Say, for instance, I came up with a 16 step beat I liked but then decided to extend the drum track for 32 steps. Is there a quick/easy way to duplicate the existing rhythm onto the new/blank second page of the extended pattern?
No sorry, I wish there was. You can copy steps if you need to using the copy function but when copying parts of a pattern I just found it best to duplicate my programming manually.
Hey Chris! Question...so I found a somewhat odd behavior in the Bass synth sequencer. With autostep enabled, after having armed the record button...when selecting the starting step...the sequencer doesn't allow me to choose step 1 as a starting point. If I press 1 it automatically jumps to/back to step 2. With no notes having been pressed/sequenced. If I try to force it by holding step 1 THEN inputting a note...it records it then automatically skips to step 3 (note tie disabled) then proceeds to function as normal. BUT skipping note 2 on play back... Oddly enough if you use the encoder to manually step back to note one (still on an empty sequence) it does so no problem and proceeds to function as normal (doesn't skip to step 3 after 1st note input). Is this normal behavior for autostep? (I hope that wasn't confusing)
No it can only output audio via line out or the headphone socket. There's no usb or SD card slot on the Livens so no way to export audio files like that

@@ChrisLodyMusic I agree different is good. Little black boxes are like Tribbles in the studio. Maybe a less trapper-keeper-ish overlay included in the box would go a long way towards attracting nay-sayers like myself.

@@electro-soma Fair enough, I guess. For me, the form factor and physical (esthetic) design of an instrument is as important as the sounds it makes. That's part of why I don't use VSTs or DAWs and prefer to use vintage hardware. I just love wood and steel enclosures with interfaces that combine nice graphic design and well thought-out ergonomics. Some of the small plastic boxes, like the Volcas, or the stuff Arturia puts out, also has elegant interfaces and good "knob feel". The Sonicware boxes feel a lot like the Fizmo or a really cheesy Casio circa 1990. The sound engine may be well thought-out but the interface doesn't appeal to me. It looks cheap.

There is a single FX unit for both parts but the send amount can be different per part, or turned on\off for insert type effects. You can automate the send level per part but not the FX amount knob or type. Hope that helps
Hi. Curious. Does this machine output information from the sequencer to midi?
Hi, yes it does. All the Livens will send out midi from their sequencers. Some have more than one track like this model so they have a per track midi channel settings
@@ChrisLodyMusic Ok, do you know if sends out drums on the standard midi notes that is used in VSTs like NI Battery? Could be a nice drums sequencer editor.
@@Average-AL I'm not sure about that to be honest. I don't have Battery so I can't test it
@@ChrisLodyMusic Well I think it is just the standard midi map. So if you record some notes from the Liven they should end up like this. musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/General%20MIDI%20Standard%20Percussion%20Set%20Key%20Map.pdf
Troubleshooting: my bass & beats keeps shutting off. Have had it for a few months now. Was working fine. But now it shuts off by itself.
There is a couple of things to check, both in the System menu. Firstly make sure your battery type matches the Batt setting here or it might turn off too early. Also there is an auto power off that can be disabled. Other than that please contact customer support here: sonicware.jp/pages/support
This is looking like it will really be set up for live performance and I am only 12 ish minutes into the tutorial.
Yes that's right. It's good for programming drums live too as you can do it silently in the X0X style Select mode
The functionality and sound is interesting, but good god, these SONICWARE grooveboxes are ugly! They look like my grade 9 pencil case circa 1986.
Nice tutorial. I always appreciate this type of mentoring.
Thank you. I think the design is quite divisive, I've seen comments like yours about it and others saying they would buy it just for the way it looks. I think they might have done that on purpose to make it as eye catching as possible. I quite like it to be honest. Makes a difference from everything being black, white and grey.
@@ChrisLodyMusic I agree different is good. Little black boxes are like Tribbles in the studio. Maybe a less trapper-keeper-ish overlay included in the box would go a long way towards attracting nay-sayers like myself.
@@lo-firobotboy7112 I like the look of their kit, because it's different, but I do agree that some people would be dismissive of the B&B based on its looks. I wouldn't want them to change their design ethos though as word will get around that Sonicware make excellently designed hardware.
But, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
@@lo-firobotboy7112 I agree. I also place a lot of value on looks and feel. I just happen to the love the looks of the Sonicware gear. I received my XFM last week and I'm delighted with the build. Nothing feels cheap and the knobs have absolutely no wobble and they're very accurate. The keys also have a really nice feel. Have you had your hands on one?
Ugh these demos are beginning to really piss me off
I ain’t found a single useful one yet
Well this isn't intended as a demo. Sonicware commissioned me to make a video user guide so that's what I made. What are you hoping to find exactly?
This things work flow is terrible. Worst $250 I ever spent.
