    It's not even the numbers that make 'playoff' rondo so good, he's the guy that calmed the Pelicans down and kept them level headed. This Pelicans team from previous years would've panicked at least one of the close games away, probably two. Our offence with jrue initiating gets really bad at times when rondo is on the bench, no matter how good everyone now thinks he is.

      achieveacademy Jazz to Houston for sure, especially since Houston hasn’t been offensively there yet.
      I don’t see the Pelicans as a threat to the Warriors. Portland made them look better than they are. Dame and CJ are such poor defenders that made Rondo and Holiday better offensively than normal. Also, they had no one to defend AD. They don’t match up as nicely with the Warriors.

    This was lazy. Throwing up some career stats. The stats should be when Rondo gives a shit and when he doesn't. Playoff Rondo appears when he's fully locked in and has had the time to scout out the opposition. That dude is a killer. Blazers couldn't run anything without Rondo calling it out. Even last year that tragic imploding Chicago team was beating #1 seed Celtics with PlayOffRondo controlling the show until he broke his hand. Do your thing man there's like 10 years of Playoff Rondo appearances. A half assed stats video is too lazy for this kind of a living legend topic.

    • @goeable
      @goeable 6 лет назад +7

      El Duderino true. He choosed his stats because the point of the video is to deny playoffs rondo ... if we go back in 2009 , playoffs rondo showed up with a post season triple double with kg , and then he got his 5 years contract extension for 80 millions... even in 2008 we saw glimpses of playoffs rondo with a dazzling game 6 in the final 21 points 7 rebs 8 asts and 6 asts , even phil said he was the star of that game... the we know his carrer in playoffs its so obvious, the only year he wasnt that good was in dallas..

    • @darvinham4893
      @darvinham4893 6 лет назад +4

      I agree. If you're going to throw up career stats, there was a time that Rondo was considered a Top 5 point guard. If Playoff Rondo means even getting to 80% of that, then it's definitely a thing.

  • @georgewang8003
    @georgewang8003 4 года назад +3

    2 issues with Rondo really. 2nd point is why he’s fine with Vogel and Gentry but not Carlisle .
    1. He lost a step and half from his prime from tearing his ACL and age
    2. He wants to run the team’s offense when he’s dribbling the ball. He’ll run the coach’s offensive sets but the coach can’t be telling him what plays to run. He thinks he knows better being on the court and can also factor in who’s hot, who needs to get fed the ball so they don’t get mad, etc, who need shots to keep rhythm and who doesn’t.
    Vogel and Gentry are fine with it

    Dennis Lindsey: You should consider trading for Rondo and Mirotic. I know Quin is going to say he loves to stick with Rubio and Crowder. However, I don't think you can add players one-dimensionally. You need players who can provide clutch shooting during crunch time and playoffs. You don't need 5 or 6 good defenders and can't score during crunch time. I think if you want to widen your window of catching the leading pack for championship contenders, you need to adjust your strategy!

    Yes playoff Rondo exists but not in a way that many say. He isn't playing any harder than he is the regular season but it is because he has more time to study the opponent, which you don't mention. Rondo might be smarter than some of the coaches in the league so having time to study an opponent gives him a huge advantage.

    You put out some offensive stats but forget the other side of the floor. In regular season, this is where Rondo coasts. He often gamble for steals and let his man blow by him because he know help is coming. But in the playoffs, this is where he is truly locked in. He is very disruptive on passing lanes and can lock you down when he's on.

    Defensive intensity and the pressure to perform in the playoffs is much higher than the regular season. To consider the stats as the same in weight would be illogical. For rondo to at least maintain and even increase production proves that playoffs rondo do exist.

    Let's not forget last year when Playoff Rondo helped the #8 Bulls go up 2-0 on the #1 Celtics and then when he breaks his hand the Bulls lose the next 4 straight. It's also about leadership and the little things that don't show up on the statsheet.

    U missed some factors that couldn't be calculated by stats. Leadership, Mental Impact, and Hustle to name a few

    You can not compare Rondo’s whole career with the playoffs. Everyone knows Rondo as a Celtic before the injury was one of the best guards in the league but his performance and reputation went down leaving Boston. He did not play as well as he use to but in the playoffs, he became the old Rondo we knew before. If one must compare, do it with the seasons he left Boston and went to the playoffs.

    Last year the Bulls finished east in 8 seed and 1 seed was Boston Celtics.The Bulls was up by 2 games until Rondo got injured.Then Bulls lost all the other games and Celtics won the serie with 4-2.Rondo is a real deal and people can’t see how good is he.Also he is not really tall he is 185cm (I think that makes him 6’1 in feet)

    the difference is rondo is more aggressive in the playoffs and that does make his team better because it means you actually have to guard him

    You included the 2014-15 Playoff Per Game stats for Rondo for some reason knowing that was going to affect it.
    That was 100% a horrible playoff series that he tried to tank.
    Other than that, stats show that he definitely does better in the playoffs.
