It's not even the numbers that make 'playoff' rondo so good, he's the guy that calmed the Pelicans down and kept them level headed. This Pelicans team from previous years would've panicked at least one of the close games away, probably two. Our offence with jrue initiating gets really bad at times when rondo is on the bench, no matter how good everyone now thinks he is.
achieveacademy Jazz to Houston for sure, especially since Houston hasn’t been offensively there yet. I don’t see the Pelicans as a threat to the Warriors. Portland made them look better than they are. Dame and CJ are such poor defenders that made Rondo and Holiday better offensively than normal. Also, they had no one to defend AD. They don’t match up as nicely with the Warriors.
Knowing either of these two things are not indicative of one's IQ, considering that an IQ test is more of a measure of fluid intelligence and analytical ability than crystallized intelligence.
Oskars Balodis but he's one of the most normal nba players, I live in Louisville and you can catch him at his mommas house and ik his neighbors that say he's always been a really nice guy. His iq don't mean a damn thing cause his basketball iq is great, his career is basketball, not math, he makes millions I wouldn't care about that shit either but I guarantee his iq is average at least, most likely above average
This was lazy. Throwing up some career stats. The stats should be when Rondo gives a shit and when he doesn't. Playoff Rondo appears when he's fully locked in and has had the time to scout out the opposition. That dude is a killer. Blazers couldn't run anything without Rondo calling it out. Even last year that tragic imploding Chicago team was beating #1 seed Celtics with PlayOffRondo controlling the show until he broke his hand. Do your thing man there's like 10 years of Playoff Rondo appearances. A half assed stats video is too lazy for this kind of a living legend topic.
El Duderino true. He choosed his stats because the point of the video is to deny playoffs rondo ... if we go back in 2009 , playoffs rondo showed up with a post season triple double with kg , and then he got his 5 years contract extension for 80 millions... even in 2008 we saw glimpses of playoffs rondo with a dazzling game 6 in the final 21 points 7 rebs 8 asts and 6 asts , even phil said he was the star of that game... the we know his carrer in playoffs its so obvious, the only year he wasnt that good was in dallas..
I agree. If you're going to throw up career stats, there was a time that Rondo was considered a Top 5 point guard. If Playoff Rondo means even getting to 80% of that, then it's definitely a thing.
Egor Makarin he is the reason im a basketball fan. The first nba game I watched was in the 2012 ecf against the heat and rondo looked amaxing to me .(even though I became a fan of the thunder and will be forever, rondo will be atleast top 3 in my favourite pgs all time )
Not flashy in scoring only! He is averaging 5 boards 8 asts and almost 2 steals and even better in the post season and all the crazy games he had and triple doubles, assits records and streaks etc
The man is the coach on the floor, and he always runs the right play that maximises the players abilities in the floor. It’s works better in the playoffs as the game slows dowb
its not in his personal stats, it's the way he disects the other teams offensive/defensive schemes and educates his teammates. look at the celtics last year and blazers this year and how he was directing the team, it's his leadership which doesn't show in the stats.
2 issues with Rondo really. 2nd point is why he’s fine with Vogel and Gentry but not Carlisle . 1. He lost a step and half from his prime from tearing his ACL and age 2. He wants to run the team’s offense when he’s dribbling the ball. He’ll run the coach’s offensive sets but the coach can’t be telling him what plays to run. He thinks he knows better being on the court and can also factor in who’s hot, who needs to get fed the ball so they don’t get mad, etc, who need shots to keep rhythm and who doesn’t. Vogel and Gentry are fine with it
Rondo is type of player everybody wants in their team. Great basketball IQ, great passing, great leadrship, bold, courageous, great defensive player etc. I think stats can't show everything, he has feel for a game and it's very entertaining to see him play. Best of luck for Pelicans in second round!
It happened last year too. As Rondo has aged, he is much less likely to put his body on the line during the regular season. But the aggressive drives to the rim, diving for loose balls, all bets are off come playoff time.
Playoff Rondo is no myth my guy. Playoff experience and his experiences period is not a stat. He knows what it takes to win, the dude won a championship surrounded by (HOF VET(S)). All I should have to say is he had KG and DOC in his ear for years, everybody knows how intense KG is.
Another thing to remember when comparing regular season and playoff stats is that playoffs the pace is completely different than the regular season (much slower and harder). And his averages might be similar but he's averaging it against playoff teams while in the regular season its a mix of good and bad teams.
Jayson Tatum It's adjusted because he played around 25 minutes per game during regular season, while he's averaging 30+ now. Adjusting 25-6 mpg to 36 is way more realistic than with Bennett's 10-ish.
Don’t a lot of guys see major drops in numbers in the playoffs though? Wouldn’t it be “above average” if he at least maintains the same numbers as the regular season?
Even when he doesn't have the ball though, he was pointing out where his teammates should be and where the ball should move. It's like he dictates the game flow even without the ball.
Dennis Lindsey: You should consider trading for Rondo and Mirotic. I know Quin is going to say he loves to stick with Rubio and Crowder. However, I don't think you can add players one-dimensionally. You need players who can provide clutch shooting during crunch time and playoffs. You don't need 5 or 6 good defenders and can't score during crunch time. I think if you want to widen your window of catching the leading pack for championship contenders, you need to adjust your strategy!
The thing is most people don't perform as well in playoffs as they do in the regular season so although it's a small increase in starts it's a wider gap between him and other players
I think what makes playoff rondo playoff rondo is the fact that he doesn't fold in the playoffs at all he has consistently shown he's gonna play better even if its slightly in the playoffs than worse
I want another part of this @BBallBreakdown if the Lakers won the ECF or the second round series but with another title (the answer if playoff rondo exists) 😂😂 Edit: you know the answer ;)
Yes playoff Rondo exists but not in a way that many say. He isn't playing any harder than he is the regular season but it is because he has more time to study the opponent, which you don't mention. Rondo might be smarter than some of the coaches in the league so having time to study an opponent gives him a huge advantage.
You put out some offensive stats but forget the other side of the floor. In regular season, this is where Rondo coasts. He often gamble for steals and let his man blow by him because he know help is coming. But in the playoffs, this is where he is truly locked in. He is very disruptive on passing lanes and can lock you down when he's on.
Stats is not always the factor bro, being a hardcore Celtics fan i was able to notice the difference that he made always on the floor not only in playoffs but also in close games and on the floor not only with assists or scoring but with leadership and defense. He's always a game changer. I wanted him to retire as a Celtic :(
Anybody else noticing how the PGs of the early 2010s are excelling in this year's playoffs? The ones said to be left behind because of their lacking 3point shooting. Rose, Rubio, and Rondo playing topnotch basketball so far.
Stats don’t tell the whole story, if anything, in this case. He steps his intensity up all-around in the playoffs, especially this year. He kept the Pelicans calm and collected this series just like he did with the Celtics in 2012-13. His already high IQ skyrockets and his effort is there on both sides of the ball. Playoff Rondo is a killer, pure and simple.
You didn't take into account this factor: Most players will have their stats dropped in Playoffs. If a player can keep his original level in the playoffs, he is already in an advantage.
Defensive intensity and the pressure to perform in the playoffs is much higher than the regular season. To consider the stats as the same in weight would be illogical. For rondo to at least maintain and even increase production proves that playoffs rondo do exist.
Let's not forget last year when Playoff Rondo helped the #8 Bulls go up 2-0 on the #1 Celtics and then when he breaks his hand the Bulls lose the next 4 straight. It's also about leadership and the little things that don't show up on the statsheet.
playoff rondo was definitely real his first couple years in the playoffs, especially against lebrons cavs. he was averaging a triple double his 2nd year in the playoffs
You can not compare Rondo’s whole career with the playoffs. Everyone knows Rondo as a Celtic before the injury was one of the best guards in the league but his performance and reputation went down leaving Boston. He did not play as well as he use to but in the playoffs, he became the old Rondo we knew before. If one must compare, do it with the seasons he left Boston and went to the playoffs.
Last year the Bulls finished east in 8 seed and 1 seed was Boston Celtics. The Bulls was up by 2 games until Rondo got injured. Then Bulls lost all the other games and Celtics won the serie with 4-2.Rondo is a real deal and people can’t see how good is he.Also he is not really tall he is 185cm (I think that makes him 6’1 in feet)
You included the 2014-15 Playoff Per Game stats for Rondo for some reason knowing that was going to affect it. That was 100% a horrible playoff series that he tried to tank. Other than that, stats show that he definitely does better in the playoffs.
Where’s the stat that calculates his leadership and mental impact on the team tho?!!!?
northernlight1000 they do it's called the leadership stat that I quantified into 67383927 categories.
Amen! pelicans were trash all year everytime Gentry left him on the bench
Also how he read the offense and defense
We need this stat STAT!

Richard Saxon Rondo is one of the best ball dominant PASSER first, second, third, fourth option in the NBA.
Richard Saxon Westbrook could learn some from rondo
Which team is more of a threat, Jazz to Houston or Pelicans to Warriors?
Richard Saxon love your observation
Rondo is magic man.
achieveacademy Jazz to Houston for sure, especially since Houston hasn’t been offensively there yet.
I don’t see the Pelicans as a threat to the Warriors. Portland made them look better than they are. Dame and CJ are such poor defenders that made Rondo and Holiday better offensively than normal. Also, they had no one to defend AD. They don’t match up as nicely with the Warriors.
Rondo has one of the great basketball IQs in recent history
But his real life IQ is one of the lowest in NBA. He doesn't know the capital of USA or even how babies are made.
Oskars Balodis
Bitch, Kyrie believe flat earth and I believe it. Rondo is the same.
Anyone can believe whatever they want
Oskars Balodis Knowing or not knowing things isn't an indicator for intelligence, that would rather be knowledge or wisdom.
"he is simply a slightly better version of himself"...thats exactly what playoff rondo means....
BullsithDetector for real
LOL IK
"Of his already impressive self"
MiLK SOP ... He gets more minutes is of course he would put-up more stats
BullsithDetector his already impressive self

Those playoff stats included the playoff games with the Mavericks which shouldn’t have been included
Totally agree
Andrew Owyang Facts!
Who's here after playoffs LAL-HOU game 3 in the bubble?
I’m here during the finals
@@gohan__ PLAYOFF RONDOOOO

You ever just breathe to flex on niggas wit asthma lmao
Playoff P was bad man if we are still in 2013 2014
Who is play off P????
I don't care about the stats, playoff rondo is proven with an eye test.
Rondo is the reason I watched his teams after Boston, he is the best pg for me.
Egor Makarin he is the reason im a basketball fan. The first nba game I watched was in the 2012 ecf against the heat and rondo looked amaxing to me .(even though I became a fan of the thunder and will be forever, rondo will be atleast top 3 in my favourite pgs all time )
I put him over Westbrook if we are talking about winners.
Playoff Rondo is beyond your silly human math
^
The stats you brought up doesn’t quantify the little things stats can’t count! Stats don’t tell the whole story‼️
combat2thearms
Nah, Westbrick would argue yo ass with his majestic stats.
You will lose 😂
But it does tell.most of the story lol
Bisdak Gaming It tells half. 50% stats, 50% context

His career stats aren’t flashy but I believe he is a hall of famer
multiple all nba teams 4v time all star a champion can end his career close to magic in assists yea you have an argument
Not flashy in scoring only! He is averaging 5 boards 8 asts and almost 2 steals and even better in the post season and all the crazy games he had and triple doubles, assits records and streaks etc
I just call him Rondo. One of the smartest players to ever play the point guard position.
playoff rondo> playoffs p and hoodie melo combined
At this point I’ll take Holiday over melo any day 🤔
I’d take any player over Melo as of now
Melo ass
damn this statement didnt age well, and rondo is about to get his 2nd ring
The man is the coach on the floor, and he always runs the right play that maximises the players abilities in the floor. It’s works better in the playoffs as the game slows dowb
He gets that mamba mentality plus you always hear him talk alot more on both sides of the ball than anyone
its not in his personal stats, it's the way he disects the other teams offensive/defensive schemes and educates his teammates. look at the celtics last year and blazers this year and how he was directing the team, it's his leadership which doesn't show in the stats.
A greatly underrated and under appreciated point guard in the nba; should be top ten
He literally knows the other teams plays
I agree. He is very vocal and set the tempo for the team. He literally tells teammates where to be on the court
those passes are just beautiful
Here after Lakers game 3 win. PLAYOFF RONDO STRIKES AGAIN!!!
2 issues with Rondo really. 2nd point is why he’s fine with Vogel and Gentry but not Carlisle .

Vogel and Gentry are fine with it
Rondo is so fun to watch when he's dropping dimes everywhere
Rondo made it possible for the Lakers today , he had a wise calm demeanor
His best stat in the playoffs is the W
I think the reason for Rondo playing better is that the game slows down in the playoffs and its more of a halfcourt game which is where Rondo shines.
This dude is an NBA champion. Of course he's legit
Playoff Rose is here video
Rondo is type of player everybody wants in their team. Great basketball IQ, great passing, great leadrship, bold, courageous, great defensive player etc. I think stats can't show everything, he has feel for a game and it's very entertaining to see him play. Best of luck for Pelicans in second round!
I love rondo, fierce competitor
As a laker fan right now I can tell you he's REAL💯💯
The ‘09 series against the rook D-Rose and the Bulls is when i first realized the phenomenon of “playoff Rondo”. That series was a classic.
Damn Rondo's passes to AD is crazy. Some Kuroko to Kagami stuff.
It happened last year too. As Rondo has aged, he is much less likely to put his body on the line during the regular season. But the aggressive drives to the rim, diving for loose balls, all bets are off come playoff time.
Hes got more time to study film and a team so yeah.
1:26 I watched the live broadcast of that game. That pass faked me out the max. I was still confused during the slow-mo replay. Great pass.
Playoff rando is one of the greatest assets a team can have in the playoffs
Playoff Rondo is no myth my guy. Playoff experience and his experiences period is not a stat. He knows what it takes to win, the dude won a championship surrounded by (HOF VET(S)). All I should have to say is he had KG and DOC in his ear for years, everybody knows how intense KG is.

I guess Playoff Rondo Does exist. I honestly wasn't aware he was playing for NOP until probably 2nd playoff match :)
Rondo's career regular season BPM: 1.6 Playoff career BPM: 4.9 and that's against better opposition too!
Its 8sep2020 today and Rondo helped Lakers over Houston in game 2 and 3 in the bubble conference semi finals: Rondo is a big 3 with James and Davis!!
Per 36 mins is Way overrated Anthony Bennett's per 36 stats for points is 16
Jayson Tatum It's adjusted because he played around 25 minutes per game during regular season, while he's averaging 30+ now. Adjusting 25-6 mpg to 36 is way more realistic than with Bennett's 10-ish.
Jayson Tatum so What? We know the skills of anthony bennett. How the hell is anthony Bennett gonna make rondo look bad. We know hes out of shape
As a long time Rondo fan, I'm glad he's getting love again after the Mavs stint.
This year has been one of the best playoffs so keep these coming I love the insight!
I hope playoff Rondo exists because the Lakers could use him if they want to make a run this year
IDC I still believe in Playoff Rondo
National television rondo for sure
I'm here bitches, I come here to welcome Playoff Rondo
Rondo has been a favorite since 2008 with Boston. I can happily watch a whole game focusing on him only.

Issa eye test, coach nick
He does exist. He plays on the Pelicans
Even when he doesn't have the ball though, he was pointing out where his teammates should be and where the ball should move. It's like he dictates the game flow even without the ball.
It's similar to when he was playing for the Bulls - except he injured that time
there were like 10 different moments in this video where i was expecting this to transition into a Point Guard College ad. :D
It’s the playoffs. This is where real basketball fans need to be. Right here with coach Nick
'Playoffs Rondo' is why LeGM wanted him here in LA.
This man needs to be a hall of famer

I want another part of this @BBallBreakdown if the Lakers won the ECF or the second round series but with another title (the answer if playoff rondo exists) 😂😂
Edit: you know the answer ;)
Coach, did u forget that in that best playoff year with the Celtics, rondo played with a dislocated shoulder or something like that!
Yes playoff Rondo exists but not in a way that many say. He isn't playing any harder than he is the regular season but it is because he has more time to study the opponent, which you don't mention. Rondo might be smarter than some of the coaches in the league so having time to study an opponent gives him a huge advantage.
Who's here after his Lakers performance?
Rondos a legend
Rondo's overall in regular season: 80
Rondo's overall in playoffs: *90*
Rondo>Westbrook
Lakers is a fool for not using Rondo as much
Great video! Can you do one on melo's struggles?
Playoff rando is essentially an already cerebral player transforming into a full fledged on court general.
Bulls vs Boston series last year is another potential case of playoff rondo.
Rondo wit a J, now that's a scary sight.
I love your channel man!!
Playoff rondo shooting 3s in playoffs now for Lakers
Stats don’t tell the whole story, if anything, in this case. He steps his intensity up all-around in the playoffs, especially this year. He kept the Pelicans calm and collected this series just like he did with the Celtics in 2012-13. His already high IQ skyrockets and his effort is there on both sides of the ball. Playoff Rondo is a killer, pure and simple.
You didn't take into account this factor: Most players will have their stats dropped in Playoffs. If a player can keep his original level in the playoffs, he is already in an advantage.
Sometimes, stats can't explain how a player plays. The only to found out is to watch
Why you hating on rondo coach? he plays basketball better than you can coach.
Playoff Rondo is a thing because his contribution to the game is appreciated since then the NBA teams actually try to use some tactics
When you got the career playoff stats you included his first trip to the playoffs before "playoff rondo". He was carried by the big 3 that year.
Hold on... Hol up, lemme find out lakers got another playoff beast
playoff rondo was definitely real his first couple years in the playoffs, especially against lebrons cavs. he was averaging a triple double his 2nd year in the playoffs
some people don't realize it's not about numbers it's about how and when u do what u do
U missed some factors that couldn't be calculated by stats. Leadership, Mental Impact, and Hustle to name a few
If one must compare, do it with the seasons he left Boston and went to the playoffs.

the difference is rondo is more aggressive in the playoffs and that does make his team better because it means you actually have to guard him
you have to do another comparison after he has played the warriors.
You included the 2014-15 Playoff Per Game stats for Rondo for some reason knowing that was going to affect it.
That was 100% a horrible playoff series that he tried to tank.
Other than that, stats show that he definitely does better in the playoffs.
Make a vid about Minnesota about starting rose or talk about what is the key to beat the rockets
