Lyrics:
The world on your shoulders
The love of your mother
The fear of the future
The best years behind you
The world is getting older
The times they fall behind you
The need it still grows stronger
The best years never found you
The love of Richard Nixon, death without assasination
The love of Richard Nixon, yeah they all betrayed you
The love of Richard Nixon, death without assasination
Yeah they all betrayed you
Yeah and your country too
Love build around the sandy beaches
Love rains down like Vietnam's leeches
Richard the third in the White House
Cowering behind divided curtains
The world is getting older
The times they fall behind you
The need it still grows stronger
The best years never found you
Ah, the love of richard nixon, death without assasination
The love of Richard Nixon, yeah they all betrayed you
The love of Richard Nixon, death without assasination
Yeah they all betrayed you
Yeah and your country too
The love of Richard Nixon, death without assasination
The love of Richard Nixon, yeah they all betrayed you
People forget China and your war on cancer
Yeah they all betrayed you
Yeah and your country too
In all the decisions I have made in my public life,
I have always tried to do what was best for the nation.

Lifeblood is such a criminally underrated album, as is this song. Love the video too.
This is such an underrated song. I think just because it was a Manic Street Preachers song people found it difficult to like because it was so different. That’s just one of the many reasons I love it so much. They dared to experiment with different sounds. This has something of a depeche mode style to it, and I love the way James sings it. It is loaded with wit, pathos, irony and humour. It’s one of the great many fantastic defining MSP songs. This band just keep on surprising their fans with great songs and great albums. I’ve been a Manics fan right from the start. I remember listening to ‘Generation Terrorists’ and thinking it was the best debut album by a band ever. I couldn’t imagine how they could top that album, but they’ve managed it again and again. For me MSP are up there with the greatest bands and artists of all time. James has the same breadth of talent as Paul Simon. The song writing ability is up there with Lennon/McCartney, they rock like early David Bowie, and they have the same ability to totally rock a live performance as a trio as Motörhead. There are many other bands I could compare them to, but it would only be a comparison because ultimately The Manic Street Preachers are in my opinion the best band in the world ever. I say that as a massive fan of so many other disparate bands. They are the band that never fail.
just too good band for nowadays taste, thats it :- (
Couldn’t of put it better myself sir 👍
Amen to that
@@viarnay Their last album literally topped the charts mate wtf are you on about
Nickey sang it.
brilliant song from an overlooked classic album
didn't get the recognition it deserved
This and know your enemy were both great albums!
One of my fave songs from Manics❤😊❤
I love this album, don;t know why so many hate it it is a brillaint album of strong songs, and i love it
it's been 15 years and I still occationally out of nowhere get this song stuck in my head...
(and I didn't even understand the lyrics back when it came out since my english wasn't sufficient for that back then)
A stunning piece of work. A modern masterpiece 👌😍
This song is hypnotic. I read it as an anti-Kennedy song. Many (even on the left) are used to think about Nixon as the worst president and to praise JFK as the best one, but they forget the Bay of Pigs and Vietnam.
Their best album. Absolutely. Love this band from many years ❤️❤️❤️
One of my favourite Manics songs. Genius.
With this song I met the Manics when I was about 12 years old on a cable TV station in Chile, rediscovering this essential, incredible band!
Very underrated manics song!!!
probably their best
Vinsu Karma: Agreed. What about 'To Repel Ghosts?
I dont under rate it, I love it!
thats what i think maybe later it will be rediscovered
It got to number 2 in the U.K.
One of their best songs off a truly great album.
Композиция сводит меня с ума!!! Слушаю бесконечно.... И клип замечательный. Актуальный.
+stefany watson Good point:sometimes victims fade to villians!!!
IRINA PERMYAKOVA love is piece
oh the soft purr of James's voice here...
Absolutely amazing, but it’s by the Manics so I will say no more 😍
James' voice on this one is just... PERFECT. I don't really understand the lyrics of this song but I love it!
Nickey sang it.
Such a great Manics song. My favourite ever band.
Those bands who started 89 and became great and big In the 90's. Manics and Oasis are my forever bands❤❤❤❤
What a song. This was the first single i bought, seen it played on channel 4 on a Saturday morning, bought it in Asda a few hours later
is this possibly the very best manics song
One of the. Most underated song ever no one knows it ...its a fantastic song
I never knew that there was a song about Richard Nixon. I will listen to every song about Richard Nixon as long as it portrays him in a positive way. I want to visit his presidential library.
I know this comments 10 years old but me too :)
I love him he’s epic
Bloody love this band so much; getting back into them after not listening to them for years. My fave song of the moment...
I loved Lifeblood then as now. I grew up on old school manics and people thought that I would hate this. An elegant soaring piece of work with killer riffs and glorious harmonies and, as always the intellectual perspective that I hoover up to look into and every word is a reference to so many writers, painters, poets and bands to absorb. As always, a delight in every chord.
You always learn a lot about history and politics from Manics’ lyrics
This track is pure Depeche Mode style !!
+TokyoLH or new order
Closest to Electronic imo
What??? Never! DM never uses such catchy melodies in their songs!
TokyoLH
Congratulations on that comment though - however wrong, sorry, - DM and The Manics are my 2 all-time fave bands and I was an early (post) punk
squatting in London around 1981 on.... What you mean is, I think, DM began all electrosynth and have introduced guitar whereas the Manics were hardcore guitar and have done the opposite and now introduced synth. That's why I love them - the early Tora Tora and Boys of DM and hardcore guitar of the Manics. O c'mon- DM use catchy lyrics ffs ! Why dyou think thyre still going nearly 40 years on.... Yes - I'm only a year younger than Dave ;)
I was at Waterloo Fire Station squat when The Clash played in the old engine room. That night we'd professional bouncers in monkey suits (tuxedos) on the doors. I used to hang out at Compendium on Camden High St, there was an old Beat Poet night one evening - Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs - I made friends with Nico, and went to see Bowie play Manchester with her circa 86 - she'd a flat in Prestwich, North Manchester. We went with John Cooper Clark.
At the time, I didn't know much about them (I was only into drugs really) so wasn't star-struck, that's how it played and worked, all I knew was she'd sang with The Velvs - and they were smack heads, charismatic and beautiful Nico was, but that nonetheless. I know realise I was hanging out with genius artists and legends. Strange life, isn't it ? I'm in my mid-late 50s now, and very anti-crack and so on that's killing our youth.
King Julien
From Tora Tora and Boys to Master and Servant to Personal Jesus to the recent Heaven - come on, don't be daft !
Just listened the song on the radio and loved it
Reached number 2 in the singles chart but hardly anyone knows it. Other more well known Manics songs didn't get in the top 10 but are more famous. Just goes to show a number is just a number.
The best years never found you...
Holy moses, that solo
A special song and it would sit inside my top 10 Manics songs for sure.
"el amor de Richard Nixon, una muerte sin asesinato
el amor de Richard Nixon,si todos ellos te traicionaron
si y tu país también...
A design for life and the everlasting and if tolerate this your children will be next. Thier best 3 imo 👍👍👍
This is an amazing song
because manic street preachers are what the are.........manic street preachers......and i love them right from the start :-)
Manic Street Preachers The Love of Richard Nixon 18/10/2004 Alternative rock
They went with different sound for that album. Said that, it's only song without proper guitars in it. Still, very underrated song. Biting irony, human sadness all combined together.
Muy bien, Carlos complace la canción de Manic Street Preachers, “The Love of Richard Nixon”. Gracias por su apoyo.
Fantastic song with an equally fantastic video.
Still a brilliant song, and I forgot how much I enjoyed the video at the time even when others would change the channel (remember channels??)
I love this song.
Sounds nice

I have never been a crook
Mostly correct; but at the end, it's "I have never been a crook".
@@v00n2000 ok, i fixed it. Can you recommend me this type of song?
@@kubranurturan9669 I don't know any other song that sounds like this. It's also unlike most of the Manics' stuff.
@@v00n2000 do you listen to rock?
@@kubranurturan9669 I listen to everything, even gangster rap and psytrance.
love this song, lyrics are great.
the beginning instrumentation sounds like a song you'd hear in those supercuts about the history of robots in film or something
my favorite band since the beginning of the 90's . oasis , radiohead , coldplay . non of them are in the manics league
Yes,but without coldplay

wonderful music 😍 cool guys 🤘🏻
@mmoruzov it sure is a great tune....just love the manics lyrics...peace.
とても美しい曲ですね とても美しい曲です 🎶 👍👍👍👍👍🎶🎶🎶
Their best song imo, lyrics amazing! I like for the fact, it's not a negative song about Nixon, it's neutral. The good and the bad.
Neutral? Richard the third cowering....

Nixon was brought down by his own paranoia. He was leading in the polls by a wide margin, but still, he had to know what dirt the Democrats may have had on him. Richard III indeed.
Overly political but underated, move on or get outdated.Manics mechanically engineer a song,we listen we belong.
Dont forget about the man behind the scenes. Henry Kissinger. Just as responsible for the millions of ppl killed in Cambodia, Vietnam and later Indonesia!
Slurpie Rood and the Middle East
Slurpie Rood no one could sing a song called the ‘love of Henry Kissinger’. Well someone could but they’d have to be genuinely evil like the man himself.
Ryan Boshell Kissinger had a hand in so many wars and violent revolutions and coup d’états. He played a decisive role in destabilising South American Socialist regimes. He helped Pinochet into power, he destabilised El Salvador and he was the mastermind behind the Iran Contra fiasco that Oliver North took the blame for. He was given a Presidential pardon. Kissenger was behind so much sleaze and corruption, so many dirty tricks. He branded people of the Third wold and the mentally ill, the profoundly disabled and the drug addicted as ‘useless eaters’, meaning that they took resources and gave nothing back and were therefore not as deserving as others. I think he’d have gassed them all if he’d been allowed his way. The man is a cold blooded fascist.

oltre i limiti...spettacolari.
Richard Nixon was one of the most likeable, most "human" presidents of the 20th century.
волшебная музыка и клип ништяк
That's the one!
great band
i think the message can be gleaned from this song is that when we find ourselves before statements that goes like oh is common sense richard nixon was the worst usa president everybody knows that, etc,we get the courage to call into question those statements ,that we ask ourselves what is underlying in those common sayings that we apply a sort of critical thinking in all we see and hear. and what if watergate was not a scandal after all. why is it that the system comes out of the scandals totally reinforced ? i apologize for my english
Rene Perez do we ?
the love of clement atlee!
Reminds me of that old Vulcan proverb...
I kinda like that this sounds different.
Ascultati !!
Stefan Luca Seara placuta, dle Stefan!

IT'S A NICE SONG
Me gustaría aprender el mini solo, que está muy bueno
I believe the Manics took some influence from a band called Midnight Oil, I’m thinking of their song ‘The forgotten years’, I’m not talking about the melody but the structure of the song and some the effects in the production.
