And thank you for that mile breakdown. I hadn't thought of it like that before. I am 4:8:4 ; run the first 400 comfortably, run the next 800 stronger, and then just run until u pass the finish line
I recently PR'ed at a track meet for the 1600 I was a at 7:30 and last meet of the season I got 6:48 that was the first meet where I had told myself the mental stuff he talks about in the video and just relax and tell yourself positive things. At 5:40 i was laughing so hard because on race day i think of anything but my race, 5 minutes before the starter called me to the line in my last race, i was having an intense baseball debate with the boys... lol
@@zeauxx8351 I assume he did that over the course of a season. His PR is now 4:48, but he doesn’t have any official times from the current season since his school hasn’t done any track meets yet.
I am a USATF Masters runner, back from a 22 year absents from the sport. Love both of your guys videos. I am down to 5:12 in the mile, and am looking to get under 5:00 this summer. Last 2 months has been more mileage, up to 35 miles a week. My legs are tired, looking for a good workout for the higher mileage times, before I peak later in the summer for Nationals. Thanks guys!!
Yeah I don’t know if I can take advice from a 4:18 miler. That’s like a little morning warm up jog. lol yeah right 4:18 is cookin! 3:59 yeah that guy either running his soul away or running to get it back haha. Great video and thanks for all the tips. Have a great day y’all Semper Fi
This video came out just in time. I’m a freshman running 4:36 and I’m aiming to get break 4:30 on Thursday. Thanks for the tips! (You gained a new sub)
Sam Jacobsen ur fast, 4:30 is my goal for next season. Currently run a 5:20 as an 8th grader, but our practices r easy, I didn’t run at all last summer, and I have a bad diet. Making those things right starting this summer should help me reach my freshman goal!
Stay confident is the key. Without special reason, everyone could reach the goal what others could reach. No common way, everyone has own special way based on common experience.
In my first year of track I started at 7:24 as a sophomore in high school which is horrible but it was my first time doing sports and now I’m in my junior year with a 5:40 and plan on running 4 minute miles by senior year
I have freshman counties this Friday and out of our distance team I’m the only one running the 2 mile but I’m also going to be running the mile so my pr is currently 5:12 and I’m looking to break it but my 2 mile pr is only 11:54 so I’m happy to watch these videos and get real tips and advice from a real runner!
Great vid as always dude! Although, track is winding down and summer runs are right around the corner... I would love a video about advice for summer runs so I can have a successful XC season... should I be focusing on pure mileage trying to run as many miles as I can, or should I run them a bit faster?
Just doing fast 400s or 800s is one of the best workouts. I sends you into oxygen debt, and after doing it a couple of times, your body will begin to use oxygen more efficiently. Keep doing and your body will become even more efficient. The best thing for training is mix it up. Do fast 400s/800s one day, do long runs the next, do tempo runs, do speed work, etc. That's what I do and it has worked really well.
Love that "what you put in is what you get out" Im a 9th grader and i ran my first ever 1600 last Saturday in 5:13 i wasn't overly exhausted so im going for 4:59 next time!!
I was supposed to run a mile today for track, while i was walking down to the starting line I tripped on the bleachers and sprained my ankle and I’m pissed
Thanks bro! As summer is about to come I can’t wait for summer training and prepping for the cross country season and hopefully want to hit a low 19 to 18:40 which is a jump to 20:24 to 19/18:40 over a minuet Pr and I’m a freshman going into sophomore and I thank you for your inspiration!!! Ps: I ran a 5k on Saturday with my friend and got first in my age division 14-18 and got about a 19:48, thanks for helping me out with your awesome vids!

I woke up at 5 A.M. to attempt to make a new PR for the mile. Sub 6 minutes. I was right on pace up until about 1km in. That’s when I realized my asthma started to kick in. But I just kept pushing to pace all the way to 5’10” pace. Ended up doing 6’05”. Hopefully won’t get an asthma attack next time :/
I’m in 8th grade probably 5’ 5 to 5’ 6 130 I ran a 5:29. I’ve got an invitational in 2 days I’m running the mile I have to get my time down to 5:16 to match last years winner. My current pb is equivalent to 6th last year. So I’m really going to try to shave 13 seconds. Wish me luck!
