At the age of 13 I saw Judy Dench in Midsummer's night dream in the Regent's Park open air theatre London - she had long blond hair to her waist - I am 72 now and still glory in the priveledge of sitting in the front row watching her ❤❤
I saw Dame Judi in A Midsummer Night's Dream in Sydney around 1970. She was already a star, the beautiful and talented leading lady of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her performance that night was every bit as good as the hype. I have never forgotten that show and her work has continued to be top notch ever since.
I'm so happy to see again David suchet ! It's too bad that I can't watch the bbc on my tv in Limoges (🇫🇷), so thank you bbc for posting that on youtube
One of my favourite plays. I’ve been telling it like a bed time story to my daughter every midsummer, since it’s a huge celebration ik Sweden. Magical nights 🥰 It’s been a tradition for five years now 🙂
I found out this is from Shakespeare Live! From the RSC, so it's probably just selected scenes from Shakespeare's plays so this might be the only scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream they showed.
Thank you and pls post more videos from that celebration. If I could have listened to these brilliant actors in high school, I would have enjoyed and understood the Bard. On a lighter note… DT doing his lateral neck motion reminds me of staged 3 with his “knock knock “. Lol.
I wish BBC would allow their content to be watched outside of the UK. It's too bad they won't allow people around the world to share in the talents and art of their performers, except for small snippets like this.
Wow!! I had no idea that I’m seemingly different to most other people! 😳 In my younger days many moons ago I used to go what you call ‘dry caving’ and potholing. I started as a Scout Leader on a camp at an activity centre in the south of England. It was so long ago that we were using the old carbide lamps that you wore on a helmet, they had a bare flame. They worked well until they didn’t and then could be an almighty pain to light again, the ignition was a square knob which had to be flicked, not easy when your hands are covered in wet clay! We also had a belt-mounted gas generator, great when you’re in a squeeze and the damn thing gets jammed between your hip and the wall, great fun! Anyway, I was back marker, we all had our ‘buddies’ in the event of the lamp going out, the buddies would get close (far closer than my Scouts wanted to be!) then the ignition was flicked and with luck and a following wind, the lit lamp would ‘jump-start’ the duff one! My lamp went out, I told my buddy 6/7 feet in front of me who either didn’t hear or didn’t want to, he carried on. I told him again, louder, but by now he’d vanished and I was left in the blackest, black, it’s not describable. I was about to draw breath to yell when I thought better of it, I’d had the perishers on camp for nearly a week and realised just how lovely the quiet was down there, I’d heard the voices getting fainter until I couldn’t hear them at all and slid down the wall to put my feet up for however long it took them to notice! Loved every second, definitely not in the least scared! 😂
But isn't David Tenant versatile? Or really is he the Doctor of course Shakespeare is easy. After all, he knows the man. But aside from that, wonderful performance

What a wonderful experience, twice! And vivid memory to treasure. Lucky you Barbara. Most jealous.

Oh! I wish I had enjoyed such an opportunity. To see Judi Dench perform live would be mesmerising. ❤
I was there too, what a privilege!
It is so nice to hear Sir David's real voice after years of hearing only Poirot.
Watch "His Dark Materials". He plays Kaiser.
Or Colonel Akir Nakesh 😂

The world would be such an immense better place if we could listen to , read and dream … Shakespeare, you are deeply missed .
open a book of shakespeare’s collected works and … read it.
@@monicad99 Not meant to be read, but experienced in fine performances like this one.
How wonderful to watch this marvelous performance two of the greatest talented people. Wonderful.
Thank you BBC. Another wonderful gift.

They look so good together
I like them both. They are very talented actors.
Two favourite actors…joy
Love Dame Judi! Superb!
We remembered her as M in James Bond 007 movies.
Wow! Wish I could see the entire play!

Love, love, love. What a treat to find on a wet Autumn eve. 🎉❤
his and Judis acting r amazing! love them so much
Anyone else just smitten with Tennant?
Inspired choice for Puck :)
No
I thought it be him, but what’s Suchet?
EVERYONE!!
I live in hope I will, one day, get to see Suchet perform Shakespeare on stage.

Love them both immensely! ❤❤
Wonderful! So much talent on one stage.
This is from a 2016 TV special called 'Shakespeare Live! From the RSC'.
Tragically it was an absolute cringe of a show. RSC just stuck in the doldrums - and still there.
Oh!! Wow!! So beautiful
Please show more… fabulous !
Beautiful, thanks BBC!
David ❤️
Allons-y!
Amazing talent ❤
Loved it, two of my favorite authors.🌻
Magnificent xxx
Legends!
Magnificent👌
Fabulous

And a special appearance by Barty Crouch Jr!
David Tennant The 10th and 14th Doctor in Doctor Who? Allons-y!
@@krisnarefaagusta16 Mais oui 😉

Cool!
Definitely Tennant!
I have loved these people, these gifts to us all, my whole life long. Long, long may they live.

Barty Crouch, Jr.!!!

Excuse my ignorqance: whose music?
She will always be "M."
I love Dame Judi so much. This, I am not a fan of. I'm too uncultured, I guess.
It’s WAY overproduced. Too much for me too.
Yeah, recently she starred as M in James Bond 007 movies.
I am a HUGE fan of these talented artists. I felt the delivery was a bit heavy handed. More suited to a speech before battle.
But isn't David Tenant versatile? Or really is he the Doctor of course Shakespeare is easy. After all, he knows the man. But aside from that, wonderful performance
First
Don't know why I've commented on a BBC performance😂
