How Pakistan was stolen...

  • From its inception in 1947, Pakistan emerged as a new nation in the Indian subcontinent following the partition of British India. Led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, the country aimed to create a separate state for Muslims. The early years were marked by challenges as millions of people migrated across borders, resulting in mass displacement and communal violence.
Pakistan's early history was characterized by the formation of its constitution in 1956, but political instability and military coups marred the subsequent decades. In 1971, East Pakistan seceded, becoming the independent nation of Bangladesh, following a conflict that also involved India. This event had a profound impact on the country's geopolitical landscape.
The late 1970s witnessed the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, leading to Pakistan becoming a key player in the Cold War struggle. The Afghan conflict fueled the rise of Islamist militant groups, and Pakistan, with support from the United States, played a pivotal role in supporting mujahideen fighters.
The 1990s saw a return to civilian rule, but political instability persisted. Economic challenges and power struggles between civilian governments and the military created a volatile political environment. The turn of the century brought a renewed focus on combating extremism and improving governance.
In 2008, Pakistan faced a significant turning point with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Despite challenges, the democratic process continued, and a civilian government took office.
The years that followed involved a complex interplay of political, economic, and security issues. Pakistan faced internal conflicts with insurgent groups, particularly in the border regions. Efforts to counter terrorism intensified, with both successes and ongoing challenges.
Economically, Pakistan sought to address issues of poverty and development. Infrastructure projects, such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), aimed to boost the country's connectivity and economic prospects.
As of 2023, Pakistan navigates a path between geopolitical challenges, internal reforms, and economic development. The nation continues to grapple with issues of governance, security, and regional stability as it strives for progress and stability in the 21st century.

Not the first south asian country with an electric vehicle policy. That's nonsense. India's been selling EVs longer than Imran khan's coming to power.
Also this video has a heavy pro PTI slant - it doesn't talk about Khan's flip flops with the IMF, his personal attacks on indian and (critical for pakistan) american and saudi leadership that pissed them both off, and constant appeasement of extremists - calling OBL a martyr.
The intercept guys are both IK simps that are not publishing any of the rot that IK indulged in.

The 2022 floods in Pakistan were an absolute nightmare. I remember hardly believing the statistics. An insane number of people just homeless and with nothing to eat or drink, no medication, etc. The news cycle moved on but I just remember that as a particularly distinguishing moment in how climate change is shitting on so many people.

You missed that Benizir Bhutto's Pakistani Party of the rich landi owning class of the Province of Sind, and Nawaz Shariff's Muslim League is the Part of the rich land owning class of the Province of Punjab. And so the regional difference between the two parties is more important than the ideological differences. And the one thing that both parties can agree on is not taxing rich land owners. And thus Imran Khan's PTI is actually much closer to a real political party than a regionally based elite patronage network.

Great video, I didn’t think you could cover so much history in twenty minutes! The shadow support of separatist factions in neighbouring countries is real, Pakistan has been a source of instability in the region for a long time and ultimately some of those chickens came home to roost.
Also I can’t emphasise just how disastrous American intervention has been in Pakistan. Zia ul Haq’s hudood ordinances (his government’s populist interpretation of sharia law) results in the persecution of women and religious minorities to this day.
Personally Imran Khan - yes because the alternatives are so grim but tbh I have given up on Pakistan :(

As a Pakistani, I can tell you that Pakistan's deep state aka establishment aka military is (and has been since the early 1950s) an extension of America's hegemonic empire. It is highly unlikely that the US will leave Pakistan alone as long as its interests in the region remain as they are today. If anything, countering China makes Pakistan even more interesting for the US than it ever was!
