  • I found the Redodo 12V 100AH LiFePo4 battery to be of good quality and put out in excess of the 100AH rating. It also gives great value for money. Check the links below for the most up-to-date pricing but at the time of this filming this 100AH battery was on sale for $299, which is an excellent bang for the buck.

    Thanks for the review of the Redodo battery. The fact that it has more than four thousand charge cycles is more than enough reason for me to acquire one.

      Ya, when you factor in how long you should be able to have these batteries work for you they cheaper than Gel or Lead-Acid, based on how many replacements you would need to buy of the Lead Acid and LifePo4 have better technology, like a built in BMS, so these are the future of house battery banks. It's not even close now that LifePo4 prices have come down.

    I had 3 x Redodo 12v 100ah batteries and it works well for the first 3 months. However, when I had issues they were not forthcoming in their reply. Response and attitude are bad for the past weeks. I am still hoping they will handle this well.

      I hope so too. The reality is most of these products are made in China and the after sales support is not always quick and efficient. You pay less vs something made in Canada or the US but the downside is you may be less than thrilled with the speed of Customer Service requests. Some still do quite well. It is really hit and miss with these Chinese companies.

    That 'wake up' trick works with tool batteries too. So, if your drill battery is dead, don't buy a new one! Use another battery of equal voltage and composition and run wires from + to + and - to - for up to a minute. Then put it on your charger to finish the charge

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  Год назад

      Yep. Batteries rarely show no volts. If so it’s probably the BMS cut the power.

    What's up eh? I was looking at those exact batteries 2 days ago on Amazon for a new boat we're getting. You should do a video on how and what you had to alter on your charging system to keep Lifepo4 batteries happy on board the boat! Say hello to J for me.

      HEY!! My MPPT controller has a menu where you can say it is a sealed battery, not gel or lead acid, and it just ups the acceptable voltage to 14.6v from the lead acid 13.4v. Nothing needs to change. Just pull out the lead acid batteries and drop in the LIFEPO4. Simple. Safe Cruising!

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  Год назад

      The LIFEPO4 batteries have a BMS so they won’t allow you to overcharge even if the SOLAR controller is not that smart and tries to keep charging it even when it’s full.

      @@Bowmans-Woods what are you doing to protect your alternator? Do you have an external voltage reg?

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  Год назад +1

      @S/V Valor nope. The alternator, if anything, stops charging before my lifepo4 is even full because it probably assumes it is charging a led acid battery. Again even if it did keep trying to charge when full the BMS will cut the charge if the battery doesn’t need it. It’s a simple drop in solution. They are designed be a led acid replacement. You don’t need to overthink it or worry. The BMS manages the battery.

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  Год назад

      The bulk of my housebank charging comes from Solar. I think the alternator never gets the LIFEPO4 full. It’s probably designed for lead acid so it never gets up to the full 14.6v

    I have the HTRC P10 amp smaller than yours it doesn't have the option to change to 15A or 20A charging...that said i think this is one ofcthe best intelligent charger ive ever used it auto starts and once full auto stops and if ac power goes off when it comes back on the htrc charger auto starts up ,checks the LFP battery,charges if needed to full then auto switches off...if batteryvotage drops lower than 12v it auto starts and charges the battery agsin...only thing i don't like is i didn't buy the 20A ,or 25A or 30A .. so it runs for a bit to charge the 300ah 12v lfp I've got

    Hello. Just charged up the same battery, first time, and waiting to check the resting voltage. The chart says charge voltage @ 100% = 13.5vdc. How much did your battery read after resting? Thanks. BTW great job!

    • @Bowmans-Woods

      My charger charges at 14.2v but once it is full and resting it should read about 13.4-13.5v at 100%
