Terrible experience in Avianca 787 Business Class to Bogotá

Hey guys,
welcome to this brand new video of mine.
Unlike my usual reports, this video deals with a very bad product.
I flew Avianca from Buenos Aires Bogotá in August, 2022 and I unfortunately, I had to experience my all time worst business class flight onboard their 787-9 dreamliner.
When an airline doesn´t even offer blankets or pillows on a 6 hour flight in business class, you really feel that something must be really wrong. Complemented by some terrible "food", this business class can easily be considered the worst business class on any airline that operates modern aircrafts.

For those in a rush, start from 3:53. Things go from bad to worse. Goodness me, what a terrible airline. I won't fly them again.
Unfortunately, you‘re absolutely right…
I hope that people considering flying Avianca will watch videos like this one, so that they have the possibility to rethink their booking…
Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it! :)
shut up Avianca is a great airline you probably have not tried it or rode with the peasant's.
Are you making anymore videos as I really enjoy your coverage of airlines?
It’s very sad that one of the best airlines in Latin America has come to this, as a Colombian I was very proud of Avianca, but I don’t enjoy flying with them anymore, it’s awful that our airline, the airline of Colombia don’t have the great service that we were accustomed to
Unglaublich !! Auf einem 6 Stunden Business Class Flug kein warmes Essen und nix zu trinken .... what a fck
Ganz genau so ist es! Und dafür zahlen Leute 2-3K 🤯
Wirklich ein Witz, was Avianca hier bietet bzw. nicht bietet!
Um Himmels Willen, was tief ist AV denn gefallen 😱
Unter den Meeresspiegel…
Too deep!
@@worldtraveler304 That´s true...
Kinda Sad to watch this ....I worked at Avianca's IT department for 6 years, when the motto of the company was "Quality of Service" I left Avianca in 2019, Right before Covid hit hard all airlines and Avianca's went downhill in terms of service and client's experiences and opinions degraded badly. Now Avianca is like one of those cheapo no-name airlines that will charge you a moderate price for a ticket and then will try to sell you a bottle of water for $10 onboard, or an old, hard sandwich for $20, and the experience inside the cabin is like riding an old school bus: no reclining seats, entertaiment or even a bag of peanuts.
Unfortunately, you‘re very right and I feel sad to watch AV becoming worse and worse.
I think your decision to leave them was the right one…
I flew Avianca the same time as yours (August 2022) but from Santiago Chile to Bogota. And yes this is the worst Business Class or probably the worst airlines ever ive flown. You fly the 787 that still at least have 787 with a real Business seat. My flight from Santiago was on the A320 with a new, uncomfortable and small legroom seat. Like your flight, I got an awful sandwich and just water available on Business Class. Seriously?? For a 5-6 hour flight with nothing but paid an expensive ticket is just disgusting. Crew was rude and no one speaks English at all. Toilet and other facility was also disgusting. Expensive ticket and nothing onboard is just ridiculous. And yes, I will never fly Avianca again and this is my last time flying with them.
Thank you very much for your feedback, I do absolutely agree with you, it‘s a shame!
I‘ve flown Latam several times this year and they did a way better job, AV is by far the worst airline in South America or probably even the worst major airline in the world…
@@FlyingFabTravel I agree. I will fly LATAM or Aeromexico next time to Latin America. Avianca cost us too much, but get nothing onboard with terrible seats, food and staff.
I flew about 14 months ago from San Jose to Bogota. 2 and a half hours, $1200 usd for a first class seat. They fed you? Wow, aren't you lucky. So spoiled. I got a few tasteless crackers and a puny bottle of water. What a ripoff. And the seat wasn't nearly worth the cost. I felt like I was robbed but at least we landed in one piece. That ridiculous "dinner" was anything but. And it was from 6-9pm so I was expecting to be fed!
Avianca staff does not speak English..??
@@rockattack Absolutely Not. Not 1 either on my flight. Yours?
Starkes Video wie immer :)
I agree!
Danke dir, Franz! :D
That is a shame. I remember I had the same flight years ago and it was a really good one. I am learning Avianca is becoming one of the worst airlines keeping the slogan "It is because of covid....". How'd come you don't have a warning before the passengers book their seats telling them " WE DON"T EVEN PROVIDE BLANKETS OR A DECENT MENU>>>>OUR BUSINESS CLASS IS CRAP"
I absolutely agree with you, they should definitely warn passengers who want to fly Business Class and who believe that they‘ll be offered a real Business Class product.
It‘s a shame.
Thanks for your feedback! :)
Did you get a tasteless handful of crackers/cat food in first class for dinner like I did? I actually complained loud enough for the other first class passengers to hear me and sort of nod in agreement. Oh, and a tiny bottle of water. That's what I got for $1200 usd on a flight that took about 2 and a half hours. Aviana is an expensive joke.. not a funny joke, mind u.
I am actually going to fly in Avianca from Madrid to Bogotá and needed to have the flat seat since I am flying from Shanghai. I am hoping by Summer time, maybe Avianca would have improved. I am just saying…
@@robertoriasquey3605 as far as I know, they offer a „real meal“ on their routes to Europe. But still, I guess, it‘s not comparable to any good business class out there.
@@robertoriasquey3605 I wouldn't hold my breath, lol. Be sure to bring some food so you don't starve on the flight.
shut up Avianca is a great airline you probably have not tried it or rode with the peasant's.
Even for an LCC, not only are they more expensive than other LCCs, but they’re also more meticulous with their luggage policies. I prefer Volaris for flights to El Salvador - you get the same seat anyways but you also get a few extra KGs on your checked bags as well as an extremely generous weight limit for cabin baggage - a cumulative 20kg across 2 pieces. They also don’t check the luggage sizes so often times you can go slightly larger without getting a penalty. So AV sucks even as an LCC.
Totally agree with you!
Hmm... I normally fly Bogotá-London with this same airline (8.5hours overnight) and London-Bogotá (11 hours overnight). And even the Economy seats get a pillow and a blanket. I believe Avianca might have an internal policy for providing blankets for shorter flights, or for some that are not overnight. Just a thought tho...
Yea, might be possible, but that doesn’t justify anything. It‘s still business on a 6 hrs flight which should be treated accordingly.
Now its an ultra low cost airlines. In flights within Latin America you have to pay for food , even if you are travelling Business (which actually is not sold as Business)
That‘s true and absolutely sad.
I‘ll avoid Avianca in the future.
same on EasyJet, Whizz, Ryan Air and even Norse cross-Atlantic... who cares? I prefer the cheap tickets. I don't give a tosh for any luxury. Just get mem from A to B as cheap as possible and I will just sleep through the flight on a thin economy chair no problem
I flew first class from San Jose to Bogota on Avianca. It was dinner time and they gave me a few tasteless crackers and a tiny bottle of water. I paid $1200 usd and the flight was less than 3 hours. By comparison, I flew American from Miami to San Jose prior to that. I paid $277 for a first class seat. Same time of day and duration of flight time. They fed me a full meal (and an extra dessert on request) plus all sorts of snacks, unlimited drinks, and it was a pleasant experience. Avianca sucks. And what a ripoff. They could at least feed you something other than a handful of bird food. Not to mention I had a weirdo next to me who kept tapping my shoulder and bothering me and he barely spoke English so I have no idea what he was bugging me about. I'd like to blame Avianca for the nuisance but unfortunately that would be unfair. But they still suck in every other way. The only reason I took that flight was because Avianca is the only airlines with a direct, nonstop flight from San Jose to Bogota.
You’re definitely not the only one who get a bad experience with them … to not say also how bad is the flagship lounge in Bogota!! Like you ,Never again !!!
I guess you‘re right, unfortunately…
Thanks for your feedback! :)
Haha, I guess Avianca´s not that great :D
That‘s true! 🤣
Friend, I hope that the next videos will be as beautiful as the previous videos. And you will give more importants to the music. And I am watching for the next video.
As I said, it‘s just an addition to my cinematic flight reports.
They will be resumed for sure!
@@FlyingFabTravel Thanks
They have cutback significantly. They know only offer hot meals on routes to Europe which I believe is only 2.
Yeah, I‘ve read that as well…
They should simply stop offering any business class product in my opinion.
Thank you for your feedback! :)
@@FlyingFabTravel they have decided to go the low cost model. All you can expect is getting from A to B with Avianca; which that I have had success with them lol.
@@BrandonJohnson10K yeah, I guess that‘s true, unfortunately.
But you should always keep in mind how much business class on Avianca is…
If it was significantly cheaper than Latam or similar, I‘d understand the point, but it‘s damn expensive considering you don‘t get anything worth mentioning, besides the seat…
That's just.. so cheesy. If I had known that, I would have saved some money on a first class ticket. I know better now. I thought they chose my flight randomly for punishment and starvation.
@@FlyingFabTravel they havent sold business class seats since august 2022! now XXL is only available on EU flights, you clearly dont have a clue what your on about sweetheart 😂😂
Honestly most airlines in this side of the hemisphere have gone bad, only in the middle east, Asia, Australia, airlines are top notch
I do very much agree with you!
Good to know it, I'll look how to get to Argentina
I hope you‘ll have a great trip!
so i regularly fly this route. probs done around 6 times in last 2 years. fly again tomorrow so thought i'd check out if much has changed. you defo get duval and pillow. but yeh food isn't that great. would also like if they had more selection of drinks.
flew a few days ago and they do still have duvet and pillow. so yeh....
Thanks for your feedback!
❤👍 FlyingFab, you definitely speak more and more like a bent vacuum cleaner pipe in which the pressure decreases and increases 😂 - A caveman wouldn't have nailed the dialect so well 🎉
Haha, whatever drugs you take, I need to try them myself!
Please tell me more about it 🤩
Still better than Emirates 777 2+3+2 Business, Esp. when its broken
OMG. I had the same sandwich in Coach!!!! At least you had lettuce
Please take a look at those airlines in China! No service, no food, no amenities offered in international flights, even those that take about 10+ hrs
Well, China might still be an exception, but that does not justify what Avianca offers…
Note to self: do not fly on any Chinese airline.
Thanks for the heads up.
I did the same flight on september 2023 and the service was totally different to the described on this video, it looks like they improved. I received a formal lunch of shrinps and rice with a dessert, also wine and water (i asked for water). The size of the seat (converted to bed) was also short for me even when there is people much more taller than I (1.85m), overall i liked the service in business class. Good to mention that in the tourist class they offered nothing during the whole 6.5 hours flight (same flight), not even water.
Thanks for your feedback!
It‘s been overdue for ages now, so I‘m glad they improved in business at least. But not offering anything in economy on such a long flight is a shame. At least you gotta stay hydrated imo.
Nevermind the food or seats, at least you had the displeasure to get on the plane, we had to turn around he because they made a "mistake" and one of the two of us wasn't allowed on the plane. Never again and I rather count it as loss than book another date with them.
So sad. Wow
It is sad indeed! 🫤
Yikes. & I don’t have any other option to get to El Salvador
You‘re gonna survive somehow I guess. Heard they‘ve improved slightly.
I flew Avianca and the food, service etc is super awful and much worse than Spirit and the level of Frontier nowadays. AV used to be better than either Azul/Southwest and Jetblue combined, now its hard too guest it very very extremely far from their ratings nowadays as they turned too low cost. I would take Aeromexico next time to Latin America than this airline.
I do absolutely agree with you, it‘s a shame how AV has been evolving in the last years…
@@FlyingFabTravel Not only their Business is awful. I also take a flew through their facitlity at Bogota Airport and try their lounge and all of em sucks. Never again Avianca. Fly another airline instead of wasting money on AV Business. You pay a price like Singapore Airlines or any luxury airlines, but ended up a worse experience than airlines like Spirit.
@@ericforsbergs2364 facts!
Low cost? My first class ticket was very expensive, and for nothing. They are just slacking. On everything.
Holy cow…
… 🫤
And the staff are incredibly rude, worst ever.
Oh my God, I’m glad I found this blog I was just about to purchase business class from London to Bogota… clearly I am not going to do it. Thank you for sharing your experience and providing us the viewer with critical advice.
The Business from Madrid to Bogota is quite good, even though AV has gone down hill since going bankrupt.
Thank basically every airline nowadays, you want more you now have to customize for a higher price, still want more fly private jet other that's what everyone gets everywhere nowadays. The neglect on the carpet is not a good look true but the seats are good and why would they have extensive entertainment when most have their pre uploaded things to watch and never even touch their screen? Oh, and why on earth would you wear headphones from a company, I'm sure you have better yourself.
Bro. Stop wining 😢
If you paid that much for a flight like this, you would probably cry, too.
Think twice before you flying Avianca.
At least AV offered „Coke“ , shows that there‘s at least pride for one of their national products 😂😂😂
Haha, soo true! 😂😂😂
😂😂👍
LOL! Even „Coke“ couldn't save the misery of this awful flight...
@@seanp7dc haha, damn true!
Lol, yes but the Coke in Colombia no longer has the real thing. What it does have, inexplicably, is artificial sweetener in the original version (not the diet) and I have an allergy to that crap. I found out that every soft drink in Colombia that is not diet still has the artificial toxic chemical fake sugar in it. Don't ask me why, but I don't drink soda here. Even Canada Dry has that garbage in it. Which reminds me, I've been meaning to call Canada Dry and find out why the formula is different here than in the States.
Avianca is the worst, now seats are smaller no reclining, they charge for water and not even movies. Their prices went so high almost double. DO YOU YOURSELF A FAVOR NO MORE AVIANCA!!
Facts!
Copa and avianca worst Busines class
avianca the worse.. Colombian airline...
English accent needs to be improved
I didn't like your video. It was my waste of time. I understand AV is going through some hardships however I'm sure they will get together. I do like Avianca.
I don‘t care if you do like Aviance or not, I‘m just revealing facts.
And if an airline is absolutely bad, someone needs to tell the truth, otherwise it‘s going to stay like that.
Tell me one thing that justifies the price Avianca wants you to pay for this terrible product…
if you actually know the covid laws in colombia you will know that under government directive all colombian air carriers were prohibited from offering a full service on any flight for protection of crew, whilst covid restrictions apply, covid restrictions were only removed in December 2022, so your post is total bollock 😂😂😂😂😂
Well, I think your comment is total bollock, since on EU routes they‘ve been offering full service for months now.
It‘s just a matter of saving money - period.
Yes, the covid scamdemic offered a way for airlines to effectively cut costs to the bone while raising ticket prices essentially screwing over the consumer.
Avianca is the worst airline in america
