best wishes to you, and stay active and healthy.

    Oh, and rly want to know how you get rid of the crutches so soon? Are you only acl injured without meniscus damages? (I've been given one sew on my outter meniscus, the doc told me to get rid of the crutches in 6 weeks, I think thats' way too conservative).

    • @mandyzhu
      @mandyzhu  4 года назад +1

      I have a little bit meniscus tear (no sewing, just trimmed off) and MCL repair. I definitely got rid the crutches on the aggressive side, you should continue to use crutches until you feel comfortable without. Good luck on your recovery!
