Following the principles of sound waves and how that energy passes through an elastic solid, liquid, or gas. He demonstrated that by saying that his rear sub would not go past a certain hz as it was due to his acoustics in his Honda, and varies other challenges. This is what I love about car audio! Taking what you know of sound theory and how it interacts with its environment and you can tailor it with software and bend it to your will using a digital equalizer. I'm no acoustician but I do appreciate the art since it's one of my most expensive hobbies I currently have.

I have a few builds under my belt but the current one is a 2012 Malibu w/ a SQ-ish system going in. I will take all the info i can get. People here don't share as much, act like it's big secret in the USA.

  • @maxfmfdm

Yeah there is usually a null somewhere from 50-80hz in the car. When you play from a speaker in the back its pronounced and unacceptable. Subs in the back do not sound good above this null either. You should handle down to that null with front speakers then swap to the sub in the back below it. Hard to do though depending on the output level you want. Just like you said the 6.5s are going to lose alot of volume potential because they need all their excursion headroom devoted to going low. 8s do alot better and if you can manage it a small sub in the front is perhaps the best solution.
Learned all this the hard way but I'm very happy with my setup now so it was worth it.

    • @maxfmfdm
      @maxfmfdm 4 года назад +1

@@juanpestrada5231bdndjkdnI went with 2 8s in place of the 6.5s I had in front. It sacrifices some sq in the mid high but they have at least double the output of any 6.5 midbass in terms of bass. The ones I have are made by sb acoustics and they have very good excursion.
Another possible option is trying to move the sub. I understand if that isn't possible but the core issue really comes from just the shape of the cabin and how it makes sound waves cancel sometimes.
It really is rough. In home audio the sub usually needs to be placed ideally and processed because of the room reflections.

They give up some sq in the mid high and need tweeters that can go very low. They are off axis a bit much for the range I use them in. That is the tradeoff. And they do work really well to fill in the space right above the subbass. They also have exceptionally smooth lower mids that outclass almost everything I have heard making them REALLY stand out on certain songs. They scale gracefully at high volume as well. Which is awesome when a kick hits and the speaker handles it fine without increasing distortion to the other frequencies.
All in all I do miss the perfect high midrange I used to have. But the grass is always greener. And I am confident that I would miss these more.

I was going to ask you to do some videos explain your setup. For a lot of the people that don't understand sound quality and speaker placement and automobiles, it can be kind of overwhelming to try to figure out why someone would put a subwoofer in the glove box. I forget you and most of my friends are in car audio so a lot of things are assumed. Now I have a reference video to link other people to. And it's a great video narrated and explained by someone who can publicly speak and explain things very clearly.
You explained perfectly how and why things are done with a purpose. I know all of us will be looking forward to all of your videos. Subs can be crossed over higher too in order to bring the subs closer to the front stage. Installed / Used an Aliante 15" woofer in AP / IB setup in a vehicle, it had a lot of musical output above 100-200HZ that provided a very snappy midbass and impactful presence to the vehicle front stage. Using a Pair of Morel 6.5 midwoofers and Waveguides only for the front stage, no rear speakers. It was very musical and loud on Drum Tracks the subwoofer wasn't too localized As it acted as an ambience driver too, with EQ it would have improved more, the low end was deep below 40hz - although the box for the Sub was only 3.5" deep which cancelled alot of 50-70HZ output, for an SQL vehicle 2 15" Aliente coupled with woofers in the rear deck for low-end IB would be a good SQL setup. IMO. Very Aggressive loud and very musical ' the epoxy type flat cone also created a surround ambience in the cabin too. Currently Running a pair of W7 IB crossed to 600HZ (With EQ adjusted for peaks and cancellations etc) helps improve the front stage response in cabin.

... Just when I thought it was already a lot of work to install a 3-way+sub on a car not made with it in mind.

It must sound great, but the look is just as important as the sound and, let me tell you with a lot of respect, your car looks horribly messed up. Too many speakers

This car has been a project car, something in the make in the last 4,5years. Check out the other videos and it will make more sense!
By the way, don’t judge by yours eyes, but your ears! You’d be well surprised! 👌

Sadly mine looks worse. I have a total of 4 pairs of speakers installed that I am not using. People who are not into sq think it looks impressive but to me it just looks stupid.

Honestly it doesn't even look half bad at all

Downside is this is incredibly illegal in most countries (modifying impact areas for passengers) and stiffening a dashboard with fibreglass will mean incredibly bad injuries in a head on collision.
I'm sure it sounds good but I hope you don't care about people in the passenger seat if you have a serious collision because you will be responsible both morally and legally for their signicantly increased injuries so you have better bass integration 👍
Plus honestly, despite your good workmanship, this does look pretty stupid having a huge bulge in your glovebox. I mean you could have just used the footwell at least.

Is it the very first “no compromise” sound quality competition system you’ve seen in your life?
